Absolutely worst experience I’ve ever had. Nurses and doctors were very rude, never returned my phone calls, would be put on hold for awhile and then I would get hung up on.

Dr. McGowan is wonderful! After not finding good pediatricians and getting older and finding a family doctor, I am so grateful to have come across her. She is kind and willing to listen to my concerns. All the receptionists and medical assistants are wonderful and make you feel comfortable. I saw Dr. Chan for a sick visit and he was also very kind and compassionate.

For over a month I've been attempting to dispute almost $300 in charges, for care that is preventative and should be covered 100% under my insurance. It appears that even though I requested an annual physical, I was charged as a "new patient visit" despite requesting an appointment for a physical specifically. The front office was not helpful at all and I'm currently waiting 45 business days for a billing review. After looking at other reviews, this also seems to be a common issue that Penn is aware of and has decided to not address.

I arrived as scheduled at 7:30 am for bloodwork. This is the 2nd time I have had to knock for 10 minutes and now at 7:45 am waiting on the lab tech that just arrived. Last time they never showed up. Get your bloodwork done elsewhere!

Dr. Mcgallen told me the day of my appt 10 minutes before I was supposed to go to
My appt. Had her assistant call me and tell me she couldn’t address all my health issues in a appt which I took off for. Then drs are only in part time in office 2 days .. always want you to do zoom. Long story short unprofessional, disrespectful of my time no courtesy to let me know 24 hours so I had a choice to cancel if she couldn’t meet the expectations. Will be finding a new provider.

If I could give Andrew Kelly 0 stars I would. I went to Penn Care seeking recommendations for mental health specialists in the area. RECOMMENDATIONS. Notice how I did not go to him, a primary care physician, for him to give his two cents, because that is really not something he is qualified to do. However, he did. I was belittled and my struggles downplayed the entire time. This visit was not only unhelpful, but it hurt me, because I was set back on my journey due to being so angry and discouraged, and worried that this would happen to me again. I have never been more appalled at someone's audacity in my entire life. Luckily, over a year later, I am finally receiving the treatment that I need, no thanks to this man. Isn't it funny how when I go to a mental health specialist they are able to properly diagnose my issues and help me create a treatment plan? I am endlessly grateful for my own drive to get help, because I think many people would give up after an experience like this. For reference, I was an 18 year old young woman at the time of this visit. I am sure that played a part in my experience. It is ridiculous that they have him teaching PA students. May we all hope and pray they turn out nothing like him. Avoid this place if you want any semblance of assistance that a doctor is supposed to provide. I am so vindicated to see in other reviews that I am not alone.

Be careful of this place. If you book a new patient appointment but intend to have an annual checkup they will still bill you for establishing care as a new patient even if your intention is to have just an annual check up, which is something that is generally covered 100% by your insurance as it's preventative care.
Stay away from places like this that won't assist or even try to work with you if you make an honest mistake. Healthcare in the US is confusing and you shouldn't be expected to know the ins and outs when the whole system is intentionally misleading. Find a place that's more willing to work with their patients.

Highly recommend Dr. Hawtin! My care team at Penn Family Medicine in Phoenixville are stellar. Corinne puts a smile on my face just by saying hello and getting my vitals. Dr. Hawtin is the most caring professional I have met and always ensures all questions are answered - with multiple options if care is needed. She then allows me to talk through the options to find one most suited for my lifestyle.Making appointments, checking in, and obtaining results are extremely convenient with the portal. And now that the lab is in house, getting bloodwork is also super easy - and the tech is superb. I felt nothing and she made me feel so comfortable the entire time.

Dr. Hawtin is extremely personable, caring and knowledgeable! She truly listened to everything I had to say and answered all of my questions so thoroughly! It’s rare to find a doctor who is greatly empathetic and warm. Can’t recommend her enough!

Dr. Hawtin is the best primary care physician I’ve had. She actually listens to me when I tell her something feels off, and she’s diagnosed and guided me through a care plan for a couple of issues over the past few years. It’s so refreshing to have a doctor believe what I’m telling them. I’m very grateful to her and the whole team at this practice!

I understand everybody is STILL afraid of Covid, however we are no longer going through the pandemic and Covid will forever be a part of life, just like the flu and other viruses!I called to make an appointment as I was experiencing symptoms for a few weeks now and not feeling well. I tested FOUR times for Covid, all at different times, ALL of which came back negative! I didn’t even have a fever. I was functioning but just had been dealing with a stubborn chest cold for a while, I thought I might need an antibiotic so I called the doctor and the receptionist told me I was not allowed at the office with my symptoms. I told her I have been Covid free every single time I tested I do not have a fever and didn’t have the flu. I guess Penn Medicine doctors don’t see sick people anymore. The ironic part is, I was seen, in office, last year for the same symptoms. I guess this year is different???!!! Its a real shame healthcare has become this bad, with absolutely ZERO regard for patients care! I don’t even know what they do every day, or what anyone is getting paid for if they refuse to see sick people! Awful! I will be escalating this issue and noting that patient care was denied when in need! All Penn Medicine doctors, as well as other doctors who won’t see sick people should find a different profession or retire! Again, there are other viruses in life, other than COVID that people need to be seen for, in person! And as a doctor, it is disturbing and pathetic as to how the ignorance is still there!

I just called the office, I was told that I cannot come in because I’m sick, I thought the point is to see a doctor when you are sick. I was offered telemedicine, I asked the question “how can doctor listen to my lungs over the phone” , after short silence I got an answer, based on protocol and your symptoms you cannot come to the office. This is probably only review I have ever written, and I’m 44!

I was abused by Dr. Chan and the staff at this facility. I requested management intervention and have received NO help. I will suffer a LIFETIME of PTSD due to their incompetence. Thank you so much for doing this to me and my family. Karma?

I used to enjoy seeing Dr. McGowan, but now I can't get an appt. with her if I want to be seen within a few days and anytime I have a question, they want you to do a teledoc call and bill you $320 for 15 minutes. Yeah, my insurance coverage sucks too, so I will just avoid calling the office for any non-emergency issues that may come my way. A real shame. Sometimes you just want piece of mind with a quick talk to your PCP.
