Great people, proper equipment, and excellent rigging, in a quirky space that is wonderful. Professional performers to people just learning circus arts will be welcomed.

The coaches are extremely knowledgeable and really help you understand what wraps do unlike any other place I’ve been. The students are so supportive of each other and I feel very safe. The studio is in a very cool building industrial buildings and although I was definitely intimidated to walk in because I couldn’t see in- it was very magical once I walked into the bright studio. The owner has always answered my email questions right away and has taken extra time to explain things to me that I really appreciate. I highly recommend trying it out here. I saw a huge difference in coaching experience with every coach I’ve taken class from at Secret compared to other places I’ve been in the city.

I only just started taking the beginner class (Laurie's) here at the beginning of the month and I absolutely love it! I am an absolute beginner and I feel safe! High ceilings and mats! This school accommodates all levels! All the coaches I have met so far (Laurie and Jackie) are so nice and patient! Everyone cheers each other on! Looking forward to learning, growing, and having fun! Thanks Niff for creating this space! ??

I attended classes for 6 months, until the owner told me I couldn’t attend with my service dog because it wasn’t conducive to a “safe space” for everyone. As a business, they are pretty comfortable breaking federal disability laws. So I guess if you don’t need a service dog while you’re there, it might be a good fit for you.**Update 5/2/21I see that the owner replied, repeating the same offensive falsehoods that I had to endure in my emails with her. I’ll post the email correspondence, so people can judge for themselves. To recap: I go to classes, typically at night, for months. I do a makeup class on a morning and bring my service dog, Dena. I tell my instructor before entering the building, that I have my service dog with me for a disability I have. The instructor says Ok, and lets us into the building. Dena sits, in vest with all her “do not pet - service dog” gear and I explain to the other students to please ignore her. She lays on her mat I always use for her, and watches me work. Later, I get a harassing email from my head instructor/ owner, accusing me of breaking their rules and bringing an emotional support dog to class. She goes on to admonish me, that I need to keep in mind that bringing Dena will ruin a “safe space” for the other students. She ends the email by quoting the ADA law she is breaking, to me, a service dog handler registered with the Assistance Dogs International organization. She point blank tells me, during the week of open enrollment for my next semester of class, that I am not allowed to bring Dena again. I am hurt and stunned, but I correct her willful misunderstanding (the dog could not have been more obviously a service dog). I’m already booked for next semester, which starts March 2. She doesn’t apologize, amend her “you can’t bring Dena” decree. She says absolutely nothing after my two emails on Feb 20. The next semester starts March 2, a week and a half went by after our exchange, and she never responds to allow my service dog back into class!! I cancel my booking, class starts without me, and I never heard from her again. She is blaming COVID for not replying, but that doesn’t happen for a few weeks after all this ends.I notice that she is still propagating the falsehood that a service dog handler should tell/ask businesses ahead of time for accommodations before bringing a service dog. That is false, and against the law. In our emails and her response on here, she never admits responsibility for being outright offensive and discriminatory to her student. Instead, she is telling me what I should have done to have helped them. She still has never told me that my service dog will be accommodated, after writing a clear cut email to me saying Dena will not be allowed back to class.I usually get annoyed by reviewers who post long negative reviews, but I wanted to share my experience. Through hard work in these classes, I was finding my inner strength, pushing past my fears and facing my insecurities with a group of supportive friends. Then I brought my service dog, followed all the rules and civilly explained myself to the owner - and my safe space was not protected, it was destroyed. Still bummed about this reveal of the owner’s character.

Such a fantastic space to learn aerial arts from dedicated, well trained, and artistic professionals. The space is beautiful with fantastic rigging and high quality equipment. Great for beginners and more advanced students. They were also able to adjust to COVID-19 restrictions so well - I don’t feel unsafe or like I am risking my health to attend classes! I can not recommend this gym enough.

I came into aerials with ZERO experience, I was out of shape and had no strength, but I joined Secret Circus to gain some confidence in myself. A year and a half years later, I’m doing things I never thought possible, I’m the strongest and the healthiest I’ve ever been. I’ve even opened up and built wonderful relationships with other students and the trainers. I had no people when I moved here from Chicago until I came to this school. So if your looking to get strong, build self confidence or looking for a safe place to try something new, this is the place for you.

Recommend this school to anyone and everyone. They accommodate every level from someone who’s never taken a class all the way up someone who’s been training for years, no matter your skill level there’s something for everyone. All of the coaches are amazing at what they do and make the classes both fun and educational. Whether your looking for trapeze, silks, lyra, hammock, rope, or just a stretch class, they’re the place to go! Genuinely cannot say enough good things about this place. Not only is it a great school, it’s an amazing environment where everyone can feel welcome and safe.

***UPDATE FOR 2020 COVIDTIMES! I am very impressed by the new online class offerings as well as the safety protocols they have put in place for being able to have in-person classes during the COVID-19 pandemic (once PA and Philly went to the "green" stage). I absolutely would not be going there in person if I didn't trust that the staff has worked to make the situation as safe as possible under the circumstances. Mandatory masks, hand-washing station upon entering the building, hand sanitizer, temperature check, reduced class size, maintaining distance between students, and each student gets their own apparatus which is thoroughly cleaned between classes.***
Amazing instructors who really know their stuff and will help you to be the best aerialist you can be, whether you are a beginner or more advanced. They are always coming up with new things to challenge their students, and are very concerned with making sure everyone is safe. I like that all classes are on a variety of apparatuses. Static trapeze is my favorite, but having the opportunity to also train on silks, rope, and lyra has made me better at trapeze! The community of fellow students is so supportive and friendly. Class here is truly one of the best parts of my week!

Secret Circus is the best. I've been taking classes with them for years, their whole staff is wonderful, and they take safety incredibly seriously. Don't be nervous about starting from zero - I had absolutely no strength when took my first beginner class, they really know how to build up and make it fun from the very beginning. Their Zoom conditioning classes have been a godsend during the lockdown. Their current home on Erie Ave is in kind of a weird location, but those spectacularly high industrial ceilings are worth the trouble to get there. Give it a try, it's so much fun!
