This review is for the vaccine clinic only as I cannot speak on their other services. It was a frustrating experience to get my kitten's vaccines done in the Lancaster location as the staff did not seem reliable. I have scheduled 3 different appointments all to which were seemingly "canceled" when I arrived to the office. I never received any phone call nor contact from the office and only found out that they were canceled after arriving with my kitten. After my cat received her vaccination from the Lancaster office she needed to come back for a time sensitive "booster shot" in 2-3 weeks. Once again, I show up to the office for her scheduled appointment and there's a sign on the door stating "the vaccine clinic is closed." This made me very frustrated with this place as I do not like putting stress on my cat and being in the carrier makes her sick. I have tried to call multiple times to try and find a time to reschedule but no one answers the phone.I have a life, I take time out of my day leaving work early to be at the appointment on time just to show up and have the appointment rescheduled due to the vet being "out of the office". I am not giving this place another chance to provide care for my pet.

The staff didn’t even make eye contact with me when answering questions. It’s a shame when people who really want to adopt are treated in very dismissive ways. I saw I wasn’t the only person who had a poor experience with staff here.

i got both of my cats spayed, microchipped and they got their shots for less than my vet’s office charges for just one cat to be spayed. they are very kind and kept me updated when possible because they knew how bad my anxiety was. i definitely recommend them.

We found a lovely dog there a few weeks ago, brought him home, made an appt. at our vet, find out he has giardia....worms. Mostly found in kennels where fecal matter gets into the water. Currently on meds to hopefully, in 1 round of meds, eliminate them. We spent over $300 to adopt him, filled out all your paperwork, abided by all that is requested from us, yet a simple test was not done. I would have paid $350 to adopt him if the test was done and you started him on meds so he wouldn't have suffered...and how long did he suffer? We suggest that this be done on ALL CATS AND DOGS currently in the facility and treat them if they have giardia. If you are going to adopt a pet, ask if they have been tested and if you already adopted a pet, take them to a vet for that test. Read what giardia does to humans and animals, it is not pleasant. I guess I expected better from the SPCA and we are saddened that our dog was left to suffer with worms. The SPCA in their reply states it is a common occurence...then why not test for it? Also, we DID call, message never returned.

Pennsylvania SPCA Lancaster CenterI'm heartbroken...We FINALLY got to adopt a doggie and complete our family..for a good 2 hours..we had to bring the doggie back to the shelter because she tried to attack Raeya and the cat.The doggie was good with the kids at the shelter. We paid $300 and they won't refund us..We weren't told no refunds..and I read all the paperwork.I can understand if you change your mind no refunds, but this was a serious matter.I'm not happy at all with this service

These people do not know what they are doing. They are a pathetic group of people who hurt animals not help them in this community, turn away potential adopters, allow animal abuse to continue, and have 0 ability to make an actual difference. Another rescue group should be started that understands what they are doing and helps & not hurts animals in their care.

Was able to find my neighbor's dog fast. Thank you for helping us. At first was disappointed because I was trying to ask someone at the gate for help and she told me to hold on and then ran towards the door like I wasn't standing there. But once I was able to get someone's attention we were able to retrieve the dog. So thank you for your help. Tell your employees or volunteers not to be rude especially if someone is looking for their pet.

We saved a momma cat and her 5 kittens. Having the momma cat fixed seemed to be within an acceptable time frame but we've been waiting months for an appointment for just one of the kittens. Not sure what the extreme delay is being that this is pretty much what they do here. I don't want to just drop off the kittens and have them be their problem so I feel we're doing the right thing by having them fixed. Now we have to keep the female separated from the 4 male kittens for at least another month or else we will have more kittens to deal with. It doesn't make alot of sense to me. Maybe they are actually that busy? Its frustrating

I emailed the facility prior to visiting an available dog to see if she might fit our family, which includes young children. I was encouraged by the response and visited the facility with my family the same afternoon. I tried to make an appointment as well, but was told the dogs are FCFS. We still drove almost an hour to get there with our young children. Then we waited 40 minutes in the lobby. Finally, a lady/ handler brought out the dog we had requested to meet to the lobby. We were told to sit in our seats and not move unless approached by the dog. We knew the dog was shy to begin with, and she was not interested in approaching. She just wanted to be petted by the handler. I took that as a good sign-she could form strong bonds with others. When I handed our young son to my husband, he started crying and the handler immediately declared the meeting over because she felt it was “too much” for the dog. While I respect the handlers position, we were given less than 10 minutes in a highly awkward and less than ideal environment to bond with a shy animal. I definitely felt short changed and will not be visiting again. We are a good family with a lot to offer a dog in need, but we did not feel that we were even considered after making considerable effort to have a “meet.”

The staff here is wonderful. We adopted Pebblez last week after losing our Boxer of 9yrs. We found each other by luck and couldn't be happier. Thank you to the Lancaster SPCA, our hearts are full?

Someone had scheduled me for a neutering appointment on a Wednesday I had specifically asked for a Wednesday because I am in college and work full time so that was my only free day. I drove and hour away to take my dog to his appointment and when I got there a woman scoffed at me and told me they did not do neuterings on Wednesday that they only did them Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. I explained my situation to her and she took down my name, but I never got a call back. A few days later I called to see if I could get another appointment and I was told they only do neuterings on Mondays and were booked and to call back in a few months. I called the next day to see if there was anything else I could do. A woman answered the phone who was extremely helpful and got me squeezed in for an appointment (I wish I had gotten her name). The appointment rolled around and I drove an hour again just to be told their machine was down and there was nothing they could do even though I received multiple conformation emails and texts about my appointment the night before. The man who was there told me there was nothing he could do and that you get what you pay for. I missed my college class today to take my dog on a Tuesday. They didn't take down my name or anything I was told it would just be easier to go to a real vet. I’ve wasted my gas money twice now and still have a dog with balls.

Cruel, ignorant, uncompassionate, rude creatures of this world they do not need to be in business. They all need to shut down these dogs have a better life and a better chance without them.

I saw on the news how they are “at capacity” with dogs and them barking miserably. However, when going to adopt, you have to look in a book to “pick out,” the animal you want to meet??? Do they not know about the connection needed between a person and animal to adopt? That’s how it works. It should not be based on pictures. This is very backwards thinking and wonder why they are having problems getting dogs out. A lot more people would visits and adopt if they lifted their stupid rules that is doing nothing but hurting people good enough to come in and make them do this and dogs who can’t even interact with potential adopters. Maybe they should let people form a connection with an animal instead of picking from a picture.
