These guys are awful, you can not tell if you ordered on the website, there is no phone number. You have to hope they will deliver. Awful.

Helverson Brothers delivered a cord of wood the other day, and it is the best firewood we've had delivered in years. Barry Helverson is a man of integrity, and his product bears witness to that...Highly recommended!

I have been using my woodstove as my primary heat source for 9 years. I had a soapstone wood stove installed so I wouldn't have to wake up every few hours to keep the fire going in the dead of winter...so I know a little about this topic. I am very confused by some of the reviews posted here regarding Helverson's. The wood was delivered as promised and dropped where I wanted it to be dropped. It was clean as opposed to another vendor who rolls the wood in mud and calls it "seasoned". And while it's true there was a lot of "scrap", as mentioned below, that scrap is called "kindling" and can save you a fortune in fatwood or fire starters if you know how to use it. And I actually covet the large pieces because those pieces guarantee I will still have hot, glowing embers to work with in the morning on very cold nights. My only issue with Helverson's is they don't take credit cards.

Wood is the size of boulders and not seasoned. Had to split all of it to get it to burn

just ordered 1 cord, first, 2 large wheelbarrows fell of unusable scraps. 3 large wheelbarrows of usable small pieces. Not seasoned. The wood was supposed to be stove size. Most of it was but a fair amount of large pieces, which needed to be split and more unable to split due knots. Not worth the money

All smoke and mirrors ( no pun intended)They advertise seasoned, clean wood. Unfortunately not the case. Not seasoned, some unsplit giant pieces, and a pile of debris. Also not cut to 16 inches so many of the pieces will not fit in our stove.

Helverson shorted a cord of wood several years ago and gave me a very hard time providing the full cord. Last year I got my wood elsewhere. This year I spoke to someone who knows the dad and he told me that he cleaned up his act. Helverson is charging more than everyone else for a cord 275 vs 240. He confirmed delivery of a cord but he now wants 285 claiming diesel fuel is very expensive. He's an overpriced cheater.

Received well-ground mulch within 24 hours. Looks very nice. Although we provided a check for the amount asked, he knocked on our door and asked for $50 more because we didn't pay the tax on the delivery last year or this year. After we paid him with an additional check, I checked my bookkeeping. Last year we paid him $424 which probably included the tax. At the most we owed him $27.

This was the first year I bought firewood because I hadn't gotten around to chainsawing and splitting my own. 100% satisfied with quality, quantity, delivery. People give two stars and complain about the small chips and small pieces in the load of split wood because they dont realize what they have is useful and basically free-- its perfect tinder instead of newspaper. Put it in a box or wheel barrow and keep it dry, makes great hot-burning tinder.

I honestly don’t have much to compare it to, and most of the firewood companies have pretty bad reviews. I figured it’d be easiest to show in pictures what I received. I ordered 1.5 cords of wood. Everything that is not stacked, is wood that was barely split, that I am halfway done manually splitting it. This wood also not really seasoned.

I ordered 2 cords of firewood and it was delivered promptly. The delivery was a decent mix of hardwoods; mostly ash and red oak with some other stuff mixed in. The length of the firewood was inconsistent and pretty disappointing for the price I paid ($275 per cord.) A good portion of the load was huge, partially-split chunks less than 16" in length (picture short, stumpy logs split in halves or thirds.) I had to bust out the log splitter and break these pieces down to a more manageable size for stacking and burning in my stove. The biggest disappointment, however, was the amount of dirt, bark and other debris mixed in with the firewood. In 10+ years of ordering firewood, I've never received a delivery this filthy. And yes, I understand what to expect with mechanically-loaded firewood deliveries. To put into perspective, once stacked, the actual amount firewood measured out to about 1.75 cords. The dirt, debris and other junk that was mixed in with the firewood filled a 96 gallon trash bin, a 32 gallon trash can and two 30 gallon lawn & leaf bags. In the end, I got about 1.75 cords of firewood and about a 1/4 cord of shake.

Good sized cord, good quality wood, not thoroughly seasoned unfortunately and some logs need to be split 1 or 2 times to fit in stove.

I ordered 2 cords and received it on 10/13/22 and paid $275 per cord plus $30 delivery fee. Total paid $580. I just got finished re-splitting and stacking the wood day befor Thanksgiving.I had to re-split more then 3/4’s of the pile of wood because it was way to big to use in my large wood stove. He advertised it was 16 inch logs. Well I measured logs that were over 24 inches long, 22 inches are the longest I can burn in the stove. Then I had logs that had to be split 1-5 times to get a normal size log. The wood was to be dry and ready to burn, well some was and a lot was not ready to burn. It was wet on the inside after I split it. Then to top it off it wasn’t 2 cords after split and stacked. More like 1 and 3/4’s cords. There was a huge pile of sticks, roots, and wet dirt left in my driveway that had to be cleaned up and discarded. I bought from Helversons for quite a few years totaling 10 cords total and always got great firewood and never had to do anything but stack the wood. Well Helversons have lost a customer, I will not be back to buy any firewood from him again.☹️??
