We had such a wonderful experience with Ellen cutting my 2 year old's hair today! A local kids' haircut place that we had been going to drastically cut their hours recently. I wanted to find somewhere else close to home but had a feeling my son's behavior might necessitate us making the drive out to another kids' salon out in McMurray. I asked my local moms' group for recommendations and decided to give Caruso's and specifically Ellen a try- I'm SO glad we did! The receptionist I spoke with on the phone to book the appointment was so sweet and reassuring as this was my first time taking my son to a "real" hair salon that primarily serves adults.
The front desk staff at the appointment were so kind as well and Ellen was an absolute gem. She was beyond kind and gracious with me and my son. Her approach also really put him at ease - he was able to sit on my lap (which was actually a lot better for him than sitting in a little car at the kids' place we had gone to) and Ellen was so great about showing each of the tools she'd be using on him (scissors , trimmers, etc.) and took the time to show that they weren't going to hurt (showing her "use" them on me, showing her "use" without cutting at first on him etc.) Although we had had a good experience at the place we had gone to before, Ellen's service was above and beyond what we had experienced in the past!! The extra time and "tricks" up her sleeve for working with a very young, very reluctant toddler were amazing and greatly appreciated. Additionally, the cut was quite efficient (even with the time taken to demonstrate the different tools) and the surrounding customers were so kind and empathetic when my son did cry a bit here and there. The setup of the salon also helped everyone's experience , in my opinion - it isn't too loud by any means but it's a large floor area and the acoustics worked as such that it didn't seem like the rest of the salon had to hear too much of my son's hard moments.
Based on this positive experience with both the salon itself and Ellen I am definitely booking with Ellen for my son's cuts moving forward and I look forward to visiting the salon myself for hair, makeup, and/or massage services in the future.

Visited this salon in the summer for a cut and color. My hair has never reacted so poorly to hair dye. I had to call and ask what kind they use (Goldwell) because I had such a bad reaction to it. Was so unhappy with the color and the cut was average. The price was outrageous for what I had done. Ended up having to go to another salon to fix it. Only giving two stars because the atmosphere of the salon is very nice. Will not return!

This was my second time there. First time was ok. This time I hated it. The woman that did my hair cut did the exact opposite that I asked for. She cut it too short! And that was the most important thing that I said to her: Please not too short. And I show her how long I wanted it. Never coming back, too expensive for such a bad hair cut
