My wife and I were expecting our first child recently. My Wife was about 6 months pregnant when we found out our daughter no longer had a heart beat. This was a shock to us and I personally have never dealt with the cremation process or a funeral home in general. The first time I reached out to Mcafferty I spoke directly with Mark and explained our situation. From that moment until the process was over Mcafferty was there for my wife and I for every big and little step of the way. Every question I had was answered in a timely manner. It has become clear to me this is not just a business to them. I will spare you all the details but they went out of their way to accommodate us multiple times which I hope you can take my word for again. I spoke with Mark’s wife and I am familiar with other members of the family/funeral home. They are all the same as Mark. “When my mother passed it was really hard to deal with emotionally. My mother always wanted Ms. Sheffield to prepare her for her going home arrangements even when she was well. My mother really loved Ms. Sheffield's personality and she was very proud of her accomplishments. When it was time to have her body prepared Ms Sheffield listened to my concerns and my fears about putting my mother to rest. She encouraged my sister and I to bring what we would like for our mother to wear. The one thing I will never forget that was so special was she made my mother still feel warm when I touched her. That still brings tears to my eyes. My mother looked like herself as well and she was so beautiful. Dealing with a love one passing is very tough. Ms. Sheffield is very professional and dedicated and she truly made this time easier to handle.”

“Normally I visit this funeral home along with other one in same town for Indian Funerals, But today I thought to write the review so that can be helpful to our Indian community, yesterday I went in funeral of my Late friends’s father and it was not crowded and I would say was about close to 100 ppl. This funeral home would be good for ppl around 200-225 as parking space restrict. My one star less to this location is because parking on premises are very limited and if you are late in funeral you have to park along side road which can be dangerous as ppl don’t have patience to let funeral attendees cross the road if no one present to help cross the road.
Other than that like I mentioned it’s good for small funeral.”
“The reviews are shocking. That is why I had to write a review. I haven't had ANY bad experience with Brian or his staff. I had my mother service here 2016, grandmother, 2017, father, 2021, great aunt 2024. The staff was compassionate, friendly, welcoming, professional. They answered any questions that I may have had and kept me updated during the whole process. Yes, the space is small if you have a large family. Parking is off street. But the location is in the heart of North philly. You have to be from North to understand. Brian is affordable and will help you out the best way he knows how.”

“This review is to Thank Wendy Palmer and the staff that worked with her while handling my Mom home-going service. Things were handled in a very Professional manner. They took care of all the needs of the family. If there was any mistakes it was not on her. She requested photos to be given to her in a timely manner and had to stay up late the night before to get things done . As for the announcement cards she was waiting on a picture from the person who was suppose to be in charge. The program had to be proof read before it was sent to the printer the night before. She worked very late trying to get things finished in time for the service. As for the picture it was I who purchase it which did not come out of the family funds at all.The cost did not matter to me and my husband. I thought the Crown presentation was Beautiful also which was done from her heart. I would recommend the service of Distinguished Memorial Chapel to others and have them request Wendy Palmer.
