I dropped off a VW Golf to have an interlock device installed. The car ran perfectly fine, was just inspected on 7th street a half mile before it was dropped off, and passed emissions without a problem, no lights on the dash. I had this car for 4 years and have never had an issue. It started every time and never let me sit once. It was a very reliable car until Canal Street Auto Sales got ahold of it. Canal Street Auto Sales called a day or 2 after it was dropped off and said the car needed jumped. After hooking up the jumper cables and a charger they said now the car would no longer run and there are a few lights just came on the dash. After brief argument of what happened, he pushed the car outside and demanded I come pick it up. That was the last time I was able to get in contact with Canal Street Auto Sales. I wasn't able to get any more info on what he did to the car as he had cut all communication off. Keep in mind he never even did the work that the car was originally there for, and now the car needed to be towed to HA Boyd VW in Lebanon. After a very involved diagnoses HA Boyd determined the ECU and other electronics had been shocked. They explained one of the only things to cause this sequence of problems would be a bad charge or a reverse jump. The repair bill has reached $1200. Canal Street Auto pushed my car out of their way and pretty much said tough luck, get it out of here. I tried contacting Canal Street Auto Sales numerous times after this and they did not return or answer any phone calls since this happened. I went to their place of business which displays open til 7pm, but no one was ever there during business hours. They made no attempts to make this right or handle this with any moral standard or professionalism. After denying any wrong doing and a very weak investigation by the interlock providing company it was determined I am responsible to cover the whole repair bill. Due to Canal Street Autos mis-hap I am out over $1200 for repairs and the device was never installed anyways. Worst part is, he is still allowed to install devices and work on cars. I am working on another claim to get him removed from installing anymore of these devices, as well as bringing his horrible business practices to the attention of the attorney general's office.
