Good workout place. Nice and modern. However, I wish they have more equipments, and maintenance should be quicker for broken ones. Sometimes it takes months. The open hour is very restricted, and they have many closed days for holidays a year.

The gym is busy, that's undeniable. The rock wall is only open during the week, no weekends, from 4-10. But the workers are nice. The pool has pretty restricted hours also, because Drexel S&D practices there. My partner and I try to workout outside if peak hours, but even at 7pm we can usually get a squat rack and do our lifts.

Great place to work out. It's a full size gymnasium for everyone, not just Drexel employees.

The facility is overcrowded for the number of people it serves. Locker Rooms are not clean (mildew growing in toilets, flies in the showers), hours are very short. Facility is not air conditioned well so it often smells like body odor (worse than other gyms) in the summer. opens too late and closes too early plus facility is frequently closed for no reason (sometimes for extended periods up to two weeks long) with little to no advance notice of service disruptions. Avoid this gym unless you are a student getting access for free.

Drexel Recreation Center is a multi-level facility with two full floors of weight training and cardio equipment. It features a 25 meter pool, an indoor rock climbing wall, basketball courts, and squash courts

VERY busy all the time. Not enough squat racks and there aren't ANY wipes to clean equipment on multiple floors?

Super crowded. A lot of machines don't work and have not worked for a long time. Gym employees are all students, most of whom don't understand the needs of gym goers (including management)

Why are the basketball courts always blocked off from 6-10 pm every single day? Upvote if this needs to change. Ridiculous

Such a great gym for Drexel students and alumni. Very clean facilities with tons of machines, a full indoor basketball court and an indoor track. It’s free for students which is a huge plus!

All things considered it’s a great gym to train at. They have everything you could need and as long as you don’t go at peak hours you shouldn’t have a hard time finding equipment.

Nice. Clean and not crowded most of the time

50% of the adjustable cable machines are broken and have been broken for past couple months. Really ruins the usefulness of the facility.

It’s a great gym with all the amenities one would need in a gym. Great environment to work out

EQUIPMENT:This place does NOT have adequate equipment for a large university with tens of thousands of students! There's 4 benches in the whole gym, 2 of which are flat. There's also only 1 leg press machine and NOT ONE calf machine. The only prone hamstring curl machine is single legged, so it takes double the time to use it. This machine is almost ALWAYS taken, and if not, someone ends up working in or waiting for me. They DESPERATELY need a prone leg curl machine that is NOT single legged. Finally, the size of the free weight area is HEAVILY lacking. They have free weights in 4 different sections of the gym, but only one section has anything heavier than 50lbs. Naturally, this section is always PACKED and is almost impossible to secure a spot if it’s busy.CROWDEDNESS:I am there almost everyday, and I’ve been there from as early as 6AM to as late as 8PM. It gets slightly busy around 8AM but dies down after an hour or two. It starts to pick up again around 3PM or so, and this is when it gets really bad. From 4-7PM, especially on common days like Monday and Wednesday, the gym gets PACKED. I mean, can of sardines packed. I’ve been a regular member at MANY gyms, so I’m used to crowded gyms, but I’ve NEVER seen anything like this. The lack of machines combined with the overpopulation of members really makes it difficult to workout, ESPECIALLY during prime times (4pm -7pm), it’s nearly impossible.STAFF & HOURS:The current schedule isn’t terrible for students. However, they heavily reduce the hours during break weeks between terms. It’s nice that the facility is “student ran” but they really should hire someone or a few people to operate the gym during these break weeks. Students just shouldn’t be solely be relied on, especially when you have 1 student operating the ENTIRE gym. As for the students who “run” the facility, it’s hit or miss. Some are very helpful, know where the equipment is, and organize and clean regularly. OTHERS HOWEVER, not so much. Some aren’t familiar with the equipment what so ever, and don’t bother cleaning or organizing. They are nice, but clearly some take it as a cushy few bucks. For someone who pays 70,000 a year to go to this school, it kinda sucks when you ask for help in your gym and the worker says “I don’t know” or “let me find someone who can help”, and then proceed to wait for 10 minutes.OVERALL:Overall, the gym is OKAY. It needs more equipment and more space. They also should make the gym more available during break weeks and maybe train their staff better.FYI: this review is only for the gym section. I have no experience in the pool, rock climbing area, or any other section.
