Fairmount Pet Shoppe
2024 Fairmount Ave, Philadelphia(Please enjoy the included photos of my now almost 1.5 yr old merle border collie getting attention from staff, playing with a puppy, meeting one of the owners cats, as well as her first ever visit to the store when she was about 10 weeks old. Also enjoy the pics of some of the past adoptable rescue cats in the window!)Where do I begin? This place is awesome. From the awesome owner and her store kitty Boo, to the adoptable rescue cats in the window, to the loyalty program with many brands that save you so much money, it's just the best. Dogs always get a complimentary treat at the register when they come in. The treats available are so diverse and it's great to try something new with my pets every couple weeks. The staff is very helpful and kind, and it is overall just a priceless staple of the neighborhood. I highly recommend stopping by, even if you don't have a pet! Because they have rescue cats in the window that you can pet and bond with (thanks to Greenstreet Rescue) and lots of great stock to get a gift for a pet owner in your life. Definitely check them out, I love this place.

Pet Friendly Dog Bakery
4324 Main St, PhiladelphiaIf you have a dog, you need to get yourself here! I am so in love with this sweet shop and will be stopping by every time I am in Manayunk, which is usually with my pooch since it's on our way back from hikes at the Wissahickon. This bakery has a play area which I didn't even realize until I went to write this review, and they also have the cutest cookies, treats, accessories, and goodies for your dog. The staff here was the absolute sweetest and the vibes are just very good. My dog was so happy to be there and thoroughly enjoyed her St. Paddy's Day "lucky" cookie later that day. They were having a dog party later in the day, replete with doggie beer (LOL) treats, and playtime. I am so happy to know this business exists and will absolutely be getting my dog's birthday cakes and treats from here moving forward. An excellent addition to the already very dog-friendly Manayunk. Feel free to replicate my new dream Saturday: long hike at the Wiss, brunch on a patio, and a stop by this awesome shop. Tell your dog I say hi!

They did an amazing job and even took me in when they were overwhelmed and super busy. Which I'm sure lasagna ( the cat) appreciated! I know I did.
They did the best they could to not make him look ridiculous, and then went over and above by dropping him off at my place of business because they were unable to take him right away.
Thank you so much.

I am a middled class man and every other vet I have seen has given me outrageous prices.. $3000+ however, Fairmount Animal Hospital has cheap and great prices. The usual price I pay is around $300 cheap and worth it 100%. I'm actually shocked to see all these one star reviews.. Dr. Eynard actually cares about his customers and takes his time to actually give you an overall view on your pets health. I recommend this vet if you are looking for a cheap and welcoming place. Veterinary Emergency Group
1213 Walnut St, PhiladelphiaTwo weeks ago my Kings Charles Cavalier's health declined seriously in the middle of the night. He had been suffering from from neuropathy in his back legs and he now had a temperature and was yelping in pain. From the moment we walked in to VEG on Walnut Street, Philadelphia, Dr. Megan and her team of nurses treated us with such love and were so comforting. She listened and gave me the options for moving forward. Finnegan was at the end and we decided to put him to sleep. It was a heart wrenching decision and my sweetie died in my arms. They also arranged a cremation package - ashes, footprint and hair lock - that arrived a few days later. To have such wonderful people with you when you make end of life decisions for your pet is so heart warming. Thank you all so much for your kindness and understanding. With gratitude. Renee Jones

City Cat Vets
2210 South St, PhiladelphiaEveryone here is super personable and informative. Dr. Knighton and the Tech that checked out Fred, my 10 week old street urchin, were super gentle with him. They gave me a clear overview of what to expect for upcoming visits. They also used treats to help Fred be calm while he received care.
I also really appreciated that the front desk staff is able to give you a ballpark quote for the cost of the visit. There's nothing like being blindsided with fees.
I called around to a few places before picking City Cat Vets. Their pricing seems very fair in comparison.

The staff scheduled us as a new patient immediately with kindness and empathy. During the visit, the doctor and staff were extremely attentive, concerned, caring and knowledgeable. They were gentle and patient, as our cat Dixon was extremely fearful. We left feeling that they truly care and that Dixon received thorough and excellent care. We are extremely grateful and will be making them our new vet for Dixon and our other two Casts.

I instantly felt at ease when dropping my dog off and am amazed at the level of expertise, thought, problem-solving and ongoing support we've been shown from HD Dog Training. Ally (I need to check if I'm spelling it correctly) is one of the best owners of a dog daycare I've encountered. She truly cares about her dogs, employees, parents, etc. Each dog knows her and is offered a treat when they leave. They have sleepovers, fruit days, ice cream days, bubbles during day play, etc. Baths are offered for an additional cost as well. I honestly cannot say enough about how professionally run her company is; we're so thankful for her. They are open Monday through Friday and on weekends only when they're having a slumber party (which is by reservation only). You can make reservations online or via Instagram messenger. Stronghaus Dog Training Center
12323 Wyndom Rd, PhiladelphiaMeet our baby Frankie, she is 7 months old German Shepherd mix, and was a handful and a 1/2, until we met Chris. The whole time he had her, I was missing her something awful, even to the point where I was even okay with the no sleeping, the stress of her not learning how to walk properly, and scared of everybody, including her own shadow most of the time, but I'm glad that we gave her this chance with Chris. She is a joy, and a love, and she deserves so much especially a chance to show how good she can be walking on a leash, and behaving while she's with other people and other animals. She did have it in her, and Chris was just able to find it in her, and bring it out. She walks so nicely and she's learning to make friends with people when she was scared of them before. She even has a young lady who comes 4 times a day to walk her for us, and our contractors are now able to come into the house without being afraid of her barking or jumping on them, and tonight is the first night she was able to sleep in her cubby. I am so proud of her. And I am so so very proud and thankful for Chris. I appreciate all the time he took with her and I was so scared that it wasn't going to stick, But it did. Thank you again, Chris, for all you done. You are truly a dog whisper. Thank you for helping her.

Café Tolia
26 N 3rd St, PhiladelphiaStart to finish an amazing meal. Started with the service. The woman behind the counter was so pleasant and seemed so happy for us to be dining in the cafe that it really set the tone for the whole meal. Lentil soup: Soup of the day. I love that the lentils were whole and not puréed. Came with a nice dipping bread that was perfectly toasted. As were all of the breads! Hearty portion of soup in an adorable bowl. Tolia classic: Admittedly a skosh hard to eat as the meat kept popping out of the bread. This was always going to be a hit. Burrata almost never disappoints and this complementing the rest of the ingredients was lovely. Oven gold turkey: A truly unexpected hit. A small detail but the fact that both top and bottom breads had the pesto sauce was a deal maker. The cheese really just pushed it over the edge. Bomboloni: Chocolate hazelnut filling in the middle. Very savory. Not a huge pastry guy but this was a nice suggestion out of the case of pastries. The space itself is adorable. As a tall person I wish I hadn't chosen one of the short stools but that's my own fault. Plenty of tables. Would definitely come back to try the other sandwiches.

37 E Palmer St, PhiladelphiaGreat place to go to avoid the mud (if you stay to the front of the park); as it is mostly cobblestone. Running water is available for water bowls.

Penn's Landing Dog Park
1 N Delaware Ave, PhiladelphiaIt could be a little cleaner but this has been my go-to every morning for about a year now. I’ll come here and sit there the water to think. It brings me a solace that’s hard to find.
