Just stayed there this past weekend and it was a wonderful time. We happened to catch the Inn during a slow period as we were the only guests. Bob was a very great host. We had cinnamon buns for breakfast as well as cereal. Definitely want to return during the summer months, when it stays lighter longer and can sit out on the deck and watch the trains go by.

I loved my stay at the tunnel inn. The owner is super nice to guests, I love how it has a balcony with a light switch that illuminates the train tracks at night. You can only switch the lights on when a train is coming. The breakfast options consisted of a pastry and a serial, along with oranges. I stayed in the Alco snd Baldwin suites, and had an absolutely wonderful nights sleep in them. Pro tip: bring soap, the bar of soap that is available is very small, you will also need to ask the owner about the water switches, as it can be hard to recognize which was is hot or cold. The hotel offers a direct view of the tracks, with a webcam from the horseshoe curve, allowing people to be ready of trains coming from the tunnel. It takes 10-15 minutes for trains that are at the curve to reach the hotel, but after that, it’s smooth sailing. The owner is very knowledgeable of train symbols, and is happy to help you when you need one. It is located at least half an hour from every major Railfan hotspot in the area, making it perfect for railfans. Parking is rough, but easy once figured out. The rooms are decorated beautifully, having their names be inspired by railroads and railroad related items. I would give this hotel over 5 stars.

Spent a night here in May 2023, and it was fantastic. Been traveling to Altoona since the 70s, love Horseshoe Curve. Found out about Gallitzin more recently, and always thought staying here was a great idea. Glad I did. Had a great time. Rooms are great and super clean. If you like trains, there were tons of them to watch. This was my first stay here, hope to spend more than one night on the next trip. Great place to stay.Rooms: Super Comfortable, Super Clean.Nearby activities: Great Bar and Grill a block awayFood & drinks: Nice to bring a cooler with a few beers, great restaurant nearby.

The owner likes to harass people taking pictures of the tunnel at ground level. He calls the cops and the railroad company if you are anywhere near the tracks or tunnel so beware. I’ve never had any issues with police or railroad employees, just this crazy guy.

Very clean. Immaculate in fact. Noisy trains going by were wonderful! LOL Big deck area for viewing, including 5 spotlights for viewing trains after dark. Breakfast consists of cereal and a pastry. Rooms have minisplit for climate control. I plan to go back if that tells you anything.

This place is really nice! Old, cool building with really nicely done, newly renovated rooms. Only 4 rooms, so it will never be overcrowded. Awesome deck overlooks the train tracks and tunnel, and the owner has made it very nice...outdoor fireplace to boot! If you love trains, or are in the area, this place is great. Reasonably priced as well.

If you have the slightest interest in trains do this. Right by the tracks, right near a tunnel. Easy walking distance to The Wine Cellar, a lovely restaurant. Rooms and common areas are clean, very comfortable and well appointed with railroad items. Great deck with a chimena for train watching. Innkeeper is very friendly and informative. He made fresh cinnamon rolls for breakfast. Also coffee, fruit, cereal juice, milk, other stuff. We will be back.

I spent a great week here. The room was spotless and very comfortable. If you love trains, this is the place to stay. If you don't know the first thing about trains but enjoy listening to people who do, then you will enjoy talking to other guests. The breakfast is continental with coffee tea and juice available all the time. Cereal is plentiful, and Bob will make lemon bars, banana bread, muffins and hot cinnamon rolls!I saved the best for last. Bob is the most considerate and friendly host. He goes out of his way to make everyone feel welcome. A lot of the guests were repeat customers who come here for the trains, but everyone sings Bob's praises. Add me to the chorus.

Just stayed there this weekend and I tell you, my Son and I really enjoyed it. Bob is a super guy who took some time to talk to my Son for a bit and joke around with him. It was a bunch of nice guys sitting on the viewing deck, watching trains and good conversation.Bob, sincerely, I hope the Inn continues going and you keep the dream going because if the day ever comes it’s not there, PA and rail fans have lost a gem.

There is literally nothing negative I can say about this place. Bob, the owner, is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. He works constantly to make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. We stayed for 2 nights and felt at home. The cleanliness of the entire place was outstanding. Very comfy bed and pillows for a great night's sleep. Super clean bathroom. Plenty of space in the rooms and depending on which room you stay in, you can see the tracks. Only 1 room you can't but that's why you have the back porch, the lot downstairs, and even the park on the other side of the tracks near the caboose. Lots of neat train artifacts and models around. Lots of magazines and movies you can watch as well as board games you can play in the dining room. The back porch is very spacious, has a fireplace, table, lots of chairs, and offers very good views of the tracks so you can see the trains... even at night with the flood lights! Nice and quiet aside from the trains, but that's to be expected! Excellent establishment and the prices are very fair and comparable to places like Comfort Inn, Quality Inn, etc. Highly recommend! We absolutely will return!-WallieRooms: Very clean rooms. Very comfy beds and pillows. Super clean bathrooms. Towels and linens are supplied.Nearby activities: Gallitzin Tunnels Park is right across the bridge where you can sit at the picnic table and enjoy the trains and walk around the caboose as well as inside if it's open! There is a little tavern and grill next door. Also, there is a Dollar General within walking distance, a small gas station, and a bank. Across from the park, there is a little museum, library, and restrooms. You're only about 10-15 or so minutes from Horseshoe Curve as well.Walkability: The rooms are upstairs. Bob will try to help accommodate you as best as he can though. The back porch is right outside on the upstairs floor. Easy walk from the rooms. The nearby park is on the other side of the bridge which is a short walk as is the Dollar General right across the street from the Inn. The tavern is right next door. Parking lot is very close to the front door and there is some room to catch the trains from the lot and back yard.Food & drinks: Bob has water, milk, coffee, and small snacks available daily. He has some small breakfast available in the morning this time of year but says he offers more during the busier time of the year. There are small fridges in the rooms for you to use.
