One of the best schools I've had the pleasure to work with! The staff are amazing, and management is caring and considerate. This is how you run a school well.

Excellent! The baby room has a separate nap room for infants so that your baby can get in good solid naps during the day. A music teacher rotates through all the classrooms for a weekly music class. An incredible science teacher puts together detailed age-appropriate science lessons for the older classrooms and then sends home a detailed report letting you know exactly what your child learned in science that week. There is a separate art studio for a Reggio based art class with a fabulous art teacher. In addition to all the specialized teachers, the classroom teachers are excellent, caring, and really do nurture a loving and play based environment for your kids. I couldn't recommend this daycare enough!

This is long overdue. Do not use their daycare! My son was in room 104, the toddler room. They are very inconsistent and unreliable and incapable of holding themselves to a higher standard. They will ruin your reputation at work because of all the closures. They sent my son home because of a diaper rash and demanded a doctors note upon returning. All in all I probably lost 3-4 weeks out of the 6 months my son went there due to holidays, Jewish holidays, staff shortages, and staff calling in sick or taking personal days randomly. Then I’d be notified the morning of 90% of the time. The issue with the place is clear. Their staff is underpaid. But, they don’t want to address that. Instead they asked all of us to bring in our children less often as they filled their other classrooms with more teachers and children except for our room. They were in violation of our contract on several fronts and even though the best part of their organization is their girls who run these rooms; they threw them under the bus and referred to them as “unreliable “. No, you’re exhausting them, you’re underpaying them and your blaming them for your shortcomings! This and they still want payment next month beyond this point because it’s in our contract. Good luck Beth Shalom We have evidence of you breaching the contract! Do not send your children here or you might lose your job as I did. They destroyed my reputation. I’ve never ever heard of a daycare asking you to stop bringing your kids in because it’s inconvenient. Imagine if a fast food worker asked you to “order less stuff” because they didn’t want to do the work. I feel as though they are living on a different planet than the rest of us. I really had high hopes for this place. I wanted my children to be exposed to different religious backgrounds and become educated on the differences he will face at home. My son was robbed of that. That’s what angers me the most. I’m agnostic, the wife is Muslim, my family is Christian and my father was Jewish in faith. He is no longer with us, so this was what I had. I hope that Beth Shalom is proud to have let me down and my child down in such a miserable fashion. I expected more from you! For demanding so much of us you demand nothing from yourselves. I have no idea how you do this bad and have the ratings you do.

The ELC is place that does not value the community and does not care for the children/families. My son’s classroom had 13+ unexpected closures that were announced on very short notices. The closures were due to staffing shortage, and when parants started asking for refunds, the management would discourage us from doing so because they are trying to “treat their teachers right”. Later we learned that teachers are paid hourly, so the days that the classroom was closed, the teachers did not get a penny, but they still wanted to keep our tuition to themselves while we had to stay home with our children or pay the extra for backup care.We tried to work with the management and even suggested solutions that will force us to keep our children at home some days, but they were Extremely incompetent and did not offer any help or cooperation. Instead, they blamed it on teachers being “flaky” and “irresponsible”. The executive Director, Robert Gleiberman is borderline unethical, he laughed at one of the teachers face when she asked for a one dollar raise per hour, keep in mind that some teachers are being paid below leaving wage. The manager is very inefficient. It is important to mention that the manager’s child goes to ELC in another classroom, and their classroom has not been close ONCE due to staffing. She would use all of the subs for her son’s classroom this way it never closes, despite all of our concerns due to the lack of care and how it affected our jobs and our life. My husband lost his job, and many other parents in our classroom faced similar challenges, all due to the ELC incompetence. When we told them that and we are leaving due to their incapability to provide care for our son, they asked us to pay a 60 day withdrawal fee which is upwards of $3000. They wouldn’t even negotiate deposit the fact that they breached the contract many times since we signed up. The greed, incompetence, improficiency, and the lack of sympathy and care for families and the community at the ELC is mind boggling! The one star is for the teachers. When they were there, they were amazing.

This school and the one across from Tree Of Life are both something Pittsburgh and the Jewish community can be proud to have.

Beth Shalom ELC is a loving, nurturing, play-based learning center for infants through Pre-K. Both of my children graduated from this center after starting at 11 weeks old, and got the very best start in life. They were beyond prepared for Kindergarten, knowing how to read basic sight words, write and do basic-age appropriate math. The center has lovely science, music, and art specialists that provide enriching experiences to complement lessons provided by the classroom teachers. The large gym full of bikes, scooters, balls, etc. and outdoor playgrounds are perfect for developing and enhancing gross-motor skills. The educators and directors truly care about my child's well-being and the community is warm and welcoming. This is really the place to be.

We are so lucky to have found Beth Shalom. It was recommended to us by friends, and we have not been disappointed. The teachers are nurturing, the curriculum is fun and educational (even for my two-year old!), and everyone there treats my son (and us!) like family. Even as a toddler, our son is getting way more than just daycare. They came through for us when we needed them most (while I recovered from surgery for two months) with extra hours and anything we needed. We are so appreciative to be a part of this wonderful community.

We've been so happy with the care and education our children have received at Beth Shalom. My daughter started kindergarten fully prepared academically but more than that, she started already loving learning. Her teachers stoked her passion for music, art and science. Last summer I added extra days for my 3 year old son because on his non-school days he always asked to go visit his teachers and classmates. I'm excited for my littlest one to start this fall!
