Nice, small museum where it seems to have diverse rotating exhibits. Visited with various natural aviary and landscape illustrations from Charles Wilson Peale and John Audubon.
Furthermore was fortunate to see their Family Fun day, participate in a few activities to collect postcards of featured artwork and a free prize, was a great event for all ages, even has a local animal illustrator, and not crowded!

Its history is incomparable, the guide was very specific in the history of the museum and explained everything in detail, and made those present participate with questions and even invited the children to take part in the discussion. Excellent museum and very well maintained.

There are some interesting pieces of written history about flora and fauna of eastern America. There are a few taxidermy birds and plenty of neat field drawings. It is free, and donations are encouraged.

Free entry to the museum exhibits, I came here to see the women in science exhibit. I enjoyed it, but there was a big lack of women of color being represented, would have loved to see some current women scientists as well! Beautiful building and friendly staff

This unique museum opened in 2001. It is a hidden gem near Independence Hall that our family visits at least once a year. The museum is located in Philosophical Hall, a Georgian style building erected in 1789. The Society was founded by Ben Franklin. His statue keeps a watchful eye from across the street. The museum's annual, changing exhibits celebrate advances in science and American history. Admission is free, with donations welcome.

What a terrific exhibit; Pursuit & Persistence: 300 Years of Women in Science, a new exhibition at the American Philosophical Society's Library & Museum. The exhibition explores how women scientists have overcome obstacles to achieve breakthroughs, make places for themselves in science, and help others along the way

There's nothing extraordinary about the exhibit's material or presentation that I saw when I visited here, but it was still interesting enough to keep me engaged through the entire visit and it's a free museum. Nothing here is worth going too far out of your way to see, but it's a nice free one hour detour from the other attractions in the area so I'd still recommend it.

This was an unexpected rare find. We found this museum on the way out of Independence Hall. The current exhibit is Women in Science and it is a good balance of informative and fun facts. Admission is free and the staff are welcoming and knowledgeable. This is a great spot for a temperature controlled short detour after exploring Independence Hall or the Liberty Bell.
