Since 1969, the Painted Bride Art Center has embodied a bold idea: art doesn’t just fill space—it transforms communities. Founded by a collective of visionary artists in a former bridal shop on South Street, the Bride has long met disinvestment with imagination, creating cultural sanctuaries in dialogue with communities often left out of mainstream narratives. Housed in a restored two-story carriage house, the new Project Space offers over 3,200 square feet of flexible, community-facing infrastructure. Its open layout first floor will serve as a dynamic public engagement zone, while the upper level hosts administrative offices and artist studios. Designed for gatherings, workshops, exhibitions, and cultural activations.
