We stayed at the Lodge at the Split Rock Resort.
It was a POS, outdated with no elevator, smelled moldy and dirty.
Paid $350 in cash at check-in with the Lodge Manager Roberto. A few days later, he charged my credit card for another $350. When I called the hotel and spoke to Niklos, he said they had no record of my cash payment? Looks like the Manager pocketed the cash and then charged my credit card !
I sent him a hand written receipt to prove we paid cash at check in. Niklos said, the system did not show any payment received. Very fraudulent and deceptive management. Reported this to BBB and attorney general’s office. Buyer beware!
The water park is closed, I overheard guests complaining about having no heat and water in their rooms over the weekend. How is this place still open to the public? There is sewer pipe leaking over the indoor pool. How gross.
Safety: No security.

There was a lot of confusion about calling in to get a room a d price and which resort building that we were going to stay in in summary communications was not good within the organization and it reflected on to the customers.
Walkability: Was to far between buildings for older people to walk would be helpful if they had golf carts for that need.

I wanted a get away trip for the weekend with my boyfriend and I, in the Poconos. We got there and were walking to our room, very unpleasant smells and sightings. Got to our room which you could tell was very outdated.. hot tub in our room once you turn water on hair was coming out of the holes in it… we found more than 5 lady bugs the first night and killed the ones we saw. The next day we found 20+ in the room and were not happy. We switched rooms and went to the second floor in the town center right next to the lobby where you could hear a wedding group being loud & the TVS not working. Told front desk, waited an hour and went back down and guy came in and unplugged tv and plugged it back in which still didn’t work. No way we could go to sleep so we left and went elsewhere. Will never come back to this place again.

Went for a wrestling tournament, the tournament schedule changed and we were told to simply call the hotel to cancel the night not needed. There was a breakdown of communication and the hotel would not make any accommodations. Reservations are outsourced and you cannot talk to the front desk at all about reservations. Once we arrived, there was no heat in the room. They were able to switch our room our for one with heat luckily. Rooms are dated and not at all like represented online.

Had to be the absolute worst experience I have ever had for a trip. The manager unlocked my door and walked into my room like a freak of nature while I was asleep. When I woke up and said something he scurried off. This was in the lodge. The hotel hallways wreaked of dirty bathroom, more than likely because of the multiple people who got food poisoning from the Mexican restaurant. The bartenders and servers were very nice probably it’s only positive point. Rooms were ok. One person working the front desk. Only 3 people on sight I was told. Place is a joke go anywhere else. Also ghost town vibes.

I wish I could give zero stars. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. First, the food made us seriously ill. We had to spend most of our stay recovering, which completely ruined our trip. On top of that, it felt like we were in a ghost town – we were the only guests in our entire building, making it feel eerie and unsafe.
The worst part by far was that the manager let himself into our room while we were sleeping! This was an appalling invasion of privacy and made us feel extremely uncomfortable. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Stay far away.
