Bruce Harlan is the primary contractor chosen by my interior designer to remodel my master bathroom and kitchen. He worked well with her and, along with his team, produced results that I enjoy living in all day long. One noteworthy part of my job was a kitchen accent wall with an intricate tile pattern that presented a unique challenge. Bruce was meticulous in his approach, and he accurately reproduced my designer’s vision. I sincerely recommend the work done by Harlan Custom Contracting.

They were hired to remodel a bathroom. I supplied 90 percent of the materials. The reason I needed a remodel was that my fixtures on my jacuzzi were beginning to leak. There were no access panels, and the tiles were discontinued. So I bought the kits to have 2 access panels installed. They were supposed to be caulked in with caulk that matched the grout. Instead he grouted them in and claimed it wasn't going to match and it wouldn't look right. His father came the following morning and when confronted with my disapproval, said it would match perfectly. The son convinced me that it had to be removed there would be no issue. So like a fool I paid by check. I gave the grout and caulk 48 hrs.to dry. When I went to use the jacuzzi I found one of the fixtures was knocked loose. I contacted him immediately and he didn't want to fix it or wanted more money. Refused because they knocked it loose and told him that he said it wouldn't be a problem. Grant you I was charged $8,575.00. I told him if he didn't fix it I would leave him a bad review. I even went out and bought extra pencil molding because he said it would probably break! No issue huh? I agreed he could wait until after all of the holidays as long as he put me on the schedule for February. I called every week in February and got the same response. "I'm busy and I'll get there when I get there."I told him it wasn't acceptable and I was going to leave a bad review. He had the nerve to say that he couldn't believe how badly I treated people. In the meantime I found voids in the grout, and his caulk job is cracking up, and he didn't use bathroom paint and it started to peel off in a couple of spots, and I made him aware of all of that, but not in a nasty way. I wanted it repaired. Well as the Rolling Stones said, You can't always get what you want!!!!! Ain't that the truth. Absolutely no ethical standards or regard for quality workmanship. He even had to be shown how to properly install the schluter trim so it didn't have sharp blunt cut sharp edges. That cost me in extra materials also!

Bruce and his team helped us through a significant renovation of our home. They gutted our kitchen, removed our mud room and built us a new one, re-did our floors, staircase, and so much more. We couldn’t have been happier with Bruce, Serjio, Mike, Bob, Josh, his father and everyone else who helped make this renovation possible. We lived in our home during the renovation, with 2 young children, and the team was meticulously clean, responsive, and professional. We couldn’t be happier and will be turning to Bruce for all of our needs in the future.Services: Tile work installation

I hired them to remodel my bathroom. My 30 yr. old fixtures on my jacuzzi began to leak and there weren't any access panels. The tiles had been discontinued, so it was time for a total remodel, and to have access panels installed to avoid future difficulties and they were to be caulked in place. I asked that things be covered and my walk-in closet to be sealed off to contain the dust. First brow raiser was the inability to give me the size grout size I wanted. Then they did a cut and butt with the Schluter trim. The back had to be left alone, but the front had to be cut out on both sides, and my boyfriend showed them how to bend the metal to give it a clean look. I noticed that the son had grouted the access panels and the plastic had drooped off the top corner of the closet. I didn't think much of the plastic, but confronted the son about grouting the access panels. He said that the caulk wouldn't match and if you cut the grout they would pop right off. The next day the father showed up and I told him of my concern with the access panels and he stated that the caulk would match perfectly. I also noticed a peice of tile right in front of the step to the jacuzzi was about a half of an inch. I let that go, but when the son returned, I again confronted him about the access panels. He said I am telling you that it won't look right and it was no big deal, they would pop right off. So I paid in full, like a fool. The caulk around the jacuzzi matched perfectly. I waited 48 hours for the caulk and grout and paint to all set up before using the bathroom at all. I went to use the jacuzzi and the newly installed fixture was knocked loose. I went into my closet, and EVERYTHING was covered in dust. I called the son the next day. He acknowledged noticing play in the fixture. I told him there's no way I am trying to cut out the grout because the pencil trim was butted right up to the tile. I also told him about the dust everywhere. He refused to do anything. He said that the pencil trim would break and he wasn't doing it. Four months passed and I began finding small peices of paint all over the bathroom, and the caulk around the jacuzzi began to crack and lift. There were also 3 places between the Schluter trim and the tile void of grout. I contacted him again and told him to either address all of the issues or I would leave a review with my opinion of the work. He acted as if he was going to do it. We agreed on the month of February after all of the holidays had passes. After only 4-5 days were left to the month, with weekly reminders, I began to feel he was blowing me off. So I texted," time is of the essence." He responded, " Do it yourself." Nice huh?

Had to be shown how to bend Schluter trim to give a finished look. Paid to install access panels in a bathroom remodel job which were to be caulked in place. He grouted them instead. In the process my new fixtures were knocked loose. When I contacted him 72 hours later, he refused to correct the issue. Four months later I began finding paint peices on the floor, and the caulk around the jacuzzi began cracking up. After finding where the paint was peeling from and the caulk continued getting worse, I contacted him again. He didn't even come out to see the issues, told me to fix it myself because I wanted a date and said I would leave a review. It's been nearly one year, but I'm treating him badly. I find it appalling! The paint used was not recommended for bathrooms, and he swore the access panels would pop right off if you cut the grout with a razor knife. That's until there was an issue. Then it was a whole other story. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone!

Best company to work with! Everything from start to finish was perfect! Clear & professional communication from the initial phone call to completion (which is HUGE for me as that is hard to come by these days!) Job done efficiently and correctly and space was cleaned of all debris and trash. Can't wait to do more projects with Bruce and his crew!
