I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer a few weeks ago and needed a total hysterectomy. I’m a registered nurse, so I’m very aware of care concerns. There are honestly no words to express how thankful I am for Dr. Shaina Bruce and her entire surgical team. The care I have received from the moment of diagnosis at PENN STATE HERSHEY CANCER INSTITUTE was extraordinary.I was blessed to be cared for by Dr. Bruce! Her office team was efficient, compassionate, and professional. Dr. Bruce completed her fellowship in Gynecological Oncology (GYN ONC). Her cutting edge techniques with robotic surgery enabled me to walk out of the hospital with limited pain just 8 hours after my surgery started. Now, three days post-op I’m able to manage my pain with acetaminophen and ibuprofen. I’m up walking, sleeping comfortably, and able to take care of all my basic personal care needs alone. No one wants cancer. But if you face the challenge, don’t face it alone - consider Penn State Hershey’s cancer institute and Dr. Shaina Bruce for GYN ONC needs. The care is exemplary!

The place was wonderful until you got settled in and that's when the mess started and I can't stand how everything they say about penn health is amazing. only if you have money. The place killed a person I knew there deeply sadness. They had been worried to give the meds but not oxygen. They let that person sleep with a breath problem with out oxygen for a whole night and then they died. After seeing them turn machine off and not once touch the oxygen they also in person say they didn't know if they had turned off the oxygen. Penn health cancer Institute is about money, testing and killing. They are murders

These people simply do not care about Cancer Patients. If you wanna die, unfortunately this is the place to go! I would not recommend this sketchy cover up place to anyone, not even my worst enemy!

Almost every appointment we are waiting all day because the computers are slow. The doctors and nurses are great. But it shouldn't take 45 minutes sitting at the check out desk just to schedule the next appointment. The doctors are always frustrated, rightfully so, at the antiquated computer system that never works. I feel bad for the doctors, and even worse for the patients and caregivers who have to lose entire days and weeks worth of time while the employees wait for their computers to load and reboot and load again and again. How do you expect to take care of your patients with this system. You should immediately fire your entire IT department. Maybe then your patients can get the proper care and attention they deserve, your doctors wouldn't be angry and frustrated, and you could get more patients in to cover the cost of a computer upgrade. I think we'll be looking for a new cancer center.

Dr Wheeldons office is a joke...I've been given the wrong appointment time by matt and pushed from two appointments now. They now want me to wait another five weeks. When I did get there for check in there was a line and one person at the counter and two girls in the office talking about non work related things and after ten minutes of waiting they finally come out to their stations and start checking patients in. I don't know what happened to this place but since I was there 3yrs ago for chemo and other appointments with Dr Holde rit has gone to s**t

My doctor’s are very good. Scheduling for an appointment or waiting for a callback or to talk to a doctor is very stressful because there is no call back or email through my portal.

Diagnosed with stage 2A breast cancer in June of 2020. Started chemotherapy in July of 2020. Had mastectomy in November of 2020. Dr. Truica (oncologist), and Dr. Paulishak (surgeon) were wonderful, as were every treatment professional and receptionist I had contact with. I was able to work full time throughout my chemotherapy treatments because of the drug combination recommended by Truica, who assured me that I would not be nauseated/bedridden. And I wasn't. I recommend the Penn State Cancer Institute to any person seeking treatment for breast cancer.

The best. I cannot say enough good things about Penn State Cancer Institute from the check in process, to the volunteers stationed to help patients, to the lab testing, to radiology and other examination processes and treatments to--especially--the Oncologists with whom I have dealt. I feel especially blessed & fortunate to have been sent by my family physician to Dr. Kevin L. Rakszawski. I expected that I would get a good doctor, but was blown away by Dr. Rakszawski and his colleagues/team. They treated me and my wife and our concerns with the utmost respect and dignity. They infused humor into a difficult process, and put us at ease. We were, frankly, scared. We didn't say so, but indubitably, he was aware. His knowledge, his calmness, and his bedside manner are second to none. I would HIGHLY recommend him and his team to anyone who needs to see a competent, thoroughly on top of the state of his/her profession professional. He zeroed right into our issue immediately, and was an excellent quarterback for the process we had to go through. My son is tangentially in the medical field in another state, and has access to physicians' ratings/education/experience nationwide. I asked him to look up Dr. Rakszawski and let me know what he found. Our son had wanted me to go to the Mayo Clinic, but after looking into Dr. Rakszawski and his rating from his peers/colleagues, he said, "Dad, it looks like you've found the best, stay with Rakszawski." I did and we are very glad and most grateful to him and his wisdom, technique, and sincere desire to help his patients. On a scale of 1 to 10, he is way off the scale, the best of the best.
