I am so sorry I took my cat here.

Please note: this review is not a result of the staff or techs at MedVet. It is solely based on the level of abysmal MEDICAL veterinary care that was received.
My husband & I took our 5 year old cat here on a Sunday after noticing terrible seizure activity. We were terrified. We waited 4 hours to be seen. Medvet was busy this day, so ok, fine. We explained EVERYTHING about the sequence of events to the vet - notably, that our cat had eaten a wild rabbit 2 days prior. We were extremely concerned about rabies or other infectious disease, as we have two other animals at home. The vet was perplexed by the case but recommended we leave her there for testing & observation. Great.
The next day, we receive multiple communications that are conflicting. In the early morning they say our cat has high likelihood of rabies. Later in the morning we are told it's highly unlikely rabies, but they don't know what caused the seizures. Finally, in the early afternoon, we are told our cat needs to be put down because she has "uncontrollable idiopathic (unknown cause) seizures." We asked multiple times for the cause of this and told them WE SWEAR IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE RABBIT and they tell us no, lots of animals have epilepsy.
We go in to (according to their advice) put our cat down, expecting (as they told us) her to be lethargic and immobile. We get there & she's purring and acting pretty normal. We decide to leave with her contrary to their advice. Again, they start to bring up rabies (after it was already ruled out by the neurologist, who we paid extra to consult on our cat). I beg for an antibiotic IN CASE it's a bacterial infection. I am met with hesitation because they SWEAR THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH INFECTIOUS DISEASE but they let us leave with one. When we leave they still have no clue what caused these events. $1,600 bill in 24 hours and no answers, but at least we are taking our girl home. They were happy to recommend she stay longer or have us pay for expensive brain MRIs and EEGs to continue searching for answers.
We give our cat oral meds 4X a day for seizures for 3 days until we can get her in with her general vet. Meanwhile, I am researching online & come across parasites as a probable cause. I call medvet to ask for anti parasitic medication. I never get a call back from anyone.
General vet diagnoses her within 10 minutes of visit with a parasitic infection that traveled to the brain which came from the rabbit. He prescribes prednisone & an anti-parasitic. He is very confused as to why medvet would not have started with this line of treatment, as parasites are common, especially from rabbits. This visit cost $60. Our cat has been seizure free for almost 3 weeks after finishing this anti parasitic treatment.
Tell me WHY a $1,600 emergency vet couldn't figure that out & ignored our insistence that the rabbit was the cause & told us to KILL OUR CAT. We will never be back.
Please note: our techs were all AMAZING & kind and seemed to know more than all of the vets. This review is in NO WAY a reflection of them.

Extremely long wait times 8+ hours even though they were not very busy. Friendly enough but not sufficiently staffed to provide adequate service. Took more than 6 hours to get a first look from the vet…. Avoid this place if at all possible, even if you need to drive several hours to go elsewhere.

We took my nephews puppy there due to a bloated abdomen, and having difficulty breathing we were put into a room for over 40 minuets with noone checking on him.Our puppy seized up and stopped breathing I ran to the front desk and asked for help they finally came in and tried cpr but he died. Then they came in and offered cremation for $700.00 Really thats real appropriate 2 minuets after he died then they charged us $402.00 for killing our puppy due to their time delay of seeing him. If you have an emergency and love your pet take them somewhere else.

Extremely happy with my experience at med vet peters. They took the best care of my pup Remi after he was hit by a car. The friendliest front desk ladies (they were so sweet and calmed me in the traumatic time), the techs, the doctors, & the entire staff were compassionate and caring, kept me updated along the way, were thorough and CARED. Dr. Shrader was great, and Dr. Miller & Dr. Snow both did Remis surgeries on his femur and pelvis. He is now in his recovering phase and doing very well. I was so pleased with this entire team. Thank YOU for doing what you do!

I took my cat Sunday morning becuase he was experiencing a blocked bladder. After $4,000 I wanted to take my boy home, they told me he had to pee without a catheter first which he did and gave my discharge info and meds. He came home with no improvements. Took him back again they claimed he peed and needs rest. He never got better, brought him back and now he needs a $9,000 surgery. I took him to my vet for 1/3 the price. Only use MedVet if you have disposable income.

I was very pleased with the compassionate staff. Cara who is a tech was working the front desk helped me the wait was long but they were helping others and they triaged my dog immediately. I left Blue Perl after horrible service and came here. They let my dog stay with me because she was stable. I understand sometimes they can’t but that was important to me. All of the vets I interacted with were kind compassionate and thoughtful. I cannot remember Verona’s name but Nick who did our discharge was amazing as well. I could tell they genuinely cared about helping my do and not just my money like the other place. Also they immediately filled my request for my dogs rx food. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Definitely come get as opposed to the competitor down the street they are terrible.

Was here for two hours, after a $109 parvo test which was just done at the shelter nothing for two hours. Only one other person was there. Was trying to let them know we were leaving and nothing. The second we left they called for payment for which we left intro on a napkin in room after failed attempts to get their attention. Never coming back, Blue Pearl was 1000% more attentive and will continue to take our pets there. We could heat the staff laughing through the door and while we waited.

Very expensive and takes along time to go back. Felt like they didn't care bout my sisters cat. They gave her no hope. Then they changed how much it cost after what they told us.i feel like they dnt care bout ur pet. The people who had good experience I'm glad but the people like us who had bad experiences I'm sorry. I feel they are for the money only. They could of told us from blood work what was wrong and they jist kept taking money from us. So dnt tell me you care for animals when you people are like this. You should be ashamed of urselfs. Someone was trying to save there animal and u know all along what was wrong and took her money. How do u sleep at night.

Stay far away from this place! Was in 2 months ago with our family pet to get looked at. We sat and waited in the lobby for 6+ hours. The front desk staff never asked us how our pet was doing, if she needed anything, or provided any updates, period. Horrendous service and no compassion. We were then moved to a room where we waited for another 3 hours. A total of 9+ hours spent at this awful place. The vet that we ended up seeing was nice and sympathetic considering the day we had waiting with our pet. We had no issues with the vet, and she made sure we were not charged for our 9+ hour visit. Staffing must obviously be an issue, as this vet had come all the way from TX. At check out, the front desk girl said she would send the paperwork by e-mail to our regular vet and to us as well. She did not. Instead, she lied to our regular vet over the phone and said our cat was not seen at MedVet and they had no paperwork. Why would they do that? Very unprofessional! Never again!

Brought my sweet Prince Michael Jackson to MedVet today in a complete panic. Woke up to my pup laying in a pool of blood and diarrhea (sorry tmi). The staff from the beginning of the visit to the end were amazing. Such a kind, caring group of individuals at this facility. The Vet Techs were so sweet and patient with this crazy, hysterical, crying mom and took such great care of my Baby. Dr. Caroline Thompson was nothing short of amazing. She was compassionate and knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything going on with my pup. Would not hesitate to recommend this facility to anyone. I am so glad to know that we have such a wonderful emergency vet so close to home. Thank you all so very much!

Our dog, Duke, just completed his fifth (and last!) chemo treatment at MedVet. We've been seeing Dr. Anderson since his initial consultation in April. He had a thyroid tumor removed in April and started chemo in June. From the start, communication has been stellar (I even received photos after his surgery and throughout his overnight stay), everyone's been kind, and all our questions were patiently answered. I felt knowledgeable about our options and felt comfortable making the best choice for our pup.
Estimates were shared before every visit. As you can imagine, we've spent thousands in a few short months. But today, Duke graduated from chemo and his tests are clear for sign of cancer spread. Thank you to every tech and Dr. Anderson!!!

You never know what to expect with emergency vets because they often have reviews from people in the most traumatic and polarizing circumstances. I'm hoping to write as balanced review as is possible.
My cat was dying but I didn't fully know it yet. I knew things were bad, but not as bad as the vet found. We had to euthanize her, my best friend and companion of almost 10 years. I'm gutted and writing a review at 4am to... Cope?
The cons:
I waited 6 hours because she was put in the wrong priority. The vet admitted that the tech incorrectly labeled her gums as pink when we both could clearly see her white nose etc. If you won't let me in the room, train your people to put dying animal in the correct priority so she doesn't languish for hours.
They didn't offer updates until someone would just show up. If it was a couple hours, it's one thing, but after so many it would be cool for someone to say hey it will be another 1 or 10 hours or whatever.
They came to take my cat for examination without me in the room, which isn't ideal but I do understand why. But, I didn't get to meet or speak to the vet to explain things and she wasn't given any of the stuff my vet sent over. Hearing her cry in the other room not knowing what they were doing and who was doing it was really rough. They also did some testing without asking first. I was there seeking one of those tests and their pricing was fair so it was fine in my case. But, it might affect other folks.
This is not really their fault but there was a dude pacing back and forth directly in front of the semi clear glass of the euthanasia door which kept scaring my cat with every pass. I'm sure he had his own anxieties to deal with, but i didn't wanna leave her otherwise id have asked if he could back off a bit. Maybe moving the seating area down a smidge would fix that.
The pros:
Everyone was very kind and knowledgeable. The techs, reception, folks cleaning, euthanasia consult person, and the vet were all efficient and polite.
Once I did get to meet the vet she was really great, clearly very skilled, and found my poor cat riddled with agonizing things others missed. She took time with me, explained things, and felt like she really cared while also having good boundaries.
I've been through a lot of euthanasia in pets and rescue work. My cat's was as peaceful as it can be given the situation. I was very surprised that she didn't freak out when the vet came in because she's terrified of the car, the vet, and this vet just had to do all kinds of shitty stuff that my cat doesn't understand. She did a good job explaining the way death can look (not so pretty) without making it scary (even though i already knew about it.) The only thing my cat noticed was one part of the iv for a split second, maybe the liquid was cold. She went to sleep softly purring and hiding her head against me.
I felt like everyone just let me be a mess. I often try to put on a face around strangers and I was just a snot coated mess alternating between sobbing and detached intellectualization and I realized later that no one made me feel like I needed to act differently.
I spent way less $ than I thought I would. ER stuff can be extremely pricey and so I'm not saying it's cheap. But everything they charged me was pretty much normal cost with the exception of the $200 initial exam which is of course more expensive than a non ER vet. Par for the course.
I see some folks saying they had dirty rooms but the place was clean while i was there from bathrooms to exam rooms. And I'm more sensitive than average to that. Also, no heavy fragrance thank dog.
They accept care credit and will also work with you on cost plans.
I liked the electronic pre check in thin
