I haven't been inside for over 50 years. School trip. I walk my dog next to it quite a bit. I do enjoy stopping and looking at it.

Beautifully kept site. The mansion tour was excellent. The displays are well done, but it was our guide,Cole, who made us especially glad we went. He gave a detailed, interesting talk and answered all our questions. It was not a robotic presentation. He obviously had a personal appreciation of history. I don't know how they found him, but he is a gem.

What a magnificent treasure nestled within Lancaster County Central Park! We learnt so much about the Historic Rick Ford's most illustrious resident Edward Hand and the role he played in the Revolutionary War! The main attraction is the Hand family's home, a beautifully restored 18th century mansion furnished with historically accurate furniture and art, not to mention a few notable items that were actually at one time Hand family possessions! Our fantastic tour guide Professor Jennifer Redmann did an excellent job teaching us all about life in Lancaster during the Revolutionary War and the early American Republic. She used the Hand family's stories and domestic artifacts to help the history "come alive".The grounds surrounding the house and the restored barn that houses the gallery of early Lancaster county decorative arts are lush, quiet and picturesque. Take a picture of the deer that graze there!

My wife and I had a great time at the ROCK FORD Plantation and Barn Gallery tour. Lots of history there including the fact that George & Martha Washington were entertained on numerous occasions. The tour includes almost the entire house from the basement kitchen area to the second floor with many historical artifacts, furniture and writings. Many areas of the home and decor were painstakingly restored to original. Bryce, our docent was very informative, fun and very sociable encouraging questions of the family and the mansion. Since my wife and I were lucky enough to be the only guests for the time slot we enjoyed a private, longer than usual tour. Highly recommend a visit!

Wonderful guide who related the details of the house and its furnishings to General Hand's life and the historical context. Nice exhibition of long rifles and furniture at the Museum as well.

Great experience for our whole family. Excellent tour guide and historic home. Very cool that the home has remained almost completely original. Museum was interesting. The kids enjoyed it as well.

Awesome day, toured the Lancaster rifles exhibit and the house. Really like walking in footsteps of general George Washington's closest military aid, General Hand.

Visited mostly for the Revolutionary Long Rifle display in the barn. Well worth the admission! The barn also has a good display of Lancaster clocks and period furniture. Arrived late in the day so did not have time for the full tour.

The house was very well preserved and neat to see a home from the 1700s. The tour guide was fairly knowledgeable, but what she told us did not match what the plaques said in the property’s gallery next door.

If you are a fan of history, or historic places, this is a must visit. Our tour group was small and felt very personal, lead by a very knowledgeable guide. You are brought to each room on the first and second floors and given not only information about that room, but stories about the family and their role during the Revolutionary War and beyond. The tour also includes the basement kitchen, which is remarkably preserved and includes fantastic period pieces. The last part of the tour was up the hill a short walk in a restored period barn that has been relocated to the spot that the original barn stood. It includes a pretty extensive collection of Lancaster area Grandfather clocks and other pieces. The guide gave a brief explanation of what is included in this collection and then let us loose for self guided exploration.Important note, although there is a Porta Potty in the parking area, there are very nice and clean restrooms available up at the barn building. On the day we went, there was only one employee available for the two buildings, so access may depend on if a tour is going on at the home.
