It’s unexpectedly pleasant hidden gem of Philadelphia. Proper place for the hunters of exotic antiquities (mostly from South and South-Eastern Asia).

Lovely honest people with a very cool warehouse setting and easy parking. Specialty is antique rugs, tribal, and outsider art. Not good for fine art. I consigned several dozen pieces and lost in the 5 figures. They don't have highly knowledgeable staff in fine art nor do they have the clients. Good for buying and maybe I'll try that. They pay promptly.

Amazing customer service! I was monitoring my mother's email account long after she passed away and saw a message from Material Culture about an item she won at auction from before she got sick. They were very persistent to get the item delivered to her, and worked with me to arrange delivery to our family. A wonderful gift from beyond! Thank you MC!

This auction house using lies owes me 17.000 for two items of mine they sold 20.000 almost 6 months ago for which I have documents to prove it,see below the sale receipt. They block me on social media so other people dont find out about this. The last months they do not reply to my emails not even to my lawyers which gave us no choice other than to start a lawsuit.VERY unprofessional and disappointing. For anyone who has in mind to collaborate with this establishment, please do think twice if you dont want to end up in my position. These are also the photos of my familys artworks they sold under contact and never payed me my money. If anyone out there is the buyer, please let me know

I was so excited to visit with my girlfriends. But I just didn't enjoy anything about the store. I have shopped a fair share of high end boutiques to no-ad thrift stores, and this place is clearly a store for pretentious people who want to impress others with weird pieces. (Do they really sell those hideous masks to anyone with a real sense of style? Or to anyone at all??) I had the heebeejeebees walking around in there, and I'm not superstitious or flighty, but the place just had a very "heavy" feeling, like a weight was on my shoulders the whole time there. And don't get me started on the prices... overpriced, on purpose, IMHO, for those who think the higher the price, the more precious the item. The only thing precious is the first breath of fresh air you get when leaving this gaudily overdone made in china sham of a store.

Fabulous art and artifacts from around the world! The pricing is middle of the road and stays affordable. Plus some smaller shops featuring global family clothing and accessories. Enchanting atmosphere all around and the music is refreshingly eclectic A big plus.

This was my second time there. I find that theItems are either too huge or too small at this place. Perhaps this helps their clientele who keep them afloat but not an average antique buyer in my opinion. Also, they seem to have moved their hand made rug collection to the ground floor from upstairs, but most good rugs are wrapped up instead they have some cheap rugs covering the floor, which are not impressive at all. They should cover the floor with the beautiful handmade rugs that are wrapped in the corners in hiding.

I love this pace for all the unique items they always have. Lots of inspiration! I have bought some furniture and accessories over the years, that I absolutely love. Visited recently to shop for wardrobes…

Just a very strange, cold, completely disorganized place. I have tried several times over the years, most recently today, and I cannot imagine how they are still in business. Often items are unmarked so you must beg a person to help you. Now the upstairs portion of the building is off limits to customers? This is what I was told by the cashier hastily as she was eating her bag of chips.
