Cool space with a good selection of anarchist and leftist books and zine and some really cool merch and posters. If you are in the neighborhood I’d recommend stopping in if you are interested in that sort of thing.

Get educated about radical feminist lit, anti capitalism, and any other books or zines you won't find at Barnes and noble. Something for everyone.

One of my favorite bookstores in the city. I always walk out with a great book, even when I wasn't planning on buying one. Cool poster and bookmark designs too.

I walked in, curious what an "anarchist bookstore" was like and was honestly extremely impressed.Well stocked with great material... Very knowledgeable staff, eager to help/discuss most any subject matter... Jack might be the friendliest bookstore pup I've ever met haha... and a lovely group of regulars stopping by for quick hellos/discussions/pickups.

Wooden shoe books have an amazing selection of books, and the building has an amazing vibe. The store suplys free condoms, lube, and other products. The workers are very kind and helpful. Overall, the store was amazing.

Is this the best bookstore in Philly? Probably. Which makes it at least in the top 20 or so nationwide. You wouldn't find your Barnes and Noble type books here. But that's the point. What you'll find here is the good stuff that Barnes and Noble wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. Queer writers. Writers of color. Anticapitalist authors. Local criticism, the Wooden Shoe has it all. You could spend an hour browsing and still only discover a part of the store. It's a must visit and a blessing on the local Philly community.

One of my favorite bookstores in Pennsylvania. Amazing for alternative and unorthodox books (and coloring books too)

Stumbled in as a traveler and am now jealous that this book store/community doesn’t exist in my own city. I could spend ages in here!
