I called to inquire about servicing an old car and had an honest and informal talk that helped me see that it wasn’t worth it. I didn’t get any actual service but it was still a good experience that will bring me back for the next time.

I've been a customer of Santilli's (owner George Burke) for over 30 years. He has serviced five cars of mine. As I've purchased each new car, I took advantage of the initial service the dealer offered, but at some point I've always resumed service at Santilli's. I've found his work to be accurate, targeted, reliable, and reasonably priced.A recent scenario deserves special mention. I had taken my BMW X1 to a local BMW dealer in response to a recall. They called me saying they had noticed several oil leaks in the engine. They said they had discovered 3 major leaks: the oil pan gasket, the valve cover gasket, and the engine head gasket. BMW estimated the cost to repair the leaks would be in excess of $6000. Suspicious that all three gaskets would have gone bad at the same time and with no significant oil staining on my driveway at home, I called George and asked if he would take a look at the car. A few days later, George determined that there was, in fact, oil on the engine. However, it was not due to the serious leaks BMW had claimed, but it was due to a missing engine oil cap gasket. The cost to resolve the leak was $12.95 to replace the oil cap and a little less than $200 for the diagnostic work to establish that the engine was not leaking as BMW said it was.George Burke of Santilli's deserves credit for being a dedicated diagnostician, an able mechanic, and for not taking advantage of a situation to do the same work BMW claimed was needed but at a lower price. Parenthetically, the last shop to have access to the engine was the BMW garage when they changed the oil as a part of an annual service about 6 months earlier. I'm all but convinced they intentionally removed the gasket to create the more serious--and far more expensive--"leaks" that they'd "notice incidentally" at a future service call. That BMW dealership will never see me for service again, and when I replace my current auto, I will not be purchasing from them.

Just got my car back, and it is perfect. George and his people are some of the nicest people i ever did business with. The costs were reasonable and I was informed of what work was being done..Thamks George.

Santilli's is the best shop that I have ever used. Cost has never been an issue with their jobs. Their prices are fair. It's the attitude and great customer service and the fact that the car is there once and fixed. Thanks George.

Had the transmission go out in my Outback. Other shops I called hemmed and hawed and basically were afraid to touch it. Called Santillis and they said bring it in. They sourced and installed a used transmission for less than half of what the dealership quoted me. George is a great guy and I wouldn't hesitate to bring my car to him for any repairs.

Ridiculously expensive place that insists on fixing "everything", in addition to what you went to them for in the first place, or they won't work on your vehicle @ all. Ended up getting the work done @ meineke, for 1/4 their cost! Scammers.

I stopped in to have them check a light that came on in my dashboard. After checking a few different things including my oil level., the nice man said that it was safe to drive back home. He refused to accept a $10. tip.Service: Electrical
