I lived on Alderson. You definitely get what you pay for in some regards (rough bathrooms, inefficient and outdated heating and windows, "landlord special" with white paint on everything, but overall I thought it was a nice experience if you don't care about luxury. Maintenance was also pretty quick (I never had an emergency) and the staff was generally polite and nice to work with. For the price and location I was happy enough.

The worst place I've ever lived. God forbid you have to call the office for anything and have the displeasure of speaking with John. If you need to break the lease, you have to continue paying rent until they find a new tenant in addition to 4 extra rent payments. Such a joke. Don't let them fool you into spending a year at this dump.

I lived for 4 years in their property. Contrary to most reviews here, I found Forward management to be very considerate and responsive. They would always respond to the maintenance request promptly, stuffs are respectful.

Worst experience ever. They are just robbers. They will try to get money out of your pocket without any reasons. Try to avoid their apartments.

Terrible property management company. Do not rent from them is you have the choice. Maintenance workers are unskilled asshats who have no clue how to do their job, leaving your apartment with a huge mess without cleaning up after themselves.

Beyond excited to leave this place this weekend. If you're looking for somewhere in Squirrel Hill, don't even bother to look at their locations on Alderson. Or really any at all.At first tour, the units look great because they paint over foundation issues such as cracks in the ceiling. When you move in, you'll find that the doors are often painted over so that they cannot properly close and outlets are also painted over. If they come in to fix windows, they'll instead break more... That is if maintenance ever shows up and, trust me, they won't until you hound management for weeks. There is also a theft issue within their units. Instead of putting a camera in the lobby for everyone’s safety, their great solution was to put a table + trash can in the lobby and tell tenants to get their packages delivered to work. Mind you, we are in the middle of a pandemic and most people are either working from home or out of work entirely. Their solution was entirely out of touch.Noise complaints are entirely ignored. Also expect the boiler to break every winter and go without heat for several days as well as faulty radiators. There’s a reason the rent here is so cheap and it’s for a reason. It’s disgusting.Google “Forward Management reddit” for even more horror stories. Do yourself a favor and do not rent from them.

My wife and I have been renting from Forward Management for 8 years now, so we've been through the good as well as the bad.I'll start with the good, which is very good. The apartments are spacious and full of light and air. The hardwood floors are great and the maintenance staff is kind and relatively responsive. Plus, paying a lump sum as rent to one place is just the definition of convenience. When there was a large fire in our old buikding in 2013 and we were living in a hotel for weeks, Tina was most efficient in helping us find a new unit in a nearby building. They even went a step further and reduced our rent for a while. It was a very stressful time and they could not have been better. But sometimes its not all sunshine and rainbows, as is the case with living in an old building. Paint chips and cracks are common. Winters can be tough when there is no heat which, although it sounds like the boiler is fixed every time, still manages to occur during the worst parts of winter every year. Not having hot water has happened as well. This heat issue is the toughest part of living here, although it is generally brief. The staff is aware and responsive when this happens, giving everyone a space heater during this time. While rent discounts would be optimal, its not necessarily viable for obvious reasons. The above paragraph is why I had to knock off a star; its just too big an issue to ignore. Granted, you always have to deal with issues when the building is as old is ours is.Overall, I would recommend them. Living in Squirrel Hill is a huge plus and is an amazing neighborhood to be a part of, and Forward Management has been a part of that good experience.

The team at Forward Management have always been polite, professional, and helpful. Recently, I’m having issue with Verizon internet; long story short Jackie at Forward hooked me up with a helpful and knowledgeable guy from Comcast. A better deal, and I wouldn’t have known except for Jackie.Yes, I know there have been issues, but these are old buildings and the team has done their best to correct what they can

Sadly, Google does not allow to give negative stars to a company in a review, otherwise they would get -5 stars from me.This is not a complaint but rather a public service. Forward Management is without a doubt the worst landlord in Pittsburgh. Their apartments are in such poor conditions that they should be considered a hazard. (See pictures for details)The fact that they charge so much for such units is a crime. They left me with a hole and a rusty pipe in the bathroom and with a big hole in the ceiling of one of the closets, for months. The paint is falling off the walls and the electrical and plumbing systems are from the 19th century.Their maintenance is a joke and when they come to fix something they either do half a job or leave you in worse conditions than before. The management is rude and patronizing when you call to complain about an issue. I have had heat and water issues in multiple occasions, leaving me with an overflown sink or without heat in the middle of January. How they manage to still stay in the business after so many complaints is beyond comprehension.

I have had a good experience with Forward, in contrast to many of the reviews here. We have always had maintenance issues taken care of quickly and without issue, no issues with utilities, and always a quick response from anyone we needed to contact. We did have our heat go out one evening, and within an hour of submitting a maintenance request, someone was at our door with space heaters to get us through the night until they came in the morning to fix the issue. The online system for paying rent and submitting maintenance requests works well and is convenient.Overall, I would recommend Forward Management, keeping in mind that renting with any management can come with its pros and cons.
