My daughter has thrived at The Giving Tree! We have been so happy, it feels like we found a family with Ms Shante and Ms Louise. They are great communicators- no easy feat during the pandemic. The teachers share videos and updates on the classroom app and seem to really know my daughter- even if they aren’t her primary teacher! The center is clean and offers so many places to play- the Mini Gym is a great asset. They also have enrichments with music, gymnastics, librarian visits and field trips. My girl loves learning through play and has grown so much during her time at TGT.

We started our son at The Giving Tree at 3-months old and couldn't be happier. Louise, Shante and the rest of the staff have become like part of the family. Our son smiles every time we drop him off and that makes it a lot easier on my wife and I.

We’ve had our son at The Giving Tree (Logan Square) since he was three months old. The staff is exceptional and our experience has been incredible. Deciding on the right daycare was difficult, particularly with him starting so young, but over a year and a half later we know we made the right choice.

Wonderful staff! I have my two kids there (started as infants, now both toddlers) and they are excited to go to school every day. TGT hosts fun events and open houses giving you the ability to meet the other parents, kids and teachers.

We have been at TGT for 4 years and our two children have thrived there. The teachers and staff are all so caring and communicative. We really appreciate the peace of mind that they are getting great care. They have learned so much and really enjoy socializing with the other children and staff.

My children have been attending The Giving Tree for over 18 months and we are so happy with the quality of care and education they receive! Minimal to no staff turnover, a solid curriculum, and fun value add activities like visits from the librarian, gymnastics and music. The facilities are excellent and include a gym room and music room, not often found in the city. Most importantly, my kids love their teachers and come home happy everyday, which makes life as working parents easier.

After moving to Logan Square, I was happy to find this place three years ago. However, many teachers lack empathy and common sense it seems. They are using the pandemic as an excuse to do the basic things for kids. If a kid starves and does not eat, they won't even bother to tell you. This might be a symptom of being understaffed. They lost many teachers and workers during the pandemic. So, they are trying to do more with less. This is resulting in a lot of negligence of children. They are going downhill, unfortunately. I wouldn't recommend this place for very young kids. Once your kid can take care of themself, this place can be good.

We moved to Philly in 2018 and were looking for a daycare/preschool for our 3 year old. We found The Giving Tree and we got a good feeling from there right from the start. We could not have asked for more. The staff is amazing and the teachers are incredible. During the pandemic, we moved out to the suburbs of Philly, and I think it shows how strongly we felt about The Giving Tree that we kept our son there through the entire pandemic (until he started Kindergarten recently close to our house). We also had our second son at The Giving Tree by then, and although it would difficult to get our kids into and out of the city each day from the suburbs, it was well worth for the quality of attention and care that our little ones received. I could go on for a while about how great they are there, but suffice to say that I would recommend The Giving Tree to anyone looking for a school for their kids (and I already have recommended them on a personal basis to any of my friends who ask).

Our son has been at The Giving Tree for almost 2 years, and it has been a wonderful experience. As new parents, there was much we didn't know, but we knew daycare close to work/home was essential. Through COVID lockdown, TGT was tremendous in their communication and setup. After a few months being shut down, they opened with safe protocols and continue to keep the kids & staff safety as #1 priority. The teachers at each level have been absolutely amazing. The care and love they give to the kids is unmatched. They are very responsive and helpful, especially to new parents. As our son gets into the older age groups, they have activities all day and are always bringing in new things for the kids to learn about. Louise and Shante are excellent administrators and care for each and every child. I cannot imagine sending our son to any other daycare. TGT has been a blessing for our family.

The Giving tree is amazing. The staff is wonderful along with the administration. Very little turnover. Parents are very engaged and the whole package creates an amazing environment. We've had all three of our kids there and they all have loved it.

I am not a big reviewer but I don't think the previous reviews reflect the viewpoint of the many, many parents who are very happy with The Giving Tree. We have had our three sons there for more than five years and think that it is a extremely warm and caring place. Our boys have learned a ton from their teachers, both educationally and in terms of being good people. They are excited to come to school every day, which is the biggest endorsement I can think of. We have been in all of the classrooms in the school multiple times since we have three children and we can't rave enough about the teachers. They are loving and enthusiastic and great at what they do. The director and assistant director are both wonderful people who truly care about the children and the school. When they realized that our oldest son and some of his classmates were going to need to repeat pre-k because they missed the kindergarten cut off, they created a new class for them, complete with advanced pre-k lessons, an awesome new teacher and weekly field trips all over the city. No place is going to be perfect all of the time, but The Giving Tree has been such an overwhelmingly positive place for our children that we continue to bring them in to the city every day to come to school, even though we moved to the suburbs in 2015. A number of families do the same. There is a crazy waitlist, as a previous reviewer has noted, but that is because families like mine have been there for years and have not left, so there are not many spots to be had. It is also true for all of the good daycares in the city, as far as I know.

Our son was at The Giving Tree for a little over a year. At the start, we loved it, but the longer we were there, we became increasingly disenchanted. First the pros: -Good location, very nice facility with lots of exciting activities -Some really sweet, dedicated teachers The cons: -In spite of the many good teachers, we were less than impressed with others. We often walked in to get our son and found him watching TV on an iPad. Given TGT's reputation and the cost, that seemed unacceptable. He would also talk about TV characters that we had never introduced him to. -I know for a fact that they did not change his diaper on more than one day. For the whole day. -On more than one occasion, his teachers had to look around to figure out where he was when I came to pick him up. -The administration was disorganized and often rude. There were a couple of snow days that were never effectively communicated to the parents. Overall, I think my son was happy there, but I did not feel confident that he was in a really positive, educational environment, and at times (when his diaper wasn't being changed and they couldn't find him, for example!) I worried about his well-being. I think you can find better care, though I know there's a dearth of options, especially in that part of the city.

We toured the facility in August 2013, and were impressed with it. We let them know we would need a spot in the infant room in May 2014, and were encouraged to submit our application and fee, which we did immediately. The check was cashed right away, and I heard nothing further. In December I called to check in, and was told we may have to wait until August or September for a spot in the infant room. No one had bothered to call to let me know this was the case. After that, I called periodically to check in and each time was told a that my spot would be available at a later date. Finally, in May 2014 (the month for which we had originally requested a spot for our daughter), we received a generic email stating that all spots in the infant room would be filled for the next YEAR, and that if we wanted to remain on the waiting list, we would need to resubmit the information we already provided on the original application form. I understand that it's not possible to predict available space in the future with absolute certainty, but to miscalculate availability by an entire year is just plain irresponsible. The Giving Tree accepted my (and many other families') application fees for a spot that they either knew didn't exist (which is fraudulent) or grossly miscalculated its availability (which is negligent), and then had the nerve to ask us to basically re-apply if we wanted to remain on the waiting list. I requested a refund of my application fee at this point and was told it was non-refundable. I am very disappointed with the way this was handled, and think this is very bad business on their part.
