I would give 0 stars if I could. I bought a car from Lancaster, PA CarMax 3 years ago. I bought all of the extra warranties and insurance. A few short months after purchasing the car, my turbo went out. This part is supposed to be good for the life of the car. Last week, my car started acting funny so I took it to a shop. They tell me that my turbo is shot and is leaking oil into my engine. I now either have to replace the engine or the car. Tried contacting them to rectify the situation but I am told "sorry it's out of warranty" or " I can give you a couple hundred bucks off". This is a several thousand dollar fix due to their shoddy repairs. Also, they told me they fixed it when they didn't, they took it to Faulkner Chevy. They told me they replaced the turbo, which was another lie as I was told, "no, we only replaced the lines going to the turbo". They will rip you off at every turn! Don't do it!!!!!!! BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!

Do not I repeat do not buy a car from them. I have had my car for almost 2 years and within a year it needed a new starter, alternator, battery, ac fixed, and it took them forever to even fix anything. The battery they replaced it with was used and not even a new one so I needed to replace that ready. Last year they replaced my alternator and was told it is bad again by another garage and they also say it was not brand new. I have the maxcare so they should have replaced everything brand new but they didn't. Buying a used car I know you run into risks but everything that has happened should not have with a car that should have been looked at before it was sold. I will never buy a vehicle from here again and would not suggest them to anyone

Purchased my Mini Cooper from the Mechanicsburg location. When they got the car ready for me, the salesperson noted that there were rips in the seats and told me they would take care of repairing them. When I walked around the car, I noticed that the wheels were damaged. A lot of curb rash. I told them that I didn't want the car because of that. A manager looked at the problems and told me that CarMax would take care of it for me. I was told that the ripped seats would be fixed and the wheels would be refinished. I have all the paperwork from CarMax, stating that it would be fixed. Well, it's now past a year of owning this vehicle and they have yet to do anything about it. I have been back and forth with them about this. I have called the corporate number, but got no where. About 6 months ago I tried to trade the Mini on a different car on their lot, but they told me they didn't want it. I tried working with the manager, but was then told that CarMax will not do business with me again. So at this point, they sold me a car under falsely promising me repairs that were never made and because of that, they will not do business with me. I can't believe this company is so big and treats people this way. What can I do?

This was the first time I sold a car here. It was super easy and fast. I got a quote on line. Set up my appointment and I was out in under an hour. Jarrett was super courteous and was very efficient. I would consider buying a car here the next time when I'm ready to buy again.

I bought a 2013 fiat abarth . When the car shipped to the mechanicsburg location I was notified promptly. Everything was pleasant however I must say there pre inspection of the car doesn't seem thorough. I noticed when popping the hood it had a cracked / freighed serpentine belt. The wastegate to the turbo had an elbow that was cracked and appeared to be silicone sprayed to try and fix it . I am not blaming them however I am a little sad it wasn't fixed before it was ready to be driven . The car is currently in there shop 1.5 weeks after owning it getting the belt replaced the wastegate hose replaced . A new bcm since the headlights wouldn't turn off unless you smacked the fuse box most likely faulty soldering. The thermostat also went bad I think because the engine wouldn't get up to temperature. So at the end of the day I'm glad they are honoring the 90 day warranty / 4000 mile thing but I must say this had me iffy and worried how will it be when I get it back. I just feel sad a little this is my first ever car purchase . The sales woman was outstanding got me done really quick. I just hope my dream car comes back in 1 piece and can be driven again properly without breaking so soon . Please inspect the cars more thoroughly and make sure there safe and fixed before the customer takes it off the lot . It was more the carmax before mechanicsburg for these faults.That is the only downside I will say . The service department seems to be taking good care of the situation and handling it well . I have had an easy process getting in the car once the car is repaired I will update the stars based off this experience and there ability to follow up with the repairs. Zach at mechanicsburg location was super kind and I appreciated how he made me feel .
(Update) so after two loaners and 4 weeks without the car all is well. They replaced the a.c , drive train belt , turbo wastegate hose and it runs very good. They replaced the bcm got two new keys synced and also had the headlight assembly replaced as the daylight running lights would not work. I am noticing it shifts a little odd when I try and get it into first gear but I emailed them to see what they say . Other than that carmax has honored everything I asked and I feel confident in saying I would highly recommend them. Zach is super nice and I'm sure it's been a pain in the butt but for this being my first real car purchase they made me feel like it would be taken care of . Also carmax corporate analyst followed up most the way and made sure it was handled appropriately. Thanks again carmax mechanicsburg for the repairs and for honoring your name !!! ? ? ? ? ?

Highly recommend this place especially to women. Always friendly. The staff is paid and hrly wadge not by sales. And anything you see on the web page they can get you from other locations with in a few days. I've bought 3 cars from them all have run wonderfully for years after. They are low pressure and very up front with everything. They also give you fair triad in rates based off Kelly blue book. They are the first place I go to if in need a new ride.
