We purchased recessed lighting and sconces for a bathroom remodel. Not only did Kazan ( the owner) spend plenty of time going over our options, he chose great looking fixtures which were delivered earlier than promised. When I came time for the installation, I contacted him with questions from our electricians. He answered the questions and emailed me instruction sheets for the electricians to use. That's service!!!

Bulb Lighting is a small lighting shop filled with the best of contemporary light fixtures. Every piece is an icon of modern design, all displayed with refined taste. Bulb also happens to be located a few blocks from our apartment in Center City, so when we were planning the remodel of our Rittenhouse Square apartment Bulb was the obvious first choice for our light fixtures, and for planning the hard wired lighting. We soon found that the owner, Kazan, is a master at planning interior lighting. Our preference is to have hard-wired fixtures provide the predominant light source. The apartment is large, so this required many (over 100) fixtures. We totally gutted the apartment, which facilitated installation, but it wasn't easy. In particular, getting the right lighting in the 18-foot ceiling of our huge living room was a challenge. Kazan has a low-key style that belies his extraordinary range of knowledge and talent. He was the easiest person on our project to work with, and the results are as close to perfect as we could ask. Every room has the right level and distribution of light, and it was accomplished without using an excessive number of fixtures. Many thanks for a superlative job!

First, their inventory is excellent. Their customer service is beyond excellent. It could not be better. We had an appointment for 1230 to pick up a repair and they were there to meet us at 1220 when we arrived early.

We have worked with Bulb in the past and know he is difficult to deal with. No regular store hours; you have to make an "appointment" to meet with him at the store. Today was just the worst. Hot, sticky humid day. I arrived about 5 minutes before our "appointment" and was greeted at the door, after ringing the doorbell, with a grouchy "What do you want?" We were for many years in the hospitality business and know that the first ten steps, the first ten words and the first ten seconds make or break a situation. Well, Bulb may think he is in the lighting business, but he is in the hospitality business. Instead of "Welcome, come in out of the heat, have a seat and would you like some cold water, it was what are you doing here; your husband was supposed to call to confirm the appointment, stay standing on my doorstep in the heat." He reluctantly let me come in, when I promised I wouldn't listen in on the conversation he was having with his current appointment. How about look around, see what you might like to talk with me about, and make yourself comfortable? Well, no thank you. We will find somewhere else to serve us in a more hospitable manner.

<3 such a creative curation of amazing products. Sure.. this stuff is expensive and as a small business owner he's not always 100% there during his Google hours - but if you're a local and can stop by, it's highly recommended. Perhaps call ahead if you're planning on making a trip of it ; )

Working with Kazan was a pleasure, and we would strongly recommend his lighting design services to others. Our project was a renovation of our second floor and addition of a third floor to our row home. Our needs were relatively straight forward: recessed lighting in hallways and baths, task lighting in baths, fan-light combos in bedrooms, closet lighting, and outdoor lighting. We shared our style (contemporary) & finish preferences with Kazan, and he took it from there. We went with 100% of his selections, and he credited a portion of his design fees to our order. He shared tracking numbers with us reliably. When one item arrived in the wrong finish (an oversight on both our parts), he quickly arranged for a return and sent us a replacement immediately. He even offered to send a courier to pick up the incorrect fixture. Excellent customer service, great design sense, and a lot of class!

While entirely renovating my kitchen, I went on the search for two pendant lights for over my island. After visits to several stores, all the pendants and other lighting fixtures started looking similar and I wanted something a little different. Finally, I went to Bulb, a boutique lighting store near Riittenhouse. Place was great! There were so many lights that I loved. Although I spent a little more than planned, I absolutely LOVE my light fixture. It is so different and was SO WELL WORTH IT!!! The owner was a pleasure to work with. Go here if you want lighting that stands out from the rest and is special. I also loved the fact that the place is not a factory but a small comfortable boutique lighting store.

These guys were very nice to my Mom . She drove her little cabinet light all the way to Philly to try and get the thing open. I, unfortunately, do not carry screw drivers in my purse. Fortunately the bulb staff have them at hand and they helped her out, no problem. If your mother needs help with complicated lighting fixtures please send her here.

I have shopped at a few high end lighting fixture stores and it is nice to have one right in the neighborhood with such a knowledgeable friendly owner. Kazan is great. He stocks a selection of fixtures that are always tasteful and interesting. His store is a very nice compliment to the larger spaces in Old City. Bulb is a very good store. It isn't Home Depot or Lowes so the quality is higher as are the prices which I happily say you get what you pay for. I recommend Bulb

Although it was more expensive than what I was looking for, Bulb seems to have a nice selection of cool looking lighting. Nice shop too. Just opened up in the past month, so it's undiscovered. If you can go there now, you can say you knew them before they got big.
