So I parked on the island next to the ball park and walked around the island and across the pedestrian bridge. Views are amazing and the property was clean and well maintained. I had full bars of Verizon 4G LTE Roaming. Lots of entertainment options on the island including but not limited to ball park, football and soccer stadium, mini golf, train rides, ?, beach club, volleyball and more..

We come here every year for the Labor Day powwow and have a great time doing cooking demonstrations and tomahawk throw. The Kapona celebration on Labor Day offers so much to see.

I love city island. It was staple in my childhood from Karate tournaments to volleyball and even swimming and skating. Mostly I’ve had nothing but good experiences here. A few things could be improved, less pot holes in the parking lot, the train should run more often, the arcade could use a little upgrade, the missing batting cages should come back! Some additional memorials should be painted, and I hope they start adding more events in the area. This should be a thriving area, but it’s not nearly as popular as it used to be. From the concerts of yesterday, to the multiple sporting events to now…. Just a little bit of this and that. Harrisburg is sitting on a gem here, but due to poor planning and bad staff at the top, city island isn’t as great as it could be.

Enjoy a scenic walk or bike ride from downtown Harrisburg along the river to a pedestrian bridge that leads to City Island. Picnic tables available in the shade to observe birds and waterfowl. Likely a busy place on game night, but perfect for a morning or lunch time stroll.
