They have limited inventory so it's kind of hit or miss. Still, when you're in a pinch it's nice to have a hardware store in downtown Kutztown. Thankful they're there.Also: I've seen some commenters mention employee rudeness. That's hit or miss too. Some of the employees are quite kind while others barely say a word or just stare at you. It's kind of weird but I wouldn't take it too personally. Happy to have a hardware store on Main Street.

Great hometown hardware store, has everything I need every time I go there. Prices are reasonable, especially since I can get the exact quantity of nuts, bolts, screws, etc.

We love going to old hardware stores. You never know what you will find. De Turks has been in business since 1854.

There is an elder gentleman working here that is kind, informative, an awesome guy. As for other employees: strangely rude.Followed around the store and constantly asked what I want. Felt rushed, and had to endure snarky remarks from the person “helping” me the entire time. I needed to fabricate a part & wanted to browse. I was treated like a thief or inconvenience.If work makes you miserable, go home. You were rude to 2 other people in my presence alone. I care about shopping small & keeping businesses on main afloat, but I could do without the snarky remarks from the staff.Being a nice person genuinely is not that hard. There are other local hardware stores that are at least nice. Spent my $500 somewhere else.

We visited on a Saturday and there was a kind gentleman, really helpful. Told us to come back if the pieces we bought didn't work out, which they didn't. Came back on that Sunday... the kind gentleman was there but there was also another guy there.. who was easily annoyed for some reason. It made it uncomfortable and he didn't want to listen to us even though we were right. He backed down at the end but we won't go back if he's there. It sucks because we live in Kutztown and would like to support our town.

The crew at DeTurk's has always been respectful and fun to talk to. Very helpful with paint and they have so much packed into that local store! Always seem to find more than I need! Great small town atmosphere - always willing to help with any questions if you can't find what you are looking for. Support small business and try DeTurk's!

It's a fairly nice place things are somewhat organized and they have a decent amount of product however the two gentleman (if you want to call them that) are rather rude and and don't want to be bothered. The other problem I have with this place is alot of the electric items do not work and some of the batteries are corroded.

I called Deturk's about 45 minutes ago to see if they had a certain battery for a car remote as I had a client who was stranded at my office in great need of this battery. The gentleman there told me to send her down....by the time I returned to my office (15 minutes) she had been to Deturk's and had already left. I just want to say thank you to whoever it was that helped her and 3 cheers to this establishment for a well rounded inventory AND great service!
