While I feel like they are way too expensive compared to other vets in the area, you pay for what you get. If you are on a tight budget, this vet is not for you, but if you want the best care for your pet in the area, this is where you want to go. Would be 5 stars if not for prices

My invoice/treatment plan was laid out before anyone examined my dog (ok - I googled it too and understood he likely had an infection and needed antibiotics) and I was told I had to walk him in the cold twice, after I advised he just went before we got there and I walked him before coming in, he didn't have to go. But I had to as he was going to explode, which he did not.I explained many of the tests, included in this invoice/treatment plan, were not necessary as my dog is sufficiently supervised and none of the 'possible' events occurred. The veterinarian told me "dogs are tricky, you may have no idea what he got into, he could be bleeding internally right now, he may need to go somewhere else to stop it now, I literally smell blood" as he's taking my dog for tests, I told him he did not need.My dog was behaving normal, eating, drinking, like his normal self, no pain, normal vitals, which leads me to believe he knew there was no "internal bleeding", and it was a scare tactic. The delivery of the normal tests results, X-rays, blood tests for everything imaginable not even related to the issue were delivered in the same dramatic form "his insides are horrible, he's so messed up" causing a terrified reaction, only to discover my dog has inflammation and everything is normal. I guess leading with that did not fit the narrative. Inflammation is normal, he has an infection and needs antibiotics, what I said when I arrived. My dog was given antibiotics, and his symptoms were gone. No more diarrhea or blood in his stool, approximately $1,500 and a lot of additional undue stress later. I did not end up using the dog food they sold me in his invoice/treatment plan, as his current Farmers Dog food is much better, which I advised he was on. I mistakenly assumed it was included in this massive package, but now examining the 15-line-item invoice/treatment plan it was $118.08, plus tax. I would have said no if I was asked to purchase it.I do not know if the misinformation and deceptive tactics are standard practice here, but it was disheartening. I left feeling that maybe my husband should have gone instead, maybe this veterinarian would have been more willing to listen to him and allow him to make his own decisions on the treatment of our dog.I debated leaving a review as I typically only like to do so for positive experiences, but this was not acceptable.Update: My text response was:“Hello!***** is doing great, immediately following the medication, all that he needed. If you would please send me all his records from the visit, I never got them emailed as discussed. Thanks! “Using quotes implies it is a…quote, which you edited to again fit a narrative. My dog was crated and sat in diarrhea when discovered that morning, which you were told. The reply further displays the professionalism here. I did not consent. I paid. There is a difference because I was not asked and my objections were unequivocally ignored. My dog had no further diarrhea as stated already after being given an antibiotic, all that he needed for the infection. The additional medication will sit in the cabinet (with the food) if he ever gets nauseous or gets a tapeworm, etc. but I decided to not over-medicate him for conditions he does not have.

I went to Kevin in 2012, I moved out of town went somewhere else. In 2024 I came back to town, I wasn’t sure that I would be back. Well today, I learned Kevin is truly one of the best around. From my previous vet always needing approvals and unsuccessful surgeries to poor bed side manner at times. Kevin showed time after time he knew his practice. From collecting urine using his hands on the bladder, to demonstrating his vast knowledge of multiple conditions both common and rare. I thought we had a cat with a rare condition that was “doomed” but Kevin cleared the air and helped me understand our cat was going to be ok. Now sure, Kevin is direct and yea he swears sometimes but never out of malice, he also does charge a bit more. But I really think he’s something special, when you go somewhere else you start to see, “wow they’re ok but Kevin really knew his stuff.” Kevin brings me peace knowing his expertise is unparalleled. He’s never recommended unneeded treatments. In fact, if anyone was guilty of not doing what was best, it was me. Look we all love our animals but sometimes you have to trust the professionals. And Kevin is not only a professional but the expert! I won’t go anywhere else anymore. Thanks Hershey Vet!

Worst experience at a vet. “Dr Kevin” who couldn’t make time to introduce himself, was unprofessional and disrespectful. If you don’t pay for unnecessary tests you’ll be threatened to leave with nothing. These people don’t care and the place smells like wet dog.

Caution the quote you at one price and ends up to be hundreds more! They are not up front with their pricing. Brought a sample in to check for blood and they checked for worms even though they knew she just finished her de wormer and their wouldnt be any. Then they charged ne $40 for it! If i had any other choice i would not have gone here but no other vet could see her and she was really sick.

Everyone is always friendly and professional. Dr Kevin is always attentive, knowledgable and professional. He is very well versed in his field and takes the time to explain everything and answers all of my questions. Thank you for providing outstanding service!

First time there... couldn't say enough good about them. The staff, the Vet, the facility etc. Was excellent.Didn't get great news about our dog, but even with the bad news, I was very impressed with them and their level of professionalism.Vet tells it as it is... which is a breath of fresh air... wish all docs and vets would be like that.

Fantastic experience as a new client. They were able to fit us in for an emergency flea issue. The visit was very efficient and our pet was well cared for.

My 85lb American Bully / Pit mix loves his Dr. Kevin more than any family/friends I’ve ever introduced him to - this office is full of incredible people who treat every animal like family. When my big guy fractured his toenail jumping off our porch last year, and needed it cauterized, Dr Schengrund and the amazing technicians/professionals there made him comfortable as possible while fixing him up. He still loves to see his Dr Kevin every visit since. Today I took him for an appointment when no immunizations were actually due (my mistake), on a busy night, they still took the time out of their evening to do an exam/eval, give advice and support, and billed nothing at all for the visit. These are organized and capable providers, and above all, incredibly caring people, hands down.

Thank you for seeing our old gal Chloe today and for being so very compassionate to our situation. Everyone we saw today was truly kind and caring. We travel a lot with our fur-babies and needed a veterinarian pretty urgently. From our first phone call to having to make the decision no one wants to make, the staff at Hershey Veterinary Hospital was the best. Again, thank you.

I love Hershey Veterinary Hospital. They take excellent care of my two dogs and get me in and out efficiently. In fact, the care and quick thinking of the Doctor saved my dogs life. Highly recommend.
