We had a very nice experience at Gibbons. I came in to have a trailer hitch installed on my car. They were ready when they scheduled me, the work was done well and every Gibbons person I encountered was friendly and personable. They even stopped what they were working on (this was towards the end of the day) to listen to an issue my wife was having with her car, which was not the vehicle in for service. Very happy with the service!

I have gone to Gibbons for oil changes for a couple of years now, and I've always felt they were reasonably priced, kind, and efficient. However recently when I have booked appointments for simple oil changes, they have made fixes to my car without calling me first to ask me if I want them to make the fix or not. So when I show up to pick my car up, I am billed for the fix. For example, a few months ago they replaced my back windshield wiper and charged me for it, without first calling me to ask if I wanted it fixed. I would much rather have replaced the wiper myself and saved money. I let it slide because it was the first time it had happened and I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately I had another oil change with them this morning and it happened again. They patched my tire, stating there was a screw in it. I didn't know about the screw and my tire pressure gauge didn't alert me of any issues. They did not call me or reach out to me in any way to ask me if I was OK with them fixing my tire, they just went ahead and did it and billed me for it. I understand that they may think they are doing me a favor, but I have a warranty with Costco for my tires and this patch they made could void my warranty. I would have rather them alerted me of the screw in my tire, and then I would have booked an appointment with Costco to have it fixed for FREE. All they have to is make a simple call to me before making any fixes to my car, and I could tell them yes or no. I would really appreciate that... but instead they just make the fix and bill me for it. Unfortunately since this happened twice now, I will not be returning.

Needed battery, Gibbons could have made me wait but took care of it got me back to work. Can't say enough about the service and workmen/women. Highly recommend them.

I've been a customer of Gibbons Automotive for many years. All the mechanics there are very knowledgeable and fair. It's a family owned local business which I strongly support. Mike the owner runs a very tight knit shop with excellent employees. From routine car maintenance to emergency car care they are always there for me and come up with fair and reasonable solutions. They even assisted me with purchasing another car when my car reached it's limited and was beyond repair. The process was smooth and seamless every step of the way from car purchase to vehicle tags to junking my old car. If you are in need of a reliable car consider purchasing one through Gibbons. I recommend Gibbons to the highest degree for all of your car needs from maintenance, repair and purchase! Gibbons and his staff can be trusted.

I don't like leaving bad reviews but this experience did frustrate me a great deal.
I made an appointment for 8:30am for a car inspection. Previously when talking to a representative, they told me an inspection would take an hour - ok no problem, that's standard. I drop my car off at 8:20am, ten minutes before my appointment time. I ask the gentleman at the desk if my car will be done before 1pm as because I had an appointment at 2:30 I needed to make. Was told "there's no guarantee" the car would be done by 1:00pm despite making an appointment for 8:30am but that my car would be done by the end of day. Weird, but I let it slide.
I call back at 12:30pm to check status and am informed my car has not been looked at still - almost 4 hours my car has been sitting there without being inspected despite the representative who made my appointment telling me it would take an hour. I go down there at 1:30pm because I need my car since my appointment is within an hour and I need to leave at 2:00pm to make my appointment
My car is still in the same spot I parked it in at 8:20am and still has not been inspected. What's the point of making an appointment if the appointments will not be done? Never have I had my car sit for more than an hour when needing an inspection, and this is coming from a family of mechanics.
If appointments will not be honored, then they shouldn't make appointments required and provide a turn around time of when services will be completed.

I don't like giving bad reviews, but I didn't have a great experience here. I brought my car in because my AC wasn't working and they told me that I needed a brand new compressor for $1600 (!) When I said I needed to think about having that done or not because that was such a huge amount of money, they said that I could pick up my car, but there was a diagnostic fee was over $300 just to have it looked at. They did not tell me this up front at all. Anyway, I went to another mechanic shop in Media for a second opinion, and they were able to fix my compressor (there was a leak) and the grand total was $250, no diagnostic fee, just the repair. I'm sure Gibbons is very skilled, but I just didn't like the way they spoke to me (I felt talked down to), and really felt like they were trying to get an expensive repair from me because I wouldn't know better. Just didn't love my experience here.

I believe the service and personal attention received from Gibbon's Automotive is what makes me want to return to have maintenance performed on my car. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
