I've lived in Jamison, PA for the last 38 years and had been using Star Lawnmower Service for our lawnmower care for many of those years and had been extremely satisfied. However, after the sale of Star to Paul B Moyer & Sons last year things have changed as we recently found out. At end of 2022 we brought our lawnmower to Moyer for winter service as we had done for many years with Star. We were told it would take several weeks, which we were fine with. In January of this year, 2023 we got a call from them stating that the mower needs a new carburetor and gave us a price which we agreed to. After a few days we picked up the mower. In late April we started to use the mover and it ran fine. We also began to used gasoline treatment in the gas as recommended by Moyer. During our last mowing a few weeks ago the mower started to stall so I dropped it off at Moyer's location in Jamison to have it looked at. After a few days I got a call from them stating that they had checked the mower and that it needed a new carburetor, but I challenged them saying that they just replaced the carburetor in January. The person on the phone was polite but said that it was probably the gas we used and asked if we got gas from Wawa. I said that we purchase gas from various places including Wawa, so he insisted that the issue was caused by the gas. I felt hostage at the point since they had my mower, so I told him to repair it but that I wanted to see the carburetor when I picked up the mower. I got a call from them late last Friday (10/20) that the mower was done and that I could pick it up so on Monday I drove to the Jamison store to get it. However, when I got there, they said the mower wasn't there but was at their Doylestown store. They did offer to have the mower shipped to Jamison, but I was anxious to get the mower, so I drove over to Doylestown. When I got there, I gave them my name to pick up the mower but reiterated that I also wanted the old carburetor since I was suspicious that there might not have been anything wrong with it. At which time another person came to the counter to talk to me who I assumed was a manager and he handed me a plastic bag with the old carburetor in it. I opened the bag to inspect the carburetor expecting to see a lot of gunk inside, but the carburetor looked brand new on the inside with only some dirt still on the outside. All the valves appeared to work fine so I ask how they knew it was defective and the manager told me he didn't know but sternly insisted that they were not in the business of charging customers for something that wasn't needed and asserted that I was merely making assumptions that the part was good. I was very upset by this time and asked him to just give me the bill and I would pay for it but that it wasn't likely that I would do business with them anymore. I also said that I was going to have the carburetor examined by another mechanic just to satisfy by suspicion. He then arrogantly challenged me on what I would do if I found out the carburetor was bad. I said that if I did that I would come back to the store and apologize but that if I found out it was good then I would write a negative review to warn others of either their incompetence or unethical business practices. Well, I took the carburetor to another mechanic today. After taking it apart to inspect the internal air and fuel intakes along with the choke valve and other moving parts he determined that the carburetor looked fine to him and to keep it to use if I ever needed a new one again. It is my belief now that Moyer and Sons unethically charged me for a new part that I did not need, and I suspect they do this to other customers. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY as THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!!! Their attitude towards customer service is also questionable as not once did I ever hear words like "I am sorry you feel this way" or "I understand why you might feel this way but... ". Not to mention they called to tell me the mower was ready for pickup yet neglected to tell me that it wasn'

I bought a brand new Scag stand on. They weren’t pushy or stand offish. They actually tried to get me to buy a smaller one. Answered my questions and their price was great??1 week later: mower wouldn’t turn right. Something was wrong on left side.We dropped it off, explained the issue. They fixed it within 3 hours and the owner dropped it off at my place on his way home. 6 stars????

I had some trouble with my push mower. I got a new air filter and spark plug then ask for advice also. I got some really good advice and now my lawn mower works great.

I made an order through their website and I had to send it back. they received the package and I waited almost 2 weeks and still no refund for said order. I had to open a PayPal case. after another week I had to escalate the case through Paypal because of no response from the seller. PayPal eventually decided in my favor and refunded me the money after receiving no response from the seller. never again. customer service is non existent.

I ordered a part over the phone. Their price was right in line and with no added shipping charges. They called me the next week when the part came in. The parts staff were very friendly and double-checked that I had the right part.

Lawn tractor broke deck belt. Took deck to Star Lawnmower and purchased new belt and they installed it for only the price of the belt. I did purchase the Cub Cadet tractor from them.
