I don’t usually leave reviews, but the burger here was absolutely sensational. One of the best I’ve ever had. The ambience and drinks were also great, but the burger was the real main event for me!

I was happy I stopped by Sassafras to check out its charm as I was in Philly. I got there right around when it opened and was able to enjoy the ambiance and a few cocktails. Although the bartenders were clearly well seasoned in making cocktails, I was hoping for a little bit more from both of my drinks - they just seemed to be missing something that made them really stand out. Still was an enjoyable stop for a drink.

Awesome little bar with amazing drinks! Really enjoyed the decor, the music was not too loud to have to yell conversations, and the bartenders and waiters were just the right amount of attentive.

Great drinks, great service, and live music. Update: got to check out the vinyl bar upstairs. Great spot, really nice bartenders - great drinks. Keep in mind though, you can't dine upstairs.

Sister was in town, popped in on a whim walking through Old City. Cocktails were great (I had a Toronto and a Kentucky Mule) but the service was the real standout. Karl was on top of everything.

Sassafras in Old City, Philadelphia, offers a cozy, vintage atmosphere with a lot of charm, making it an inviting spot to unwind. The bartenders are friendly and the setting, with its dark wood and timeless feel, adds to the experience. While the drinks are decent, they don’t quite stand out compared to other cocktail bars in the city. It’s a good spot if you’re looking for a laid-back, nostalgic vibe, but the cocktails may not be the highlight.

Stumbled upon this place randomly, and it was perfect. Great classic cocktails, wonderful burgers. It is really charming, and quiet (Sunday late afternoon), which I really appreciate cause I didn’t have to yell at my friend to talk to her. Would come back anytime.

Upon arriving the staff were helpful in suggesting drinks but unfortunately they did not understand what type of drink I wanted. The first drink was bitter when I wanted a sweet type. After 2 sips I asked foe a cider. Big mistake it came in a CAN. It was very acidic and I had to add a sweetener to it. I then just switched to a basic rum and coke because it's less likely that you can mess that up. We decided to leave and get something to eat and come back later to continue drinking. When we returned we ordered more drinks and the female that brought the drinks over said "I am surprised you came back as I thought you did not like the service as you did not leave a tip" I explained Unfortunately being from England and not used to tipping I forgot. She then replied well the normal amount is 20%. We all felt very uncomfortable and was worried something may have been added to our drinks so we paid and left straight away. I WILL NEVER DRINK THERE AGAIN. I think that was very rude and inappropriate and will most probably not tip again for the rest of my holiday.
