Thanks to the staff & Vet for working us into the schedule with our very sick dog. We appreciated their kind & professional help! Even tho the diagnosis was not good, they did a good job of explaining our options.

5th Avenue has been my go-to vet for the last few years now and I have nothing but good to say about them. They are very open and honest about their work and their opinions on your pet, without pushing expensive treatments or surgeries for their own income or benefit as I've seen so often in the past.I would definitely recommend them to any friends or family!

When you affiliate with a Veterinarian, you expect that they will be there for your pet for more than an annual wellness exam and shots. On August 16, I called the 5th Avenue Animal Hospital, where I have been taking my dog since I purchased him 3 years ago, to tell them that that he was very sick. I informed them that he was throwing up and also had a very bad case of diarrhea. They told me that the soonest they could see Max was August 18th at 3:45. I told them that I didn't want to wait that long but they insisted that it was the soonest they could see him. They then told me that I could bring over a stool sample and they would check it. I did this within 15 minutes. They called me back to say that they detected no parasites and that I should give him very little water and no food to allow his stomach to settle down. Later in the day I noted that he was doing worse and again tried to call. I got a recording, which didn't allow me to leave a message. I then called an emergency Veterinarian in Lancaster but while I was on the phone, Max died. He was not yet 3 years old. Unfortunately, the Veterinarian I used for my previous dogs has retired. When something serious came up when I was dealing with him, he had me come in immediately. In my opinion the main interest of the 5th Avenue Animal Hospital, is their pay check and not the well being of the animal. If I ever get another dog I would never take it there. I had to provide a rating in order to post this review. I would not even give them one star.

After years of taking our mini pig to this vet for care, they told us today that they just don’t see pig patients any more, and gave us no referral to a vet who could take over her care. They didn’t even call us to tell us they’d no longer provide care for our pet. We had to find out by trying to schedule an appointment for a necessary shot. Extremely disappointed.

Great Vet! My boxer needed a c-section in the middle of the night and they were very helpful! Surgery went great and my boxer was given professional care! The nurses put lots of effort forth to wake up and get the puppies stimulated! The vet and 2 nurses having to get out of bed in the middle of the night to help my dog and all of them were in a great mood!! Treat your hardworking veterinarians with the respect they deserve!! My 5 stars to the whole crew at 5th Ave!!?

They failed to tell us that the vet was going to do the ear cleaning and nail trimming when we made the appointment, instead of a vet tech. Had her for less than 5 mins and We had to pay $110 when last time it was only $60.

My dog is more dignified than the people who work here. Outdated mentality at this office. The reception area is very cramped with no way to get in or out without squeezing by other people and their pets. It also smelled strongly of urine (which is always a red flag to the degree of care extended by the staff). I walked my large mellow mastif mix in the door, and there was a lady at the check out counter staring at her bill, not paying attention to the hyper reaction of her terrier toward a big dog entering the room. She was also oblivious to the fact that her terrier's flexi-lead was fully extended and he was blocking us from entering. The lady at reception saw this but pretended to suddenly be busy. I said "excuse us please." The terrier lady gave her dog a quick tug but let him go again. Mr terrier then lunged at my dog and bit him on the nose giving him two puncture wounds, and making him bleed enough that it was dripping on the floor. I was more polite about it than I should have been (so was my dog) and the girl at the reception desk laughed it off trying to downplay the situation, which was totally dismissive and ignorant. Nevermind that my dog was just standing there, what about his doggie feelings here?!! The vet was nice, but wanted to put my dog on medication for allergies that cost $200 a month which I declined. I asked the vet to please also check his nose now since he just got bit in the waiting room, and the vet said, "oh, noooo!" in a cartoon voice making a joke of it, and said, "he's a big boy, I'm sure he'll live!" ...Well, yes, he will. But I will spend our money elsewhere on someone who will give my dog the respect and validation for being a good boy and a GOOD SPORT that he deserves.

We've been going to this vet office since we moved to Lebanon in 2011. We were always happy with the place, but lately it has changed. The last couple times I called, they were really rude to me. The first time was when my oldest cat needed to see a vet ASAP. I was told they couldn't fit him in, so we had to take him to an emergency vet in Lancaster (which was actually cheaper). The woman also accused me of not giving him his Laxatone because I hadn't bought it from them recently--we started with enough to last a year, so I still had some. Plus it's available elsewhere without a prescription. The second time was when I called to ask for help with abandoned kittens my neighbor found. A friend told me the vet office where he used to work kept a list of local rescues, so I called 5th Avenue to ask. I was rudely told to call the Humane Society, which was closed that day.I've also had to wait around 15 minutes to checkout because everyone was in the back chatting. I could hear them--it was not work related. I like a couple of the vets here, especially the man (unfortunately I don't know his name) who calls my oldest cat "sir," but a lot of the staff are just terrible. The cost of an office visit has increased drastically over the past few years. It's now $70 for an office visit, plus the cost of any tests or medication. I'd be okay with paying more if I felt they actually cared about my pets. I took in a stray who had ear mites and spent a lot of money on solutions that didn't work. Not once did they clean her ears and treat her there. They just sent us home with medication that did nothing. They also will not help you in an emergency during business hours, even if you've been with them a long time. They once seemed to be in it for the animals. Not anymore. We will be finding a new vet before my pets need their vaccinations again.

I have always had good experiences here. I hope it continues. I do agree they charge more than some. However, they are helpful and caring!

I would just like to say mostly all of the negative reviews that I have read were expecting this veterinary clinic to be an emergency clinic, which we are not. We will see patients by appointment only. People who are not regular clients looking to be seen on emergency will get turned away and referred to an emergency hospital in the area. We are very sorry for that, however there are plenty of emergency hospitals available in the area that are open 24-7. It would be the same as if a family member is having a true medical emergency you would not go to your general practitioner family doctor, you would take them to the emergency room. The other thing is complaining about costs. We are one of the cheapest vets in the whole surrounding area and we are very reasonable with our rates. Most people actually tell us that they come to us because we are the cheapest, so if you can find cheaper veterinary services, that is wonderful, but we are not price gouging. If you are not able to pay upfront for your pets medical care then you will not be seen at this clinic. If we took care of every animal that needed our help for free we would not be able to afford to keep our doors open. And sadly, if we trusted that everyone would "pay us back" we also would not be able to afford to keep the doors open. I am sorry for all the disgruntled people that do not have a regular vet and only wanted to use us for emergency, and I'm sorry for the people that have no money to afford their pets veterinary care. Once again, there are emergency clinics who take care credit where you can take your pet if you don't have the money upfront. It does not make us bad people/veterinarians for only accepting payment at time of service. We let people know the costs upfront and if you can't afford it, we happily give you options of where to go that will help you with your finances. Lastly, we have never, and will never give advice over the phone to an animal we have never seen and know nothing about. That is a huge liability for us, and we could mistakenly give you the wrong advice if we aren't aware of all of the circumstances. We care very much about our regular clients and the people who are willing to pay for their beloved vet pets care. So the simple solution is, to get established before your pet has an emergency, and don't expect services for free.

Enter at your own risk...Took my dog in for allergies. Other than the allergies he was fine. He was prescribed two medications at the price of $$$$ very expensive. Plus the visit and examination. Another $$$$ very expensive. He started to vomit and had diarrhea after giving the medication and was told that it might have been the stress of the car ride home. My dog rides in my car all the time. Never had a problem. Had to go back and change one of his meds. Another $$$$ very expensiveIn total I paid $$$$$$$$ very expensive. My dog is still sick, two days now with vomiting and diarrhea. Plus the allergies.

Visited with my sick dog 2/25. The young male vet we saw was very rude. I asked for an X-ray on my dogs growing belly an his inability to eat. He refused and said he wouldn't proceed until I did blood work first. Then when that came back more notmal then he expected he said he would only do xrays if I agreed to abdominal and cardiac. Even though I just wanted abdominal. He also said he wouldn't treat him just off an X-ray he would need an ultrasound. Took him for another opinion and the new vet at a better hospital jumped right to ultrasound found out he had cancer and it was metastatic. My beloved dog suffered for longer then he needed if 5th Ave would have did the right thing and not hustled money out of me.
