I had my wedding the weekend of September 14th, 160 people attended. Katelyn from LV went above and beyond making sure our day was absolutely perfect! She was responsive, kind, helpful, and an overall pleasure to work with. We got married at the yellow barn and it was beautiful! The trees, the space, the barn with the light! UGH! A dream come true. If you’re thinking of having your wedding here…DO IT!

The nicest & most interesting people operate this museum. Every person stationed in each building is an expert in their craft.

Screw this place! It's not accurately represented on the website. First of all, it's effing HUGE! Go when it's cold and wear athletic shoes/ clothes!
Also, I thought it was a working farm... it's not. The Whole thing is just a farming museum.
Maybe that's clear to you, but after looking at the website several times, it was not clear to me. I made it thru about 5 buildings before my feet were blistered and I was dying of thirst. I'm also heat sensitive these days and few of the buildings are air conditioned. And then some of the buildings are CLOSED. So I would stumble across the damn property only to find a building LOCKED!
Bye Felicia!

The title is a little misleading: it is a collection of authentic houses that have been moved. We can't talk about a village, it's really a museum of houses. Some are visited (the school for example) others are even with a person explaining life at the time.
There is much to learn about the Mennonites, a community close to the Amish in culture. Some animals to meet too.
The good plan: come across a day of reenactment like that of the War of Independence.
Note: quite a bit of shade, a few buildings with air conditioning and the fire station allows you to eat if you brought it with you. I'm not sure I saw anything to buy food or drink there?

I had a pleasant morning here one day in early summer. Some kids were on a field trip and lots of others drawn there. Learned a lot about the German settlers, their lifestyle and other things about the culture. Lovely art, pottery, and furniture. There's a blacksmith, tinsmith, other live reenactors and the gift shop has unique and authentic finds!

This place is so much fun to visit. It is like stepping back in time to a small village with gravel streets and buildings along the roads. Homestead, gardens, general store, hotel, tavern, firehouse, blacksmith, gunsmith, tin smith, leather shop, spinning and weaving and artifact or antiques displays. They have living history demonstrators showing the old world crafts and techniques. Hearth cooking and historical explanations. So much fun. And dont miss the store where there ate lots of handcrafted pie es for purchase.

I can't say how perfect Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum was for our wedding. Working with Katelyn Hess during the 2+ years my husband and I were engaged was such a pleasure. Katelyn was incredibly responsive, attentive, kind, and collaborative. It took a huge weight off our shoulders to know she was on our side throughout this process. The venue itself is simply beautiful. I felt we had so much space between the yellow barn, the stone shed, and the courtyard. I'm so happy with how everything turned out. It was a dream wedding at a dream venue!

I rented a spot for my grandmother’s surprise birthday party on Sunday, October 22, 2023. It was the firehouse! I didn’t get tickets for the museum to do a tour, but I celebrated my grandmother’s 78th birthday. The guests that showed and grandma absolutely loved. We had such a great time and everything was amazing! Highly suggest if you are doing a birthday party, wedding anniversary party or baby shower to rent for a few hours it’s worth every penny. Katelynn Hess did a fantastic job with getting it organized! I want to thank her for all the help and coordination for this. It means a lot from the bottom of my heart that there was nothing but happy tears, joy and happiness spread through. I will definitely do something like this again in the future! Thank you so much Landis Valley Museum and Katelynn! From my family and friends, we thank you so much!

I had my baby shower here and it was perfect! I met with Katelyn a few times to see the space myself and with my family. She is really responsive on questions and concerns. Katelyn went over everything we needed for the space and sent layouts so we could get a better idea for it all. I would recommend this space for any gathering you may have!

Let me start this review by stating we've only been here once and it was not an event weekend. We were also only here post-pandemic.The place initially felt empty and a little run down. This could be the aesthetic of old farm on the property, yet it feels some of it has to do with a lack of funding or a lack staff or volunteers. Either way, moving past the farm area, there was a lot more to see than I realized which was a pleasant surprise. There are two buildings that store antiques on the property. From farming equipment to housewares, old sins, to furniture. The collections they have from the area are quite interesting, varied, and unique. Now in town there are a few historic houses and other buildings on site. Those that had interpreters were excellent. We had fantastic conversations with each of them and the breathe of their knowledge and love of the period shined. That said, I was a little thrown off by the number of buildings listed as "open" or "self-guided". In reality, you could open the front door or look in the window, but nothing past that. Again, funding, lack of staff, not sure, but I am not going to hold it against them. Just seemed a bit odd.So do I recommend? Of course. Every single place in this state who's mission is to preserve the Pennsylvania German way of life is a treasure. Landis Valley Village is now top on my list of places that are doing that. Not only for tourists, but those who live here and want to learn and experience life from a bygone era that shaped this state for centuries. On hundred percent worth price of admission.

I really enjoyed my visit to Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum. Walking through the village makes you feel like you've taken a step back in time. The gardens and the different flowers planted throughout were beautiful. The area is well kept and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Would love to visit again, especially for their fall events.
