I just approached my 4 year Anniversary of working at Friends Home in Kennett. I work in the Community Life Department (Activities). My responsibilities here are leading the Music Programs, Bible Studies, Technical help for residents, and often help with trips and other Activities with other Community Life staff. I am really enjoying my time working here.I would give Friends Home a 5 star rating because of the care for the residents who live here, appreciation of my work skills, kindess shown by staff and residents, and the willingness to be unique place to live. Friends Home is a wonderful place to live and work. I enjoy collaborating with my colleagues to make the best activitiy programs possible for our residents. In my 4 years, we have started a Resident Choir, a Bible Study, a Tech Class, a Meet the Musician class, a Music Appreciation class, concerts to attend both in the home and outside the home, upgraded our music equipment like a new soundsystem, hand chimes, keyboard, and pianos, and also upgraded our technology by adding 4 brand new Smart TVs for the residents in the facility. Our residents are really wonderful individuals and we care for each and everyone of them. I am thankful to have the opportunity to bring my musical, spiritual, and technical expertise to help each resident with their needs. I am grateful to be on the Friends Home team. This a great place to work.

We had a Horrible experience at the personal care facility. My mom went in happy and excited about her new home. Six months later she could barely walk, talk, and was very depressed about the head nurse consistently picking on her. Telling her she would be kicked out of the facility. Going through her room looking for OTC Tylenol. My mom was over medicated there and she felt sick but they kept telling her she has to leave because they couldn’t care for her. My mom was diagnosed with a bile duct blockage. It was benign. She was sent to Brandywine Hall after surgery because Friends Home would not let her go back to her room. I took her out of Brandywine Hall because they put her in the Covid section. She was the only negative patient in the entire area. The PT staff said she passed all the PT requirements. She got out of bed, walked, showered, dressed herself with no problem and didn’t need to be there. home therapy or outpatient was better for her. My mom wanted to go back to Friends Home but I told her that they didn’t want her back and even if they did, that head nurse will continue to torture her. She is doing much better now in her own apartment in West Chester PA.

I reviewed a 1 star previously and owner responded assuming why I reviewed such a low score. I did NOT base my review according to the admission denial of my family member. I based my review on the lack of communication from your staff once she was denied. Once you denied admission for my family member I emailed Diane 4 times to get clarification on the decision. As stated in my first email to her, it was alot of information the first conversation and her PCP and other facility needed more information that I was requesting from Diane. I emailed her 4 times over a 5 week time period. She was out of the office for one of those weeks but still I never heard back from her. So while I did not want or need to go into why I rated your facility so low, your assumption is way off. I do not require or care for a response but now I know how to get one from you if I need one. Thank you.
