My son was brought in by ambulance, possible stroke or heat attack. NEVER was brought back into an ER room until 5 hours later!! Asked multiple times and was told "it will be soon". Now we are in in a freezing cold exam room and still have not been seen. Not even by a nurse!

I would never recommend a Penn State facility ever again. Incompetent care.

My wife was discharged from Hershey Medical Center the day prior to our emergency room visit. My wife was having postpartum complications and I called the nurse hotline to discuss the issues. The nurse told me to immediately take my wife to the emergency room.We arrived at 7pm and it is now 3am (still waiting). During our time in the waiting area, we had ample time to observe. We saw elderly people (over 70 years old) sitting in the freezing cold waiting room for hours, shuffling around to stay warm. One of them came out of the back without pants. We also saw a mother and daughter. The mother was clearly a drug addict and child and youth services should be called.Staff just walked past these people without looking at them or acknowledging them. This place is a pure disgrace to the medical industry.

I know a medical staff member who works at the center and gets paid less than $20/hour. Since doctors rely entirely on their hard-working staff, they need to provide decent salaries so that they can at least live comfortably.

I went to the ER with a severe migraine, I waited for over 4 hrs which I expected. However I couldn’t deal with the noise and the lights and when I asked for some earplugs and to be placed somewhere in a darker room, she put me in the hallway with bright lights and gave me a blanket to cover my head because she did not know how to dim the lights. People were walking and talking back and forth in the hallway. Everytime they opened that door my head was about to explode.. so much noise and the blanked still had light shine through.. I was in so much pain..so disappointing. Finally the nurse that called me back which I don’t think she was a nurse maybe a LPN but she sure was one miserable human being and her personality was so ugly, even people in jail get better costumer service. The resident doctor wasn’t much help they gave me a migraine cocktail due to my history with migraines without no testing and send me home when my pain went down to 2..came home my head started pounding still having a awful migraine but I will be never going back to that place..I’d rather drive over the bridge and find a hospital. Their costumer service is one of the worst I have ever come across and their staff probably over worked because they all acted like you should be able to handle the pain. Like why do you run a hospital if your not going to care about your patients wellbeing. Pennstate was one of my places to go to but that ER definitely needs to be shut down! I don’t even understand how their running a business..the only person I was thankful for was that nurse that put my IV in..the rest should be reeducated.. and learn how to perform some diagnosing tests to figure out the problem instead of just assuming it’s a migraine and sending you back home without actually confirming what it is. I’m probably gonna have to go back to the ER tonight because my head is pounding still but definitely never again at Pennstate ER at Hershey!:

Yes I waited 16 hours but my point here I got the help that I needed. Sometimes you just have to be patient. I know the waiting is stressful but they send home feeling better and they helped me. That's all it matters. I want thank the nurses and the doctors for helping me.

Absolute worst experience. My son was poked in the eye with a metal hook on our door. Was told eye dr is aware we are on the way and wait shouldn't be that bad, well never believe that. We waited in waiting room for hours went back in hallway waited for hours. ONE time a dr came and with her light on her phone looked at his eye. Scared me to believe possible iv antibiotics may be needed. Hours later an eye dr came took us in a room said it doesn't look bad, dilates him then leaves the room for another hour. We left. No courtesy at all. Disgusting all the money they get. It's all a money game this I know now. Never will go back there's just common courtesy they lack. Unbelievable

I came in at 11:30am through the emergency entrance after being sent here from urgent care. After waiting for 2 hours, I finally got moved to a hall bed (I came in through Pediatric with my mother, as I am a minor.) Thirty minutes after that I finally got an IV and blood work done, and was told I needed to get an ultrasound. Waited yet another 30 min to be transported to the Radiology waiting room, and then waited 2 hours as the 8 staff workers in there chatted and didn’t do anything. I was the only patient in the waiting room. When the 2 hours were up and they seemed to have a shift change since all but one of the workers in there picked up their stuff and left, the last worker walked over to where we were and seemed quite surprised, then proceeded to let us know that the person giving me the ultrasound would be here soon. The ultrasound was quick, and being transported back to my room in the emergency section was as well. 15 minutes after I got back I was informed I would be needing a CT scan due to some very slight abnormalities in my bloodwork. More hours pass, and at one point while my mom was pacing around the room in stress, she saw medical papers of mine with my full name and birthday, just on the counter in the room visible to anyone who could’ve walked in, so great job on the HIPAA violation. After some number of hours, I called the nurse to tell them I wanted to go home, she went to go get the doctor. The doctor came in quite promptly, and after I explained to him I wanted to go home since there’s been almost nothing happening and no answers as to what’s going on with me, (and also that I haven’t eaten since 6am) he told me that if I left I would be unable to get the type of CT scan needed and that my mother would be putting me at risk of dying quickly and without the needed urgent medical care. Blatantly trying to guilt me and my mother into staying, to which we did, because neither of us feel like dealing with any sort of legal trouble. As of writing this review, it is currently 9:03pm, I’m still currently in the emergency room waiting to get the CT scan. So I’d give zero stars if I could, but that’s not possible. I would not recommend coming here if you need fast help, because I really doubt you’ll get any.

Sat in here so far 9 hours. Came in my primary said to go in because I have been nauseated and vomiting can't keep any food down for days. Waited 2 hours before I was even triaged. Then waited another 4 before blood was taken. Now 9 hours and counting. I am begging everyone please don't go here the quality of care is horrible. I am not sure if it is the staff not caring 9r the hospital itself being greedy. I continued to watch shabby, unprofessional, nursing with no bedside manner. This saddens me and I am making a conscious decision never again and since my pcp and other dr. Are Hershey medical as well will be leaving them as well
