It’s the people at the East Shore Branch YMCA that make it so special. Everyone is value and cared for there. Going to Betty Owings’ deep water exercise class for years has allowed me to stay fit and active in spite of having arthritis and fibromyalgia.

Very nice staff beginning with the Service Desk, the Custodial Staff and the Exercise area. For an older building, it appeared to be clean! Customer friendly staff. Good choice/assortment of equipment.

Beautiful Spanish Revival building and decent gym setup. Otherwise WAY overpriced with a generally unfriendly staff. I live 2 blocks away and chose to end my membership and drive to work out. Their whole business model needs to be modernized. Why charge people for options they don't want or use? Ridiculous....

You pay 45$ a month and still want to charge you 1$ for the parking everytime you want to workout so ridiculous

Over the past couple months I’ve been having trouble setting up my YMCA membership through my insurance in the beginning of the month an employee named Christy. She helped me and made me feel secure that she would try to figure the problem out and I really appreciate it. And she had a great attitude. She didn’t make me feel, rushed, or like my problem wasn’t important

I'm an 8 yr Veteran of the USN submarine service. I'm also a 30 year alcoholic who was out of a VA suicide lock down to here.Read this knowing that I am angry and hurt. I was taken in supported by the VA and improperly placed in the lightest of 4 programs. While I have been here things have been very hard. No kitchen. One coffee room for 86 men. Bathroom missing fixtures and in disrepair. Rooms with cables hanging out of walls, windows painted shut. Staff treating residents as 2cd class people. Few times even ejected from building for 5 hours to spray for insects.Every update from staff comes with threat of eviction. Miss a resident meeting? Evicted. Music noise? Evicted. Room not organized and presentable? Evicted.Do you smoke? Not on Y property. Across the street on public property? Evicted. Up the street near the corner? Evicted. Public property. Immediate Eviction. Its cold outside. The hall heat if often turned off, leaving rooms and bathrooms below 55 degrees. Doesn't sound too bad? Try that in your house. When the heat is on?? A window MUST be open to expell the heat. The radiators will BURN you.Poor shower water pressure. Tepid shower temperature at best. Enjoyable.I could go on but I grow tired.I have stayed sober. But the VA failed to live up to its promise to find me permanent housing.AND today? Told I must leave, with no concern where I might go. Even though I can afford rent here, but not elsewhere. Homeless again.I will stay sober. But I am betrayed by the VA and YMCA personnel. How unkind. How thoughtless.Your experience with the Y may prove different than mine. I recommend that you do not risk that. Go anywhere but here. If you do so, you are far more likely to be seen as a living human being. My name is Benjamin Burch. I AM a human being.

Some rude staff and management, don’t waste your money go to a Golds Gym or something don’t give money to this place stop funding the city of Harrisburg and this trash building…. Mold on walls, leaks, nasty locker rooms, the list goes on!

I have family member renting a room at the YMCA that is disabled. These people pay a lot of rent for a small bedroom. Staff at the YMCA go in and out of people’s rooms without permission. Staff complain and say they have too much stuff! Really? These people have nowhere to store food or prepare food like that I guess they expect them to starve. It’s pretty disgusting how they treat people with disabilities. I never heard of such crazy stuff.

Swim coach Ms. Charisse and her team is the best. Their way of assessing and personalized lessons is very appreciative. Thanks for everything you do.
