My puppy came here struggling to walk and with a 104 fever. They quickly figured out he was suffering from a deep tissue infection from his grooming the day before. All of the DRs and support people were wonderful. Kind, caring and wanted to help him get well. My puppy is alive because they got to the bottom of what ailed him quickly and got on top of his skin infection. I can't thank them enough. I highly recommend this facility - I drove over an hour to bring Cooper here and it was totally worth it!

Our regular vet recommended we see a neurologist at VRC. The visit was fine. Everyone was friendly and professional. It was an issue I experienced afterwards that is so unforgiveable. Our appointment was 12:00 noon on Thursday, 3.28.24. After we arrived back home, I realized I forgot to ask for an "Office Visit Summary". I called VRC, and they said it wasn't completed yet. I asked if I would have it by the end of the day, and they said I should get it by then. I didn't. I understand people get busy, so I assumed it would be completed the next morning. I waited until 11:00 am and called VRC. The representative said the doctor did not complete it yet. I stated that I really needed it so we could make some very important decisions for our dog. She said they had to wait for the doctor to complete it before they release anything. I asked if the doctor was in today. The representative said "No, she won't be back until Monday". I said "That is not acceptable. I cannot wait four days for the summary. Our baby is dying, and we have to decide what to do in partnership with our regular vet." I asked if she could reach out to the doctor to complete it. She said basically she can't do anything. I asked to speak to someone in management. She said I could talk to the office manager Hanna. I could not believe how rude Hanna was to me on the phone telling me she was going to hang up on me if I didn't calm down. Yes, I was emotional as our pet of 13 years was dying and deteriorating before our very eyes. No, I was not using inappropriate language nor screaming. Finally, Hanna agreed to send me the notes they currently had (which was simply our input about our dog's condition) and send a message to the doctor asking her to complete the Summary. Hanna did call me back within the hour and apologized for her having a bad day and stated she should not have taken it out on me. We did receive the Summary at 3:45 pm (which was too late to be utilized in our decision) and an email from the doctor stating "sorry it was sent a bit late". Not only did we receive it too late, we most likely would not have received it until Monday if we had not begged Hanna to reach out to the doctor. Needless to say, I am very disappointed in how we were treated and will never return nor recommend VRC to anyone.

the TPLO followup visits were very efficient. I arrived at appt time both times and my dog was immediately taken for xrays and back in 3 minutes with Dr. Franczuski to review the results. Both visits were super fast and time was spent on explanations. Very impressive service and organization, All is going well after 11 weeks and I expect a full recovery of my schnug

Dr Mcgough was rude and pushy. Wanted to just push us off on Penn Medicine and not even look at our dog. I would not go to this vet for any reason. There are other vets in the area and I would even drive an hour out of my way as to not use this vet

To be fair, I left a 5 star review years ago, when it was warranted. I'm not one of those ppl to just write negative reviews... I think really great experiences deserve reviews just the same. That being said, Dr. B is retired and no longer at VRC. This current 1 star review is for the horribly traumatic experience I had this past Friday evening at VRC with staff and with Dr. Paul J. McGough. My beloved 18 yr old 2 lb maltese was diagnosed with lots of tiny, inoperable liver shunts by Dr. Shelling (radiologist) when she was only 2 years old. We were told she would probably not live long. With great care, and with annual prophies with Dr. B, we got her through a wonderful 18 years. Three months ago, she was dx'd w/liver tumor / cancer and started a steady downward decline. For 3 months, we had more great days than bad while I gave her SQ fluids and syringe feedings of Hills A/D prescription diet. On Friday evening, my sweet Pixel had her first seizure, and after coming out of it, let me know that she did not wish to go through that again. I called over to the VRC and spoke with a very nice receptionist. I gave her the details of medical history, let her know that I still wasn't sure I'd like to come right in, but just in case, wanted to proactively let them know my wishes for a peaceful euthanasia using Iso or Sevoflurane to let her sleep before inserting the needle to administer the B-euthanasia drug. I let them know her heart is really strong, and that we would need a solid dose... probably a little more than typically recommended for her weight. I also let them know my wishes to remain with her THE ENTIRE TIME, with her in my arms, and that afterwards, I would like the vet to collect her tissues samples so that I could bank them with Viagen, in the chance that I decide to have them produce a clone puppy in the future. (please don't judge... you have no idea how very special my little dog has been to me and the bond we shared.) I do completely realize that this would not be to replace her, but to honor her and carry on her DNA, and that her clone / "puppy", which is how I like to think of it, would have it's very own personality and character and soul, but would be a little piece of her in same tiny package and with same health history, although would possibly live even longer since we knew and understood Pixel's medical hx and could manage liver issues even better. Plus 18 years is a very good long life for a tiny 2 lb dog!!!) I had my kit from Viagen and was ready. Anyway, the girl I spoke with checked with vet (Dr. Paul McGough) and came back to report that yes, they could do everything as I wished, and would not charge for DNA biopsy collection b/c it's something they've never done before and don't even have a charge in their system for. She said that he was the only vet there, and that they would both be there throughout the night if I needed them. At around 2 am, my precious girl had another small seizure. So we warmed up the car and headed over. On my way, I called just to let them know we were heading in, and that I had given her some melatonin, so she was resting quietly and there would be NO RUSH. I wanted this to be as peaceful and calm as possible for her. This is where things started to go horribly wrong. The person that answered the phone was not the same girl I had spoken with earlier. I asked for her by name, but the girl on the phone pushed back and insisted I tell her the whole story again. I asked again for the other girl. I was then told that she was not there. So I told her that the vet on that night was also aware, and just to let him know that we were on our way in for euthanasia. I asked how busy they were, and was met with "it doesn't matter... when it's a euthanasia, we rush you right on in as soon as you get here". I told her there is NO rush, and I don't want to be rushed! This is NOT a dire emergency... my dog is resting peacefully on my chest and I need CALM. She reiterated that they work quickly when it

Quickly diagnosed my dog's significant health condition and stabilized him. However, the ER doc took a really long time to tell me anything was wrong, and only after I overheard her tell another owner she was dealing with a "critical dog" and that's why he had to wait. I realized I was the only owner there who didn't know what was going on with my pet, and quickly put two and two together that my animal was the critical one. I wish that had been handled more sensitivity. The cardiologist that we needed was away for the week and we ended up being discharged and VRC did help with admittance to Penn and getting him seen ASAP, but in hindsight I should have gone straight to Penn. In the future, I'd skip VRC.

I saw mixed reviews so I wanted to add a positive one. We had to bring in our 14 year old lab/Aussie mix who had sudden onset of neurological symptoms and it became clear quickly that it was her time. The staff could not have been more supportive and kind to us. They all expressed their condolences and guided us through the process gently. Thank you to everyone working at VRC on Thursday, January 4th. You made a difficult situation easier for us.

My compliments to Dr. Sadanaga! He operated on my cavalier Bentley a few weeks ago (11/14/23) and today was his final checkup. The doctor is compassionate, friendly, kind, and a true professional. He is also an artist although he says no. He drew my dog's anatomy to show me the operating procedure. I appreciated this because it was easy to understand. A friend of mine referred me to Dr. Sadanaga because he operated on her dog for a similar surgery and she was so pleased with his service. I see a 100% improvement in my dog since the surgery, The doctor was happy to see Bentley today and even sat on the floor with him. I can't think of a better way to get to know a dog. I notice the little things too. I value Dr. Sadanaga's opinion and will seek his help in the future, even if it is for a second opinion. Thank you Dr. Sadanaga! A happy dog Mom, Kathi Peters

Pricey but I suppose all emergency vets are. I appreciate the speedy service here. When my cat had a medical emergency, I called 2 other emergency vets and was told there was a 5+ hr wait at each. VRC said I could come right in and it would be a max 1-2 hr wait. Would recommend (and have done so to others).

I had to put down my rescue dog Butler last night after only having him for 2 years. He was about 10. I want to take the time to post a good review because when I did some quick research on emergency vets while I decided what to do I saw lots of negative reviews of other places that people recommended I use. VRC didn't have a stellar rating, but I decided to go there because when I called there was no wait for a doctor to see him. They diagnosed him with a mass and internal bleeding and didn't keep me waiting long before updating me. I've never had to use an emergency vet before and they took the time to explain my options and the process and the costs. They were compassionate and gave me as much time as I needed with him. They seemed almost as heartbroken as I was. I'm glad I took him there for his final moments with me.

Stay away from this dr called Yun. She wanted to kill my baby, wanted to euthanize him. Misdiagnosed him and wouldn't even let me see him the night I took him there. She said is not fair for the animal, that he's under the oxygen and has his spine broke and will not survive. I have insisted to see him and after she resisted and made me wait for half hr I could see him 'before she was ready to euthanize him'. When i saw how he was looking at me from that oxygen chamber my heart melted and I said no, I am taking him home. He was ok hours before so was weird.. She was so very angry and made me sign some paper to take him out. Next morning I took him to my vet and everyone was surprised about euthanizing him and diagnostic. Today my baby is the happiest in the world. He walks and he's a happy soul. I am not going to leave this as it is. After this dr yun's judgement, an innocent soul would have been taken. I wonder how many animals may have died in there killed by her and her poor judgement. this must be addressed to save other lives and I will.

I really wish I would have dug into the reviews a little more but my family was desperate to help out Louie. On 9/14- after calling around to multiple vets looking for an MRI and a neurologist, I sent my family here with our French bulldog. What ensued can only be related to be locked in a room with no light. For the cheap price of 10k, our dog had a hemilaminectomy performed by one of their vets. NOT by the neurologist that they led us to believe. They kept our dog for days even though we kept telling them he would eat and urinate at home and be overall more comfortable. They didn't go over the images with us- didn't explain why they were taking chest rads- and we still don't know what vertebrae was affected. The initially estimate literally just said- 9-11k. Where is the itemized estimate? There were no in depth daily updates for our dog or the charges. And they have not ONCE since we brought him home called to see how he is. Our discharge was basically here is instructions on a piece of paper, see ya later. All for a dog that isn't walking and needed his bladder expressed physically (per the vet). Louie is home and he is peeing just fine on his own. So we still don't know why you kept him longer than we agreed. We still don't know why he wasn't tapered off prednisone for the inflammation in his back. You don't return calls. Shame on you. Avoid this place. All the care about is the bottom line.

I can't recommend VRC and Dr. Chia enough! My 1.5 year old dog needed a root canal and within 30 minutes of calling VRC, I spoke to Dr. Chia and we had a consult and surgery scheduled a few days out. Dr. Chia was incredibly thorough and walked us through our options so we were able to make an informed decision. VRC made a very stressful event so much easier. 10/10 highly recommend!
