This Acme is a total disappointment. They keep items on the shelves that are expired. I went to the bakery today and I picked up a piece of red velvet cake only to see that it was expired and had been on the shelf for six days. I asked the bakery Person if they could see if there were any pieces of cake in the freezer. She didn’t respond to me, but she did walk into the bakery area and throw down a cake on the counter and walk into the freezer. She came out with a handful of red velvet cake and per proceeded to price them. She handed me a piece of cake. It wasn’t until I was checking out that I realized there was a finger hole in it as deep as a finger can go and it looks like the piece of cake dropped. I have to think that this was purposeful. What a gross disorganized lame excuse for a supermarket. Get your act together, clean up the store, get better management, and train your employees how to treat customers. I don’t think I’ll ever coming back to this market, which is a shame since I live a few blocks away.

at least it's clean ... the produce is as all Acme's is overpriced trash (rotten salad and wilted vegetables are a norm). For some reason there is no baskets now - only giant carts that weigh so much that they will dislocate a back of an ordinary person even when empty... supposedly the message is that you intend purchase so much junk food that you will Only need a Buick-sized wagon to wrestle through the store... If you can - drive to Wegman's. You are less likely to get poisoned by preservatives and you won't spend a week's salary on over-processed grim food impersonations

Yet again this store disappoints!! I rush to get to the deli counter which should be open until 8pm but was told they’re closing the deli early because of being short staffed. So instead of cutting some stuff for me which would have taken 5 mins tops, i was sent packing. I’m tired of hearing lame excuses from overpriced incompetent stores. But they didn’t forget to jack their prices up though. Not that it matter since you can’t buy what you need anyway. I assure you i won’t be shopping this store any longer. The place has a bad smell to it and is dirty not to mention the terrible produce section with rotting fruit and vegetables and expired items still in shelves. If you’re going to be arrogant to your customers and have higher prices than anyone else the lest you can do is mop the floors and spray some kind of air freshener but this is another disappointment from the Acme company where not giving a damn about the customers is par for the course. Seriously pathetic!

Great customer service from all the cashier's. Mid week selection on the meat area was not good. Everything else was stocked.

Good Food, Free Parking & I like THIS ACME on, Mermaid Lane & Crittenden Street in, Chestnut Hill, BETTER than the other ACME on, Germantown Ave. & Sedgwick Street! Their Chicken tastes, MUCH BETTER! & Their DELI STAFF IS MUCH MORE FRIENDLIER! & THE ATMOSPHERE IS LIKE A BREATH OF FRESH AIR!

During checkout I said, "I have a digital coupon for a $2 discount on this cantaloupe." When the cashier was unable to scan the QR code that I showed from the ACME app, he snidely said "you should learn to use the app before coming to the register, ma'am."
While I followed his instructions to enter my phone number on the keypad, I commented "you shouldn't be scolding me for not knowing how to use the app, because the app literally said for me to redeem the coupon by showing you that QR code." He responded defensively by saying, "ma'am, I wasn't scolding you; I was giving you information." I refused to accept his assertion. I pointed out that his comment gave absolutely no information -- it was gaslighting (victim blaming) me for ACME's defective app.
The cashier didn't apologize for his poor choice of words, but just told me to enter my phone number on the keypad. I did so, and he snapped that I needed to tap the touchscreen's green "enter" button. I spoke in defense of myself by saying he should not chide me for failure to tap the touchscreen's enter button, because I had already pushed the green-circle button on the keypad, which is equivalent to what he wanted me to do. He realized that he had jumped to a false conclusion when my account information did EVENTUALLY come up while I was defending myself. The real problem was ACME's slow computer system, not my incompetence about how to enter a phone number.
After entering my number, the checkout display showed only a $1 discount. I said that the digital coupon promised $2. The cashier decided to gaslight me AGAIN by saying that I needed to "clip" the coupon in the app. I stated that I had already done so. He didn't believe me, so he asked me to show him the app on my phone again, which was still on the screen that he took it to when he first accused me of not knowing how to use the app.
The cashier said he didn't know what buttons to tap to see clipped coupons (which was ironic given his earlier irritation about people not knowing how to use the app). I showed him how to bring up the list of clipped digital coupons, where he saw PLAIN AS DAY the app's instruction: "to apply coupons at checkout show QR code." Yes, it was the same QR code that he originally denied was correct, and he seemed befuddled by it. He had to attempt scanning it several times before his system FINALLY accepted it.
Because the checkout screen still was showing only a $1 discount, I asked the very reasonable question about why the promised $2 discount wasn't showing. He obnoxiously replied with a sexist gaslighting phrase that no man should ever utter to a woman who has been speaking firmly (without shouting) in her own defense against false claims of her incompetence. He said "ma'am, you need to CALM DOWN. The remaining $1 discount will be on the printed receipt." Huh? Calm down??? My question was reasonable and delivered in an unemotional manner, but he reacted as though it were engulfed in flames of estrogen-fueled hysteria.
Rather than arguing with him about the ridiculous confusion caused by ACME's display showing only a $1 discount (with the additional $1 nowhere to be seen on the checkout screen), I decided to object to his telling me to "calm down". I stated that I had not once raised my voice or failed to follow his instructions, so it was unprofessional for him to tell me to "calm down." He responded, "Ma'am, I am sorry if you think I was rude." I told him that I didn't like his insertion of "if you think". His apology was worse than insincere -- it was just more gaslighting (victim blaming).
This cashier wasn't displaying a name tag, but the receipt said his name was Timothy. I do *NOT* blame Timothy for my crappy experience at ACME's checkout. N

This review is in no means intended to the shopping experience inside the market but for the grocery pickup, so I’ve had grocery pickup in the past and the young gentleman that brought my grocery has manners and promptly served me, unfortunately the last two pickups I’ve had recently was done by an older woman who clearly either doesn’t follow directions or cannot read when the app says on my way instead of outside. The last and very last time I must emphasize I decided to do pick up I was 5 mins away from the market and I’ve updated in the app “on my way” once it was available but for some odd reason ON MY WAY means I AM HERE whenever she gets a ping or even bothers to look in her store pickup device, she comes bolting out saying “ I’ve been out here twice and I haven’t seen you! WELL DUH BECAUSE I CLEARLY CLICKED ON MY WAY AND NOT I AM HERE SO THAT WOULD TELL YOU I HAVENT REACHED YET!!! SMH ??♀️ last time ever doing pickup at this acme, the acme by ridge ave is way better when it comes to pickup.

Long lines because they do not have a separate, dedicated register for beer and wine sales like most modern supermarkets. Better than the Mt Airy location, though.

This is my favorite Acme in the area. Robin was so accommodating and thoughtful while filling my drive up and go order. When I had to return a few items she was helpful and quick to help as well. Great customer service.

Clean and presentable. Some of the prices are a little better than Walmart especially for Salmon. Lots of variety for foods.I don't like the paper bags for packing though. They are flimsy and they charge for them. You have to buy reusable ones and carry them with you. Good for the environment but can be a nuisance if you get more than what you have so plan ahead.

I bought a cupcake from the Chestnut Hill store to give to someone else. It was in the main case with the decorated cakes, so it was not pre-packaged and labelled. The person behind the bakery counter packaged it and labelled it for me to to use at checkout. I was mortified when the recipient opened it. The cake part of the cupcake was super stale and felt hard. The icing decoration was rubbery to the touch, like caulk. Totally not edible. I cannot believe that the bakery staff member sold this to me. If it doesn't already have a date label on it, beware!

I don’t get this store. It closes down and barricades the main entrance at 7:00 or earlier. Is theft that rampant at this store that you can’t even keep an entrance open past dark? Then you have to walk all the way around to get a cart if you want one because no one thinks to have them by the only entrance made available. Also they got rid of hand baskets too for some reason, which is also very inconvenient for those that want only a few items. They rarely have more than 1 lane open with a person to ring people up with 4-5 other employees hanging around, the rest is self checkout. Management of this store seems to be trying to make it inconvenient and uninviting to shop there.
