I’ve banked with M&T for years and never had any issues UNTIL I went to 1725 Baltimore St. in Hanover, Pa. The plan was to pay the bill and proceed down the road to work. Well these two individuals had other plans unbeknownst to me…I attempted to pay my mortgage and had the pleasure of meeting Vicky who requested my ss number due to the dollar amount and it being cash (according to her). Keep in mind she has my ID, AND my account pulled up, I wasn’t wearing a mask so she clearly sees my face matches my ID. This wasn’t the first time I paid my mortgage in cash AT THIS BRANCH and her reason for wanting the ss# was not adding up. Needless to say I declined to provide the information ESPECIALLY when she said she had it on her screen. I then decided to go into the branch and meet with a manager by the name of Misty McKenzie who stated my ss number was needed due to all of the fraudulent activity currently taking place. MA’AM I HIGHLY DOUBT SOMEONE WOULD FRAUDULENTLY COME IN HERE AND PAY MY MORTGAGE!!!! She further LIES adding this policy has been in effect for YEARS. Now I haven’t resided in the Hanover area for years but I have been there for several months. I’ve never been asked to provide my ss number. I was so irritated I just walked out. I went to a different branch and paid my mortgage WITH NO PROBLEM AT ALL. I WAS NOT ASKED TO PROVIDE MY SS#. It was such an inconvenience all because Vicky and Misty decided to make up their own policies. MEMO TO VICKY AND MISTY: TREAT ALL MEMBERS THE SAME AND STOP MAKING UP LIES TO INCONVENIENCE PEOPLE!!!

Very unhappy dealing with M&T lately and am going to close accounts. I have had accounts with them since they opened in Hanover, PA. Banks need to have later hours at least a couple of days a week and Saturdays for people who need to setup and close accounts in person. Saturdays they should have more than one person available in each office. If a bank wants people’s business then maybe they should change to meet customers needs. Having to close a branch shows that the people all working the “bankers hours” are not needed. It’s very disappointing when I have to take off work just to get an appointment with the bank.

Most helpful. I was accessing an account that I had not touched in several years. On going in I was a bit apprehensive as I have had issues with withdrawals from other banks in the past. Not the case here. I was treated with respect and courtesy, overall a very pleasant experience.
