This review is long overdue - I have been coming to EEVMC for 4.5 years now, first with my sweet elderly shih tzu. Dr. Cramer and Sydney took the very best care of her, especially in her last weeks of life. I decided to put her to sleep at the vet and it was the most peaceful and compassionate experience that I could have asked for. They sent a sweet sympathy card with seeds that I could plant in her memory.I now have two kittens and Dr. Madineni and team have been so helpful and proactive.I highly highly recommend EEVMC!!!

I have a senior cat that is a bit of a diva, and has some health issues as well, and this is where I have chosen to take her for her care; the doctor here, Dr. Berner, is excellent, and so is the staff.Primarily, they handle my cat with care and respect here. She is old and is terrified to go to the vet, and they recognize this; the staff and doctor handle her carefully and gently, which I appreciate so much. I can see that they really are legit concerned about my cat. They also respond incredibly fast to questions via email, and their prices very fair.To summarize: I’ve had my cat 14 years, since she was a baby, and I love her like a child; of all the veterinary clinics that I’ve been to in the east end of Pittsburgh over the past decade, and there have been many, this is where I choose to go, because they treat my cat how I would treat her; with care.

This is our vet & they’ve been great! We just had an emergency where our dog had something stuck on his tooth. They were able to help us when I called & told us to bring him in immediately. They had good to go in less then an hour! Professional, friendly and caring for your family pets

This is a long overdue review. I’ve been taking pets to EEVMC for years. All staff have been exceptionally kind and courteous, especially when dealing with a concerned pet parent. Anytime they can squeeze us in, they do, and if not, they recommend where to go instead. My youngest cat has had a slew of issues and staff are always super knowledgeable of her issues. When she was doing really poorly, they called to check in on her. I genuinely do not think my cat would be alive today without these folks. I am so grateful for them and always recommend them when I get a chance.

My dog is still kickingEdit:I have been going to this vet on and off since around 2008, but I think it's time to find a new one. The techs and desk are still kind and compassionate, just don't care for the new vets.Long and short is my tom cat got into it with something. Not a big deal just a light bite from a small dog (probably). It showed no signs of infection but the Mrs asked I bring him in.Standard care, shave, clean and a shot. All is well until I ask if the antibiotics were because of an infection.Instead of the expected "it's just in case" the vet gets visibly annoyed and suggested there was a chance of the wound never closing. Causing me to ask again if it was infected. And ok, it is possible to have a long term weeping wound, but not probable, and if I was a new pet owner that would have scarred the hell out of me. I think that is what she was trying to do.BTW eventually she said It was not infected, the shot was just in case.I was ready to chop it up to her having a bad day until she walked out of the exam room with a snide comment about having an indoor outdoor cat.maybe time to find a new vet.

My cats had their yearly check up this week. Everything went well.We were greeted nicely when we arrived and tech Amanda and Dr. Ortiz were very kind with our pets. They were in for an annual check up. They gave them a good exam even though one of my boys gave a few growls at them, they got their vaccines, and scanned their microchips to make sure they were still active. For the first time ever we got to take their photos by the halloween picture wall! Until we see you guys again, thanks for seeing the boys this week.

This place is fantastic. Everyone is compassionate and knowledgeable, and willing to work with me as my cat went through serious health scares over the past few months. Dr. Cramer and Dr. Nagel were accommodating for me being unsure of what was best for him, and always took the time to explain what was going on. As he got better and time went on, Dr. Cramer always kept me in the know and well informed. My cat's still doing well and it's in no small part thanks to east end!!

“I have never seen a dogs ear in worse condition than Milo’s”... stated my NEW vet thanks to the negligence of this one. Thankfully, I have started taking my dog to another vet who took one look at Milo's ears and told me it was so badly infected and so inflamed, that his ear canal was basically completely closed shut and could barely receive medication in it. If you care to know more, read on.I have been taking my dog to the East End Vet since January. I re-homed him while he was facing a number of problems, but the biggest problem he was facing were the skin infections (bacterial and fungal), to the point of losing probably 50 percent of hair on his body due to scratching, biting etc. His eyes were crusted over and his ears had black smelly “gunk” quite literally growing out of them.At first, I loved this vet. They helped my baby get back to almost perfect once they gave him his antibiotics and antifungals.... However, my dog's ear infections NEVER went away. I had repeatedly brought him back for this issue and explained that I was cleaning them everyday and nothing was helping. He would cry in pain so loud anytime his ear was even touched to the slightest. I was told on a number of different occasions in person and on email (so I have receipts) that it was due to allergies and to give him apoquel. I was also told that this is a problem for some dogs and unfortunately, sometimes they don't go away, but I could try to figure out the allergy to help. After explaining that the apoquel wasn't helping his ears because there was so much inflammation and debris, I had asked if they could just clean out his ears regularly to at least help make him comfortable and to prevent ear infections. (I had already believed that his ear was severely infected but since they never sent me home with medication or said it was infected, I assumed it was just build up from his allergies.) They refused to clean Milo’s ears unless he saw a doctor first because “it had been awhile since they had seen him”, which it had not been. I was consistently calling, emailing, and bringing him in for this issue. I DID, however, stop bringing him in for “rechecks” once I realized they weren’t doing anything about this problem after two or three times going. + I finally decided to call it quits once they refused to clean his ears for me, at the very least. I was fed up with paying their doctors hundreds of dollars to do the same thing they do every time which was to take a cytology, clean his ears, and send me home with a bottle of apoquel, which his new doctor confirmed doesn't help with most dogs repeated otitis, but may be helpful to dogs with actual body scratching! There was no need for a “recheck” at this new vet. They took one look at Milo and knew my baby needed help NOW. This new vet took one look at him and he walked out with three different medications to help him get better again. He was given a steroid for his inflammation, antibiotics for the infection, and we came up with a plan to get regular checkups and cleanings to prevent this infection from hopefully occurring again! I’m so happy I switched to a vet that was willing to be empathetic to Milo’s quality of life.

Extremely accommodating. I was having difficulty getting an appointment with local vets and animal shelters due to my dogs breed. I also have a unique situation as I am in an EMERGENCY battered women's and children shelter. While the shelter has relationships with local vets, none were taking new patients. They were simply scheduling surgeries for spay and neuter. I was unable to leave a message at many of the vets I called. East End Vet was incredible! They emailed me an estimate before our visit which I presented to shelter and arranged for payment. The staff welcomed Tito, my pittbull mix, with open arms. They understood his temperament and his fears. They have early check in which alerts them Tito is present for his appointment so that they can clear out the waiting room so everyone feels comfortable. The staff played with Tito! Dr. Berner was exceptional! She showed me a new toy for Tito which helped distract him during his visit. It stuck to the floor and they spread Jiff peanut butter on it! He loved it. I loved how Dr. Berner and staff were familiar with the pittbull breed! They understand he is reactive in times of stress and new environments as he was abandoned at 6 weeks on the side of the road. They all made sure Tito felt loved! Dr. Berner understood my preference for not wanting to fix Tito! She didn't shame me rather she listened to my reasons and understood! Thank you!! Tito loves you.
