I made an appointment the day before and when I called day of they said I had nothing scheduled. In addition I arrived to my appointment 5 minutes ahead of time and they didn’t start until 10 minutes after my appointment and ended 10 minutes early so I really only got a 45 minute massage instead of an hour.

First off Jaz & Mia are awesome soon as you walk thru the door great service. I fell asleep 3x’s during my massage I’m drawing a blink on my masseuse name but she was more than amazing extremely helpful. Advice if it’s your first time like me make sure you know who is available for your time slot for preference of male or female masseuse. Request Deep tissue or ask for other add-on offers to get the best experience. Would have given them 20 stars if I could!

Unprofessional cancelled my appointment at the last minute wasn’t accommodating lied about calling me a day before online says they closed at 8pm my appointment was for 4pm when I called to confirm my appointment, they told me that they close at 3pm which I didn’t understand if my appointment was at 4pm I booked for 2 people they call and said one of their masseuse called out and one of us could get a facial at 4pm and other one can get a massage at 4pm but we booked for 2 massages I told him we don’t want a facial I still wanted to get massages. He said he was going to call me back and never called back then when I reach back out, they told me that both of my appointments was canceled altogether. Very unaccommodating and unprofessional

I am a hand of stone member I have been for a while. I went to a new location; because the appointment I had at another hand and Stone was canceled. Due to an emergency. I visit the University City location. I had a massage with the girl name Dinisha. She asked what was I looking for certain areas that I needed her to work on within the massage. I let her know that I always have a lot of tension up in my shoulders and neck area. I also let her know that every time I go to get a massage they work a lot of knots out of my shoulders. When the massage started it was more like she was rubbing me down with the oil, she asked how was the pressure; and I let her know she can go a little harder. She began to use her elbows which did not feel good. I purchased the Menthol soothing cream as an add-on. That was not used until she had me turn over and lay face up. She applied the cream to my shoulders, rub my shoulders for a minute on each side and that was it. This was the worst massage I've ever had. When I let the lady at the desk know about my bad experience, she immediately said I need to communicate what I was looking for was the masseuse. I let her know I explained exactly what I was looking for and what I expected. Then she proceeds to tell me that I should have booked a deep tissue massage. I've been to Hand and Stone locations all over and never had to book a deep tissue massage, to get medium pressure. That was not a massage.I was rubbed down with oil the whole time. I also let the lady at the desk know that I felt the same way walking out that I felt walking in, my back was still tight none of the knots were worked out of my shoulders or neck area. I am extremely upset that I wasted one of my spa packages to get rub down. I should have stop the rub down and walk out mid massage, that's how disappointing that service was. I will no longer return to this location. I did not like the way my concerns were handled. Oh she did take off the $10 for the mentholcream addon. That Big waste of my spy package. Very Disappointed.

I've had great service at this location. I previously was getting my massages at the Bala Cynwyd location and the person providing the service kept changing each time. Cancellations were also problematic. I recommend Taylor, who has been my masseuse for over a year. I have recommended him to friends and they have always been pleased with the service.

Owner is very unprofessional when dealing with customers. Even more so, as a cancer survivor, there was no empathy during the conversation. The owner continued to display frustration when I attempted to understand the policy for cancer patients and survivors. The owner himself seems like he didn’t fully understand the policy as he had to keep reading it to himself to get an understanding. He continued to wave the laminated policy paper in my face and didn’t bother to try and calm down because I didn’t understand why I was being refused service. I remained cordial until he waved the paper in my face. Then I let him get the best of me. During initial intakes for bookings over the phone, questions in regards to your health needs to be address right away so customers like myself don’t have to drive far to get service you trusted and had service before at other locations. Hand and Stone is a great company, just not at this location.

The spa itself was attractive. The entrance, however, when using the elevator was through some sort of storage, dump area - not at all inviting. I arrived a couple of minutes early. My three treatments should have taken 2 hours according to the times. The first treatment, however, took 50 minutes, then the next two treatments, a Swedish 'aroma' massage and a cold stone face massage were collapsed into 40 minutes. This was more than disappointing. Nick, the massage therapist, was skilled and professional, and I would have liked the full massage time. Also, the aroma was basically something on his hands and not mixed into the massage oil , as I had expected. In effect, I had a 30 and not a 60 minute massage. I do not understand why the therapists do not have the flexibility to adjust the times. I should have been finished at 1:30pm and yet I was ushered out of the room at 1pm. Furthermore, I then went to the bath room to among other things comb my hair. When I reached the front desk at 1:12pm, I was asked why I had been in the bathroom for 12 minutes. It was a shock to be questioned about why I had been in the bathroom for 12 minutes. I am not a child, and I have not on the clock as the therapists are. When I complained about the short time for the massage, I was given a $10 discount. If fact, I should only have paid 50% for the massage. But i was more interested in the full massage time than in a refund. There is something too strict about the rules of the spa that seem to focus on emergency alert buttons and instructions on behavior rather than the enjoyable, relaxing experience. I will be looking for a new spa next time, and I would suggest that your professional therapists also look for new places of employment.

Beyond upset ?, this morning was my 1st time receiving a professional massage and it DID NOT TURN OUT HOW I expected, I feel like I waisted my time and money to walk out the same way I walked in but even more Stressed, I felt like I took a shower just for someone to put oil on me, it was NOTHING RELAXING about my experience, the female ask what I wanted and DID NOT DELIVER, there was also No way I was in there for an Hour, my time definitely got cut short! Unbelievable! This was not the experience I was looking for, I asked her to really work on my lower back that NEVER HAPPENED! I WILL NOT RETURN OR RECOMMEND ANYONE ?
