DO NOT TAKE SWIM LESSONS HERE! The instructor Tom is terrible. He is cranky, crotchety, with a nasty attitude. Perhaps he was a good swim instructor in 1980, but today, not so much. Tom never got in the water to show the class any swim techniques, instead he sat in a chair outside the pool the entire time and yelled at us. Students had to teach each other techniques. It’s way past time for Tom to retire and I am not sure why he is allowed to teach paying customers.

Amazing! My family and I were looking for a pool after 2 other ones: one had a membership price of $400 for a month and the other didn’t take members out of cheltenham township. But the Kroc center was phenomenal, you’re greeted with amazing people and the membership was about $100-200 a month but we got the extra fees off (extra fees which would add up to about $300 in total) because of military discount. So this was an overall phenomenal experience! But yes there is a shortage of lifeguards which cause the water slide to be closed and not in use currently.

There are a lot of staff here who are miserable, rude, and not afraid to show it. If you hate your job or life so much that you need to put that energy in the world, please go get some help. Place is also the worst managed 40 dollar a month community center I've ever seen. Weren't bad when they first opened a decade ago but they are getting worse with time instead of better.

I've been going to the Philly Kroc center on & off for the past 5 years. It is such a great gym for all ages. Truly a home away from home! It really feels like a family/ community gym. I love the pools, the outside walking trail, their various work out classes included with membership. Oh & adore their volunteer garden run by the extremely friendly Andy (not quite sure that's his name). He even gave me a bag of free freshly picked veggies from their garden. It's breathtaking & attracts so many beautiful birds I've never seen before. What I love most about this place is Gina (possibly short for Regina) at the check in desk. She's a tall woman with dreadlocks. She makes me feel welcomed & like family. My mother also adores her. It's bittersweet but she's the reason I decided to finally write a review after so many years. In passing she let me know that her last day is July 4th, 2024. I am so happy for her growth & her new career opportunity at another location. However, I'm also sad, I won't see her anymore. I can't explain it with words but she's so warm & genuine & not in a overbearing way. She just sees & understands everyone that walks in. I believe she really loves her job! Where ever she goes will be so lucky to have her on their team.
All that to say that this gym is phenomenal. & what sets them apart from any other gym is the service! Nearly everyone is so friendly. From security to the cleaning staff & aerobic instructors. They all say hello & wish you a good day. I also love seeing the employees in classes or on the trail with members. It's so cool. I wish other gyms would adapt that kind of unity as the Salvation Army Kroc Center has mastered. Kudos to your team.
The only suggestion I have is to fix or replace the 2nd treadmill on the first floor. There's only 1 down there that works & the senior citizens (my mom included) tend to wait for it rather than go up the steps where more treadmills are available. I get it i hate steps too.
Keep up the great work!
I will miss you dearly Gina!

Things so bad there now with no hot water heater they need to start Latin paid members bring at least one or two people free with our pay membership having no hot water is very unprofessional and disrespectful to paying customers.
It's a shame because this Jim has a great pool area this gym with for Adults and kids, BUT NOW these Church going folks and gold digging billionaires getting billions of dollars from their customers and won't even fix/ replace the hot water heater like scam artists scamming their customers out of $100 a month but it don't come with a hot shower? Crazy people need a hot shower after sweating and getting musty after working / exercising, so this place needs a hot water - heater and need to scrub brush the shower stalls with awesome and degreaser and Dawn, once a week at least. And need a extra worker for that, really. Like other gyms, you got a few racist Karen's that come there. Like the old white Karen that had a problem with the black people use soap and put stuff in their hair and do their hair properly before leaving locker rooms & and call security over a black person doing their hair. Which really just only makes me concern if she got lice cuz she doesn't clean herself properly, it's sad white people won't talk to how the bad properly with a washcloth and now some parents don't even teach their kids how to bath properly, and just sitting them in a tub of water to soap in the dirt & get a bacterial infections and in their dirt or soap really, sad, smh

WOULD NOT MAKE ANY ACCOMMODATIONS FOR MY AUTISTIC SON!!! There are NO special needs programs. My son is not able to use any feature or service of the facility except for the pool which he can only use with an attendant. As anyone knows the memberships are expensive so I can't afford to get one for my son and each of his staff. I spoke with every manager up to and including the facility director to request that my son be allowed to purchase a membership and have one staff accompany him to use only the pool a couple of times a week and they all flat out refused to help in any way. This is supposed to be a christian based organization. WHAT A LOAD OF CROCK!!!!!

I don’t like that they don’t do guest passes anymore and also they don’t open up the water slide at all due to not having enough lifeguards and some of the people at the front desk is rude and they don’t care about satisfying their customers because all we do is complain about them and nothing changes from these complaints for the most part so therefor i might go somewhere else im very disappointed bc i been going here for over 8 years and they need to put that big giant bucket back that fills up with water over the pool and dumps out the water back into the pool.

THE WORST… I mean THE WORST. They reduced the pool hours … discontinued guest passes (which are not free anyway) they using the lifeguard excuse for over a year (but the lifeguard are wanting more hours) make this make sense please… this a very nice facility with very poor accommodation… totally not worth the membership fees PS…every day something is wrong or cancelled ?

BRING BACK DAY PASSES ! YOU WERE HELPING MORE PEOPLE THAN YOU HELPING NOW. EVERYONE CANT AFFORD YOUR MEMBERSHIP. THINK ABOUT THE FERN HILL PARK CHILDREN AND ADULTS. YOU ARE SAVING LIVES. IF YOU LOOK UP KROC CENTER IN WEBSTERS IT WILL SAY IT MEANS EVERYONE. BRING THE DAY PASSES BACK. WE DEPEND ON THE KROC CENTER FOR MORE THAN YOU KNOW. IT'S EMBARRASSING TO KNOW THATDAY PASSES ARE GONE CAUSE IT SPEAKS A MULTITUDE OF DISCRIMINATORY PRACTICES. HIRE MORE SECURITY. DEDICATE 2 DAYS A WEEK FOR DAY PASSES. YOU HAVE TO START SOMEWHERE. I KNOW YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IT. ITS LIKE SAYING WE ONLY SAVING CERTAIN LIVES. COMMUNITY MEANS EVERY AND ALL CAUSE ITS ONE BODY. YOU DO HAVE CHURCH SO THERE IS FORGIVENESS. ARE YOU AWARE THERE IS A GUY WHO LIVES IN FERN HILL PARK ALL YEAR . YES EVERYDAY NOT SOME DAYS. EXTEND YOUR OLIVE BRANCH.

Very nice facility… however don’t be fooled they really don’t care about accommodating their members/guest the pool closes @12 noon doesn’t open back up for 5 hours for no good reason and sometimes it doesn’t open back up at all… haven’t allowed members to bring a guest in 8 months with no good explanation and they have said when guest passes will resume again. When things brake they take forever to get them repaired and computer lab is closed and exercise classes cancelled frequently all since Covid…. But yet they continue to fool people with the look of the facility by having open house showing the fancy pool, the chapel and two stories of exercise space just so they can continue to take people money ? SMH. Don’t do it cause it’s nothing convenient about the place more inconvenient.
