Loved it, felt like I was going back in time! The guides were very knowledgeable and made it a fun experience. I now want to volunteer there and be a part in sharing that great history!! The gift shop was amazing and the prices were very reasonable.

Attended the church service and then toured the grounds. The people who worked there were so professional and nice. They made history come alive!

I met a friend there I hadn't seen in a while for the bonfire event. We had a blast, I'm sure part of it was the company, but it still exceeded my expectations. They had some homemade "grog" to sample and a hearty "snack" with authentic Pankin, a kind of not super sweet spice cake. There was a blacksmithing demonstration too. I especially enjoyed the story of Guy Fawkes (with the British accent) and the sparklers at the bonfire.

Super cool! We went on the annual Free museums week and did the 4 building walk through.Main house, blacksmith, cooking cabin and barnKnowledgeable staff and gracious Blacksmith father and son team were delightful and took time for my many questions. Got allot of film footage for music visual projects.

Was fortunate to get a spot in the blacksmithing class! It was REALLY FUN & educational. DEFINITELY HANDS ON! I was surprised how much we were able to do & came home with my very own fireplace poker THAT HAS A TWISTED HANDLE!!! (Plus a hook to hang it from!) Additionally Ed's son (I am sorry I can't remember his name) helped us make a tiny sword out of a nail! It was NOT AS EASY AS IT LOOKED but we did it! Everyone in the class was nice & the blacksmiths were very patient - Great fun & I would take another class, no doubt!

Period dressed, Emily B., was a font of information during the tour. She seamlessly interpreted the variety of out-buildings and main structure.

An absolute gem. We had passed by many times, and finally decided to see the museum. It is not large, but extremely interesting, and I would highly recommend taking a tour. Our guide was Emily B, who is very knowledgeable and clearly enjoys explaining how the inn functioned and the uses of the various implements that are on exhibit. Her knowledge spans from the origins of arcane English phrases to the fact a horse can stand on three legs, whereas an ox cannot (essential knowledge for a blacksmith). I cherish that there are people like Emily B whose passion is keep our American heritage alive.

I love history and this place offers a lot to learn and see. Although not all the furniture is 100% original to the house, I loved walking through to what seemed as a time machine to the 1800s. The cook house was neat as well and I got to enjoy hot cider. Unfortunately I couldn’t have the other dish as I have food allergies. Aside from that and the architecture itself, the staff was great! They were very kind, offered a lot of knowledge, and were open to questions the entire time.

We enjoyed the tour. Emily, tour guide, did an excellent job explaining the history of the Inn and how it fit in to the region.

This is a very interesting museum depicting the inns that popped up along the early stage routes running west.We felt it gave a very complete picture of the accommodations and services you could expect at a full service inn. They offer both guided tours and WiFi driven self guided tours along with special events featuring re-enactors performing the tasks associated with the operation of a stage stop inn.

This museum was an incredible step back in time. Emily was our guide and she knew her stuff. We learned many things during the tour. I was amazed to learn of the many origins of the sayings that we have heard over the years. We really enjoyed the fact that the things to see were not overwhelming so that we were able to learn a little with each location on the tour. I was very impressed that Emily made her own period specific dress as part of the realness and authentic setting of the Compass Inn Museum. If you have not visited this museum, go and check it out as you will learn what it was like for people that lived in a period where our current creature comforts were not even considered (or known about).
