Dr Dinger and staff are so amazing. We have taken our pets there for several years. They are compassionate when we had to put our cat down. They have taken such good care with our new fur baby. They always take time to care for our animals and be compassionate to our needs.

After at least 4 pets being treated here, I no longer recommend this animal hospital due to the most recent unprofessional treatment my puppy and I received from Dr. Dinger and the office staff. I was not being "demanding", nor was I trying to give the office staff CKC, and TLR, a "hard time". (They put this in their notes, which I read when I asked for all 3 of my dogs' records to give to a new vet.) I was being assertive and advocating for myself to find out what was wrong with my pup and what I needed to do to help her. Did she need medicine? Is she contagious to my students, family, and other dogs? Can I come and pick up the medicine so I can help her get better? I didn't know what was wrong with my 4-month-old puppy but I was treated by the office staff like I was a bother or annoyance for wanting to care for my pup in a timely matter.
All Dr. Dinger had to do was call me back and give me 30 seconds of her time, but she wouldn't. I called 3 different times and waited on hold for 30 minutes before the call was disconnected. When I went into the office, Dr. Dinger said that she was busy and was going to call me "when she got around to it". She was both rude and hostile toward me in her demeanor and comments.
Because of this incident and the fact that it is so very hard to schedule an appointment in general, I believe that Pittsburgh East Animal Hospital no longer has the capacity, staff, and professionalism needed to give all clients proper and professional care. I also think that they need to update their business model so that Dr. Dinger / doctor on duty, is not the only one who can attend to the needs of their clients. No client should have to be treated the way I was. I felt disrespected, ignored, dismissed, frustrated, and hurt. I also feel mocked after reading the staff notes regarding their (the front desk staff), version of what occurred.
I will now unfortunately begin a search and find a more caring, compassionate, and professional vet hospital somewhere else.
Addendum:
Wow! I just read A LOT of reviews on this site and there are MANY complaints against Dr. Dinger and the office staff! I am not the only one. What a disgrace!

I have been a client of PEAH since 2005. Currently have 3 much loved dogs and had a number of "puppies" who have been part of our family who are still loved and missed every day since crossing over that bridge. The one thing all of them have/had in common is that they have received top notch care from the doctors and staff at Pittsburgh East. Two of my dogs had serious health issues and Dr. Dinger diagnosed, treated and extended their lives and kept them happy and in good health. I can't begin to say how very much I appreciate Doctors Dinger and Pope, the techs and staff at PEAH. I am always treated with the utmost courtesy and respect and would never take my dogs any place else because I want the very best care for them and this is where they are going to get it. Taking care of your animals is a two way street - the staff does theirs and its up to us as owners to do ours as well.

I used this veterinary in service for a long time for my former pets and they were wonderful. Dr. Pope is great. Have you used this vet and Dr. Dingle and it was the most horrible experience I ever had. She is very unprofessional and very uncaring. I would never have any of my pets ever see her. The vet tech was very compassionate and very caring . And I would love to bring my foster dog in to see Dr. Pope but only Dr. Pope. Will definitely try to use this vet again

I am a courier and drive through three states nightly. I was gifted a boxer puppy from my family to keep me company. Pgh East spayed my dog for me on Monday 8/8/2024. The procedure cost me roughly $800. When my dog was brought out to me after her procedure she was not wearing a cone. I was offered a cone as an after thought. I refused thinking it was optional. Thursday 8/11/2024 after finishing my route in Frederick Maryland I went to the gym leaving Maya in my vehicle only to return to what looked like a murder weapon with blood everywhere. Her insides were hanging out of her incision from her licking her wound. I found an emergency veterinarian in Frederick that I believe took advantage of the situation estimating 4-6k to repair the damages. I make a payment or 2400 and head back to Pennsylvania. I receive a call from that vet telling me another 4700 will be necessary. The front desk calls back later to charge my card and now that debt increases to 5k. I either pay the 7400 dollars or have to head back to Maryland collect my dog with her insides hanging out of her body and lose my initial 2400 payment. This would have all been avoided if the cone was on my dogs head, as I was told it should have been, when she was returned to me or if the importance of a cone was stressed when I was offered one. My spayed went from $800 dollars to 8200 dollars and put my dog through unimaginable pain due to the incompetence of Pgh East and the greed of care veterinary hospital in Frederick Maryland.

This vet that is so called "so compassionate and strives to be the best place for your animal" is furthest from the truth. My German shepherd, whom of which I have taken there his whole life is now about to be 14 years. He has recently went downhill in the last few days and with an attempt to get a change in pain meds to his normal meds my wife was told that they will not change his meds till he is seen. The dog will be lucky to make it to his 14th birthday this Tuesday and all we wanted to do is to see if the sudden change was from the brand switch. Front desk was so rude to my wife and disrespectful that I will not be taking my next dog or any animal there. As a loyal customer it is disgraceful that the vet also could not call my wife back with the concerns she had. One can assume they want to see my dog to drain as much money as they can out of you for blood work and wellness check. He is 14 years old if the pain meds are hurting his kidneys then he will at least not be in pain but now we are lost in what to do no thanks to this place. Actually, the last time he left that place he could barely walk and all they could say was it was the floor when he walked in perfectly fine going in. Would highly not recommend this vet and hope they can have a change in heart for their patients and customers.

It was horrible no compassion when our 19 year old cat had to be put down for kidney failure. We were put in room they took our cat left us in there for 45 minutes came back with our cat had a mask on him that covered entire face. My husband said get the mask off his face Dr Dinger said no I can’t he was already dead they didn’t let us hold him or have a proper goodbye it was an awful experience caused PTSD for my husband and I not having a proper goodbye and the assistant that was there was cold hearted. Horrible experience! Don’t take your furbabies here they are awful.

I took my German Shepherd there for the first time and he loved it! Lol. he was having very painful/itchy ears.they had to swab the ears which he freaked out about that, but the vet and tech were SO sweet. I almost wanted to cry because of how sweet they were to him. He got lots of pets and treats after. We will continue coming here!

After 20 yrs, I had the absolute worse experience I’ve ever encountered with any vet (large or small animal). I took my black Doberman to the Monroeville office, told them another dog peed on their reception desk. I figured they would clean it up. No one did by the time I was placed into an exam room, my dog laid down in the floor, stood up covered in yellow lab hair. I was disgusted. I went out to receptionist desk, still covered in the pee that after 1/2 hr no one cleaned up. I decided to leave and call the Greensburg office where I had a conversation with the office manager that apologized and booked me an appointment at the Greensburg office.I called that office a few days later because I realized I didn’t mark the appointment on my calendar to be told that after 20 yrs they’re ere appalled I would leave and call the other office. Well I told them about urine on the counter and they did nothing, what would make me believe I can get them to understand cleaning an exam room is necessary. I’ve been been in a vets office my dog left dirty while there for Roy time care. I surely wouldn’t leave my pet there for surgery or care if any sort.As a professional dog groomer I have referred this vet to countless clients and friends. I do not know what is going on in the office however until they can get their act together I would highly recommend avoiding both offices.I have never been more disappointed in any animal professional as I am with PEAH.STAY AWAY UNTIL CLEANING IS A PRIORITY, long time clients aren’t treated like criminals for asking for clean exam rooms and reception areas.
