Great location. Relatively safe part of Philadelphia in the historical district. Surrounded by excellent restaurants. Excellent customer service. Room size and amenities better than expected.
Rooms: Relatively large rooms, compared to New York City, for example. Most with excellent views of the park across the street or historical structures. Very clean with excellent amenities.
Nearby activities: All of the important National historical sites dating back back to the declaration of independence and before. Easy drive by Uber to Sports complex for concerts or sporting events. Excellent local restaurants.
Safety: Strong security and hotel and we’re relatively safe region of Philadelphia. No concerns about walking outside either day or night.
Walkability: Located no further than several blocks from national historic sites. Safe area both day and night. Fine restaurants also with an easy walking distance.
Food and drinks: Several great restaurants around hotel, and restaurant in hotel much better than average for breakfast lunch or dinner.
Noteworthy details: Perfect location for exploration of Philadelphia historical sites.

We stayed here for a wedding and the room was ok. A bit outdated and oddly decorated. The bar service was good except due to only one bartender and a lot of people the service was very slow. My main complaint is that when we were leaving a canvas print (read wood frame) picture fell off the wall and injured my foot. You could see where this picture had been hung multiple times but not correctly. I have called the hotel on three occasions to be told the manager would reach out and have not heard anything. I will not stay here not recommend this hotel due to its lack of customer service and lack of sense of urgency to resolve anything. I have waited a week to post this review to see if I would hear anything but…..crickets….

I didn’t actually stay in this hotel, but the front desk staff were kind enough to store our luggage for the day when my hotel wouldn’t. I wish I would have stayed here!

I stayed at this hotel during the first week of October and I will start with saying that Nasir was amazing. He is polite and truly cares. The bartender Jacob was also great.
The problem came with the other staff. One night my brother was racially profiled in the lobby by a staff member who apparently did not think that he was guest at the hotel. He was told that the lobby would be closing when it was not in fact and there were other guests of a different skin color also in the lobby. This staff member did not give these guests the same message.
I approached the management the next morning about this incident and Nasir, addressed my concern and did what he could to remedy the situation. I of course appreciate his efforts, but can you ever really remedy racial profiling? I was shocked that this behavior occured in the so called City of Brotherly Love and in an establishment that features a picture of a Black woman on it walls.
Additionally, the TV remote didn't work well, there were broken lamps in the room, worn furniture and stains on the linen.
So basically, do stay here if you want to be close to historic sites. Don't stay here if you are a person of color expecting to be totally treated with dignity and respect, or expecting a truly top tier hotel experience.

I stayed a week used valet services and over all had a great experience. The hotel is located in a good location you will be able to visit all the main tourist attractions near by. I also had to Uber to further out locations but nothing that was an inconvenience. Also the hotel is located by a lot of good walking distance to food places. This said hotel staff was nice and friendly my room was made up everyday and me and my family had a good time in Philadelphia especially it being our first time here. If you and your family are looking for a nice, decent place to stay centered around the majority of tourist spots to visit I would recommend this place! I will definitely stay again when me and my family return.

Decent hotel, nice and clean and a great location. Room didn’t get cleaned for a 2 night stay. The 2 elevators were down and the only one available was the service elevator which was a 15 minute wait to cram on with hotel staff and other patrons. Nicer and more reliable Marriott locations in center city.

I am a Marriott Bonvoy member and I have traveled to many different Marriott hotels and I have to say I am pretty disappointed by this hotel in comparison to normal Marriott property.
Starting with the positives, the lobby and main restaurant it was absolutely great. The location of the hotel was great as it was right downtown and close to a lot to do and see. The house keeping and front desk staff were also great - the main issues were honestly with the room.
We were in town with a large group of people and at least 2 of their rooms had no AC or the AC was broken. When we got into our room it was pretty worn down, more than what you would see at a normal Marriott property. The nightstands were falling off the wall, the desk chairs were completely worn down, the couch was pretty dirty and worn. I was honestly surprised.
Additionally, the rooms were SO DARK. Like so dark I was turning on the flash light on my phone in the middle of the day. There was no overhead light (common for hotel rooms) but the only lights in the room were 2 small reading lights on each side of the bed and one lamp in the room. The full length mirror was in the front doorway with no lights anywhere near so it was pretty much pointless to even have it there. All of the walls in the bathroom are black which makes it extremely dark and not conducive to getting ready, and half of the walls in the bedroom are black. I truly have not ever been in a hotel room so dark.
For being over $300 per night I was pretty disappointed in the condition of the room.

PRO's
- Great location! Great proximity to all the tourism sites in Center City and Old City. Even the Philadelphia Museum of Art is walkable if it isn't too hot and your kids aren't too little.
- Rooms were fine/clean. Representative of other Renaissance or equivalent Marriott-tier hotels.
- Front desk, lobby, valet, etc were all friendly.
- On-site restaurant is a plus if you don't like to venture outside for local options in the morning. But I really suggest going out! Cafe Walnut, Eggscellent, and Lil Susies are great nearby options.
CON's
- We stayed an entire week. Our room was cleaned by housekeeping the day after we checked in and then never visited again. I could call for service, but should we have to?
- We also had a late afternoon checkout on our last day. Housekeeping did not seem to be in the loop of things and came by 3 times in the AM asking when we were leaving. Rude.
- Room has a tub/shower combo, which is a plus, but the tub is not that deep so don't be thinking you're taking a long soak after walking all over Philly.
- Lighting in the rooms is insufficient during evening hours. They should put a lamp by the chair. In our room, the chair was next to the adjoining room door and there was no nearby outlet. Seems like poor design, but I they probably could've used an extension cord...
- Did I say that the lighting was dim? For a nice 4-star hotel, you would think they wouldn't skimp on the bulb lumens...
OTHER COMMENTS
- We were on the 9th floor facing Chestnut St. There was a friendly neighborhood bell that rang every hour until the late evening hours. There was also quite a bit of street noise - angry/drunken yelling and what seemed like a car that drove by very slowly every night blasting their music.
Rooms: Rooms are dimly lit. Bathroom has a tub/shower combination. Tub is kind of shallow and not suitable for soaking.
Nearby activities: Right in the middle of Old City and Center City so that means these are all within 15 minutes walk - Betsy Ross House, Elfreth Alley, Liberty Bell, National Constitution Center, US Mint, Federal Reserve Bank, Museum of American Revolution, Independence Hall, Visitor Center, Benjamin Franklin Museum, Museum of Illusions, Carpenter's Hall, Benjamin Franklin's grave, Reading Terminal Market, Chinatown, and more!
Walkability: Great location! Great proximity to all the tourism sites in Center City and Old City. They are all within 5-15 minutes.
We even walked back from the Philadelphia Museum of Art (albeit we made stops at the Rodin Museum, Franklin Institute, and Chinatown on the way).
Food and drinks: There is an on-site restaurant. We had breakfast there (it was okay/average). I would suggest going out for meals.

Good in everything. It doesn't exalt or depress. Adequate price, breakfast should be included for the price paid.

Hotel is very well located and looks nice.
Service and cleanliness are far below standard though. The bathroom had hair. The carpet in the room had a big hair ball. There was a large sticky area in the carpet by the bed (gross) and the tub drain didn’t work so we couldn’t take proper showers. Cleanliness should be higher priority.
I expected Marriott standards to be higher.

Beautiful and immaculate hotel in great location. But I was most impressed with the staff who were all extremely friendly and responsive. I asked if someone could check on my AC and two maintenance guys came up within 5 minutes. They fixed the issue and offered to get me a new room. They even went downstairs and got me a new key for a room on the same floor to minimize any inconvenience to me. Housekeeping cleaned the room daily- most hotels stopped this after COVID.

Great location, cozy room and very comfortable beds. Only the water pressure in the shower is too low.
