Security and the networking instructors will care for you and try to help you. The Counselors? Wellness Centre? Educational higherups? They don't care, and they won't care. I was facing harassment from another student and I was the one getting yelled at and in trouble. The instructors and dorm councilors have no power. All they can do is ask adult children to play nice with no power to back it up. Only the counselors can do anything about it, and they're content with sitting still and watching us all suffer. "Go see your counselor" is all that will be said to those who make it harder for us to actually learn. It isn't their fault, it's the way this school is set up.And a word of advice for parents are adults who are looking to join this school. Don't. Especially if you have mental issues like depression and anxiety. Because this school. Doesn't. Care. There are many, including myself, who came in wide-eyed and happy to learn, and left to a mental hospital over their treatment. I wasn't the first, and I won't be the last.Go to this place if you have no-where else to go. If you want a social life? Forget about it. If you want to come here, focus only on the degree. Stay away from the others, stay away from the Wellness Centre, and hope to god you don't have issues with another student or staff, because good luck. They don't care. But if you CAN go somewhere else, ANYWHERE else, even if it isn't for free, go there.

Hi, I am a student in the Hiram G Andrews School and today I want to write this review and tell my story to anyone that sees this, first I will start from the beginning, I remember like it was yesterday my first day of Hiram which was January 7th of this year, my evaluation was September of 2022 and I remember having the time of my life, first day of being away from family and getting to be on my own was ecstatic, my pops dropped me and my friend off and after he said “love you son I’ll see you later” things went well for me, everyone came up to me and welcomed me like family and the girls we used to have wasn’t so bad looking and they was in love with me, now the only problem that I seen during eval was the maintenance because I remember me and my pops having to wipe down the room which isn’t right, also another problem that I seen which is still a problem was that there’s not many activities for us students especially the mentally challenged ones and the special ones, there was days where I had fun in the gym playing basketball with my friends and people I respect to this day, evaluation was good and the two weeks I was there I had so much fun while getting work done of course, I took a few months away after I left because evaluation is only two weeks and they had room for me to come back in January…to be continued

Don't come. It starts off fine but then the experience ages like milk. They won't respect your privacy but will tell you to respect the privacy of the school. They think they're entitled to know everything about your personal business. When you just want to focus on your work, someone (staff or student) will create an imaginary problem and then blame you and make drama about it, and they'll try to involve your family into it. It's a den full of busybodies, empty meatsuits, anklebiters, and reactive animals, especially the counselor and the "doctors".

I haven't heard from them about over a month in a half about when I'm supposed to be heading there for my two weeks and the person I have helping me won't contact me and I contacted them on Tuesday June 6th and nothing back and I'm getting very impatient

I'm a current student here of 2023.For the short review: The food is decent and NOT expired (I come from the Culinary branch and can confirm that all food made here is always made fresh), the education's decent and the community here's welcoming. For the longer detailed review:I will say this upfront, this college was basically made for people with disabilities. The percentage of people who have serious disabilities will be significantly higher. There are some who you'll find are more on the annoying side, the others who are more normal. But overall, the people here are very tame.A message for students who plan on coming here: Hey, as long as you can handle some social interactions, people running their mouths and stay out of trouble, you'll do just fine. And I will say, literally no one here cares about your business unless you make it our business, or they're very nosy, in which case you can tell them to zip it and get lost.Consider getting an alarm clock (Use your phone if needed), always lock your doors, make a few close friends/people you can trust, pay attention to your surroundings and what goes on around you, and do your schoolwork. Everything else you'll learn naturally on your own, like making a schedule for yourself, doing your own laundry, getting along with roommates, etc.For the parents: Trust your child and the staff here. This is likely their first time stepping out into the world on their own and very well will be the day you stop holding their hand through life. Know that the security's very tight here; all dorms have locks, security guards and cameras everywhere to keep students safe and double rooms have drawers you can lock with padlocks. So don't worry, the place is very safe. As for accessibility, public transportation's easily accessible (Busses run by here everyday), we have classes to educated students on proper ways to handle emotions and converse with their colleagues, we support all kinds of disabilities and there are trained counselors, doctors and psychiatrists on site that can assist you.Case in point, HGAC's ready for whatever you throw at us. Sign up with OVR, get a sponsor from them if you're a part of low income and you can get your child in with no cost.

My name is Adam and I come back here on Jan 8th in a few days to go to hiram I will be in the Cor program first then in Networking, Hiram is pretty nice with the Rec hall downstairs, and the gym. The food here is amazing and I like it i did my eval try outs here back in October first week of November and I liked it here. It’s nice we are aloud to bring pets here because I take care of mine :), but only thing is don’t lose your room key because you have to pay 25 dollars for a new one because it dropped by accident. There is Drama but I stay away from it.

We were very impressed. If your child was in special education in school, this place will train them for a particular job while helping with whatever else they need to succeed

Some parts of the school were good, others weren't. I went in for an Evaluation for 2 weeks and I took Culinary which I wasn't comfortable with and I took Networking which was better. Some good things about this place is you don't have to always be in the Cafe during food times, you can always order your own stuff or buy own stuff, especially because some of the food is gross. Then there's Drama, which there is a lot of but if you can handle it then you're good. Teachers are nice though as long as you're nice to them. Dorm rooms are small though, unless you have an emotional support animal then you'll have a two-bed room. The showers aren't as bad as people say but yea sometimes they don't work when you expect them to. Finally, If you go here, don't be afraid to be yourself.

Such a great hidden gem. So many resources and services available for students looking for the next steps toward a career.

DO NOT COME HERE. Worst place to get an education EVER. Let me start off with the cafeteria food: it’s expired, unhealthy, zero options for vegetarians, the lettuce was brown and many many more issues. The staff are rude and know nothing about people with disabilities and treat them like they are not even human. The rooms are moldy, damp, dirty and a lot of the amenities do not work. The students who live here are trapped inside all day with almost no freedom to do any outdoor activities. Stay away from this place, the corrupt staff will try to entice you that everything is perfect here, but it is far from it.

Some friendly advice: if your gonna come here, be carefull. For most of us there this was our choice of a collage. For many this is thier first time away from thier parents just like any collage. I was there for one year and word spreads quickly about whos dating who, why so and so broke up and all that. Your better off to keep a smaller circle of trusted friends. And whatever you do: dont forget to take your meds on time if you take any. I hear that nurses will find you at the time to be sure you take it. You can take it at the med place (the nurse holds your meds if needed or you can take your own) and you will be good. But overall the school is tailored to those with learning disabilities. I learned alot there. And ill add you usually have a 2 week try out period in the trade you want. For that reason other students may call you a "tweeker". They are picking on you abit which seems to be the welcome most new students get. But its not offensive. I had no idea why people called me that at first untill a kid explained that to me.

First off this school is very big. Its a nice school and all the teachers and staff are very helpful, just don't get on their bad side. The food is somewhat ok, I mean its not the best but hey its food so. The dorm rooms are comfortable. Its easy to make friends. I have a lot of friends here so it was easy for me. All in all everything and everyone are very helpful except for all the drama. I stay away from drama. I'm in my program which is MMD (Materials Management & Distribution). I like it so far, ad its only 2 terms, I'm in term 1 right now, buy will be graduating December 16th. The rec hall staff is pretty chill and awesome. sometimes when they have sign-ups for activities, they will take you to those activities that you signed up for. They also have an art area down in the rec hall and have everything you need in the art area. The student resource center or as the students call it "the annex" is where most people like to chill at and hang out at. The library is also useful, you can sign out books if you want or use the computers to do school work and all that good stuff. I would say its a pretty good school. So I would consider bringing your child to this school. Staff are very understandable and very helpful along with security and dorm counselors. They now let you have roomates.
