My grand daughter wanted a princess and the frog baby shower. Her and my daughter wanted it at the garden at the Civic Center, worse experience ever. Had to call the owner or lady in charge from different phone number to arrange payment, deliveries, meetings which she would cancel etc and the only reason I put myself through this is because my daughter had already sent out the invitations. The day of the shower, myself and the guest was attacked by bees, my oldest daughter got stung twice, and her fiancée eat on because it flew in his mouth that’s how bad it was. I just want to move in from it but getting my deposit back was like pulling teeth. Again it was hard to get in touch with her, even the event planner tried to contact her and she would not reply. Finally she said I would get it back within 2 weeks and that didn’t happen. Finally when I went to file a civil suit, she return it about 4 days later. If wasn’t for wanting to make my daughter and granddaughter happy I wouldn’t have gone through this because it STRESSED me out to no end. I am 63 years old and this was the worse experience in renting a venue in my life or anyone else for that matter.

Beautiful building and location but seems a bit unkempt. The gardens need attention.

We attended a wedding here and we're pretty impressed! Sitting right on the Susquehanna river this venue has a nice outside area with plenty of gorgeous backdrops for photo ops. The downstairs has several rooms that can be set up for various purposes. The second floor has a nice sized dining room/dance hall with a large window at one end which gives a good view over the river. It's definitely a nice place to hold an event.

The civic club is an amazing venue to celebrate any event. We had our engagement party here & was nothing less then amazing. I was able to make beautiful memories in thee most elegant way. Mary Beth is such a marvelous person as well. She was able to make this happen for me.... if I could give this venue 100 stars, I would.

OK venue for small events. Lacks informational signage in and around the premises. Warm reception.

We attended a wedding here and this venue was absolutely beautiful! It was a smaller wedding so it was the perfect size, but this space is too small for a larger wedding. The Civic Club is located right on the river and it creates a beautiful back drop for photos. I'm not sure of the history of the building but it looked and felt like an old mansion that was somewhat renovated for events. There's a beautiful wrap around porch where guests could sit and wait for whatever event they were attending. We attended a Cocktail hour on the main floor which had separate little rooms, even though the wedding was small it did feel tight in certain areas once all of the guests arrived. After the cocktail hour we proceeded upstairs for the reception. I believe they have an elevator for guests that cannot walk up the steps. The ballroom upstairs was beautiful with a large window to view the river. Restroom situation: the main floor just had one restroom, single person. Upstairs there were 2 restrooms, 1 Women's and 1 Men's...not sure about the men's room but the women's room had 3 stalls. There was also a large dressing area in the women's restroom.

Today was was milestone day for me. I went to a luncheon at the Civic club of Harrisburg. There I got to meet a bunch of amazing and empowered women. They were very accepting of me and I learned a lot from them. It was one of the most magical experiences of my life as of late. It seems that people of this club we're very empowered in their history and up to the the present day . I kind of got a very activist vibe in this awesome mansion today.. I felt the power of women and nothing can stop us.. Like it or not women are part of History. I learned some really amazing facts today. Remember women are a part of History because we are strong. I've learned some very magical facts today that are still resonating with me at this moment. Remember trans women are women. I got treated with a great deal of respect today. No one called me sir. I was treated like one of them because we are all sisters. Posted out of extreme happiness at this moment but I'm also tired.. Civic Club of Harrisburg thanks for a super great day. For the record I think Knitting is in my future! Yes even Empowered woman Knit! Have a great day ally Facebook followers and Friends especially the new friends I met today over wraps and soup! Plus an added bonus of today was learning about woman's History of the Central Pennsylvania area! Thanks and I am living in gratitude! Plus it would make a great venue for a formal or informal event you may plan . I am marking this place very Transgender friendly. Since I am a transgender woman.
