“The agents in this office were very helpful and understand all situations for insurance. They gave the protections I needed and explained each to me and had me understand why they were important to have.”
“I had such a great experience with this agency. I worked with Pete for my auto, renters, and life insurance. He was very well informed about the products and helped me make decisions based on my needs. The rest of the staff was so friendly and welcoming when I went into the office.
I highly recommend this agency.”
“Edit: Okay - I just wanted to point out that there was a huge misunderstanding here. In the stress of moving across states, I didn't realize that doing a tax return for a new client would involve extensive work. Also, I did receive my local tax return - today, July 15th. Apparently there was a glitch over email and it just never came through until today. That's an issue that's out of anyone's control. Therefore, I am updating my review from 3 to 5, Connie was responsive to me even after all of this, and I'll most likely be back for 2024.
I recently moved from NJ to PA and I have a really complicated tax situation (multiple W2’s, 1099s, just bought a house, etc.). My accountant in NJ said they could file a PA return but I wanted to hire someone specifically familiar with PA tax law, which led me to Oakes Tax Service.
Unfortunately, I just don’t think this relationship was a good fit for me. I am used to going into an office and having my taxes done within the hour. This experience is all virtual. It was convenient, but I’m a micromanager, and I found myself constantly having to reach out for updates on the status of my return, as opposed to the business keeping me updated.
After my state and federal return was filed I had to specifically ask about local to which I was told “oh yeah I couldn’t find anything on your county”…and then suddenly they could…after hearing nothing up until about 3 or 4 days before local taxes were due, I was told they were sent to me via email and I’d have to send them in myself with copies of everything.
I never got an email and seeing that conversation took place on a Sunday, I gave it a few days and still received nothing. At which point I got aggravated and filed them myself electronically despite the fact that I had no idea what I was doing.
I ended up getting a state refund, only to receive a letter saying I underpaid my PA state taxes, and owed federal, to which I received a letter from the IRS saying I overpaid by $1200. I don’t get it.
Like I said, this service will probably work for you if you but unfortunately due to my personality and preferences, I found this to be a rather frustrating experience.”
