Beautiful gardens. There's a lot of shade upon entering the gardens. Grass that specifically grows in the shade will make this part of the garden look more lush.

This historic rose garden was blooming and lush when we walked through in November. It's a free public formal garden near Washington Square Park and the Independence Mall. There are some benches for relaxing. If you want to do a quick historic Philly garden tour, it's across the street from the Magnolia garden and a block from the 18th Century English garden. The rose garden was dedicated by the Daughters of the American Revolution.

When the roses are in full bloom, the garden is magnificent! ?? It's a nice quiet place to have your lunch, read, or just relax.
