“The storeowner, Rich is a wealth of knowledge and has a pleasant small town demeanor you won't find anywhere else. Rich knows most folks by name, as many of us have been gift shopping here for years. He's been in the business his whole life, as it has been passed down through the generations. It is still known to most as Poor Richards, but has been FP Kolbe for quite some time now. Perhaps it is less catchy than PR, but given that the business is family owned and passed down-the name FP Kolbe is a fitting authentication with originality. There are oodles of candles and home decor. The old hotel building layout lends itself to a meandering browse through rooms, surprised at what is around every corner. The atmosphere is cozy, unlike what you'll feel in big box stores and franchises. Rich always knows what the best deals are in the area on pots and statuary, and his stuff is always priced just right* while other nearby garden supply stores have prices through the roof. Conveniently located next to the cafe, you can get some lunch or breakfast and coffee before or after shopping in the store-without having to hustle and bustle to the next river town because of grumbling tummies. It's prime location on the Delaware River and Towpath because the Byram Bridge is the next house down. So, you can bicycle or walk or run from up or down the river on the path and cross the old bridge over the canal to FP Kolbe where you will be welcomed in to a cozy shopping experience.”

“Arrived on a Saturday afternoon to make an air plant terranium with my wife as a cute date. It was such a fun time. The store is beautiful ? staff is really helpful and nice. They have an entire area for making your own terranium and we had a blast, it was so much fun. The terraniums come in different shapes and sizes which also means prices vary. You can have additional decor for small uncharges, when you do things often with your partner it's hard to find things that are fun and date like. This was really alot of fun for the creative couples. It was lead by anyone. Staff showed you where everything was and allowed you to be. Reative all on your own which is a preference I have, such a cool idea. Really enjoyed it very much.”

“This shop is our favorite place for gift giving and little home decor items for ourselves. There is always new merchandise and a great selection. Everything from jewelry to furniture and everything in between. Prices range from modest to high end but everything is priced reasonably for what it is. They also do a beautiful gift bag! “The store has an amazing array of products to look at. The displays are full and interesting. The owner was super friendly.I feel compelled to address other reviews that complain about the no stroller rule. I understand what it takes to put together a retail store with such beautiful displays. Too much at risk for a stroller to knock things over, bump into valuable products and not to mention an easy way for shoplifting. If you don't have a retail store yourself you may not understand the risk strollers bring into an environment like this. I do have a retail store and speak from experience. This is not walmart where strollers have wide aisles and no one really cares if things are broken, damaged or stolen.”
